STORY:

Peter Parker in this version of the Marvel’s Absolute Universe has ZERO powers, never being bitten by a radioactive spider, both aunt May and uncle Ben in his life, and had great prospects for college along with his friends Mary Jane, Ned Leads, and, then girlfriend, Gwen Stacy.

All things looked great for Pete. But in his junior year, an unknown man entered Midtown High armed with automatic rifles. A tragic assault on the school left many deceased including Gwen, not helped by the NYPD’s hesitation to intervene. Peter survived and escaped, only to hear the shooter was never caught and that Gwen was dead.

Ravaged with guilt, grief, and rage, Peter Parker looked for leads and called the police department daily demanding justice. After months of nothing, Peter decided to take justice into his own hands.

Forming a plan with Ned Leads, Pete would train to fight and kill the Midtown High attacker while Ned developed a network of surveillance systems to find the attacker’s home. Peter and Ned then worked together to create a bullet-resistant suit powered by an imperfect arc reactor in order to keep Peter as safe, and his kill as easy, as possible.

Uncle Ben eventually discovers the operation, and ultimately can’t in good conscience condone Peter’s actions and the risk he’d be taking. But looking at the rage, determination, and tears in Peter’s eyes as his nephew explained what he HAS to do, Uncle Ben only warns him:

“You have to understand you will never be the same, son. The power to take a life could be the power to save a life. With that power comes a great responsibility.”

Uncle Ben’s words didn’t stop Peter from avenging his friends with the help of Ned. That night, Peter made a killer never able to kill again.

After Pete’s return, he promised uncle Ben to make good on the rest of his responsibility.

The power to take a life MUST be the power to save a life.

With heavy inspiration from Ned and his wannabe superhero OC, and many incredible feats of engineering, Peter Parker and Ned Leads work together to be “The Absolute Spider-Man.”
