Flying domestic with TP4 28L as a personal item first time

I bought my first Aer backpack (TP4 28L) few months ago and I’m loving it!

I’m flying domestic (United airlines economy) first time with it. My ticket allows me a free carry on and a personal item. I’ll be traveling with a full carry on rollover as well as an almost empty Aer TP4 28L (just with MacBook Air, Bose overhead headphones and a tech pouch for cables etc).

Will I be able to take TP4 28L as a personal item?

Buying vs renting a car for 6 months

Hello,

A foreigner family is moving to Islamabad for 6 months only. They will need a 7 seater. Is it possible to rent a car without a driver? or is it cheaper to buy a car and then sell it (including taxes and duties)?

Need Advice: My Mother’s Anti-Islam Views Are Affecting Our Household

I’m a revert westerner and my non-muslim mother lives with me and my muslim husband and children.

She helps me a lot with taking care of the kids and the household. But she is very anti-Islam. Most of the time she doesn’t express it, but sometimes she says very hateful prejudice things about Islam, muslims and the Prophet pbuh as if it is common sense.

My mom is very rigid in her opinions about Islam and religion in general and discussions about it tend to become hostile even if we try to stay kind and logical.

She lives with a very good standard of living with us, but she has her own small pension with which she could get by.

Her presence makes me cautious about teaching Islam to my kids. I try to let my kids watch some videos with Islamic content and I recently bought an adhan clock.

The adhan clock is helping me a lot to remember praying on time and my older daughter enjoys hearing the adhan but it has triggered my mom more than anything before. She protested verbally and then posted some very hateful videos in our family chat group.

Please give us some advice if it’s ok to keep playing Islamic kids videos and the adhan clock if it triggers her so much.

Gated communities within city

A foreign family (of non Pakistani westerners) is planing to move to Islamabad. They liked the idea of a gated community like DHA but it's quite far from the city where their office would be. Are there any safe gated communities within Islamabad city?

Expired passport

I applied for my urgent Pakistani passport renewal as well as Pakistani family visit visa (on my foreign passport) but both applications are delayed for unknown reasons. I never applied for a NICOP.

I’ve been trying to call the helpline but they are clueless.

Someone told me that if I apply for a NICOP then I can travel just based on the application confirmation email. Is that true? I’d like to travel to Pakistan from asap.

Should I avoid Emirates because of the war?

I have to visit Islamabad (ISB) from LAX next week. I have a lot of Skywards miles that I want to use but I am concerned about the war situation. A lot of friends are advising me to fly Turkish because of the safer route but I don't like their old aged aircrafts. I also think Emirates staff is more competent.

Is it risky to fly Emirates compared to Turkish airline?

Temporary private office for a startup

Hello,

We run a small remote startup but would like to invite everyone to meet, live and work in Islamabad for a month.

Where can we find a private temporary office space for 6 people? Ideally in a safe area which is close to guest houses/hotels.

Can a dual citizen exit Pakistan on an expired Pakistani Passport

Hello,

A dual citizen is currently in Pakistan. Their Pakistani passport just expired but they need to urgently travel to their second country due to an emergency. Can they exit Pakistan with an expired Pakistani Passport but with a valid foreign passport?

Thanks.

UPDATE: I called the FIA immigration helpline. They told me to get at least NICOP application receipt in order to exit the country.

Minoxidil with mild atherosclerosis

I have a mild atherosclerosis at age 39 (CAC = 65) due to high LDL and lp(a). I’m now keeping my LDL as low as possible (< 50mg/dL) via cholesterol lowering medication.

I’m considering taking minoxidil for hair loss but heard that it can have negative side effects for heart.

How risky is it for me to use minoxidil for hair loss?

Acquiring German citizenship through kids

I’m an US citizen but my partner is a dual citizen (German and US). We are not legally married but we have kids and our kids are also dual citizens (German and US). We all live in the US.

Question: is it possible for me to acquire German citizenship without living in Germany? If not, how long we do we have to be in Germany to become a German citizen?

39 yr old male with CAC score of 65

Baseline:

LDL: 185 mg/dl

Lp(a): 225 nmol/L

Labs after 1 year of Repatha 140 + Ezetemibe 10mg:

LDL: 55 mg/dl

Lp(a): 225 nmol/L (Repatha did not lower it)

I went to see a preventative cardiologist who believes in aggressive treatment. He recommended me to add 1 tablet of Bempedoic acid 180 to take my LDL below 40.

I added half tablet instead of full of bempedoic acid per day. Labs after 2 weeks:

LDL: 27 mg/dl

Question: is my LDL too low now? Should I cut Ezetemibe into half?
