Don't forget to buy some local food to take home..

No idea if they are locally made but at least they are Osaka local things , Hanshin Tigers and Katsuoji Temple.

Good souvenirs to take home.

ice-cream cartel in Japan investigated as sweltering summer looms

The companies are suspected of colluding to use inflation in food prices to raise the prices of their products beyond the increase in raw material costs. Senior executives in the companies face allegations they held meetings and exchanged emails for years to coordinate the timing and scale of retail price rises for ice-creams and other frozen desserts, according to news agency Kyodo and public broadcaster NHK.

Does anyone use Origin's EV Go plan?

Than plan seems a bit clever, to me. It's cheap charging and anytime of the day, kinda. Plug the car in and it knows (when you set it up) that you want the car full by say 7am. It'll charge when power is cheap through the day or any time ... not just midnight to 6 like some others.

Its only for Tesla and Mercedes though, hope they add other car makes.

Do you think they will add other makes?

Cup Noodle Museum, Osaka

I went to the Cup Noodle Museum in Osaka a few weeks ago. A fairly interesting place. I was surprised they didn't have a Cafe area where you can buy and eat.

I chose curry base, pork, edamame, corn, spring onion. Nice and tasty.

What do people need to buy when getting an EV?

I've never had an EV but have one on order.

So, what things do I need to buy, or should buy, for it.

The car will have a charger (slow one but that's fine). What else do people buy .. like any other leads that should be purchased for when you are travelling away from home? And cases for the leads, apps that are a good buy, anything?

I have read some new EV are being reduced in features to drop the price, so no charger will be included.

7eleven ATM, still the best for cash?

I've read ages ago the the ATM at 7eleven were the best exchange rate and fees... but that was a while ago.

Is that still the case or any ATM at Lawson, Family Mart and 7eleven all pretty much the same now?

I've only used 7eleven the last few years but wondered if it still the case, people still going by what instagram youtube people say.

Heading around Lake Biwa, need some northern ideas.

We are renting a car tomorrow to drive around Lake Biwa area for five days, just cruising, we are pretty laid back touristsand dont have busy schedulesfor every minute of travel. Back at Osaka on Friday afternoon.

You can see a few markers on some places we'll visit but we haven't got anything up the northern end. What's worth visiting up there please. Any suggestions?

Also, any hints on what areas to stay over night... we will just book on the day.

Prescription glasses repair

I did ask yesterday but here's an update i think is worth a post.

My wife tripped over yesterday and bumped her head, she's fine but her glasses weren't.

We went to an optometrist near Kuromon Market near our accommodation. He straight away said no, they may break trying to repair and also said no to a new pair (maybe as it was Saturday?)

Anyway I ask on the sub and a person recommended Megane Ichiba.

They were so good and helpful. He spent 30 minutes doing a repair, took the arms off etc. Even gave my wife two cleaning clothes.. and Zero charge.

So great the service .. my wife ended up buying sunglasses after from them.

Anyway, if you need glasses repaired I recommend you try this store.

Tripped and broke glasses, where can I get them fixed?

My wife tripped over and broke her glasses (and scratched face up too).

Went to an optometrist this afternoon, small place, and he said no, that they would break.

Only need a temp repair and will get new ones when home. First week of the holiday, we are here until June 1st..

Or where to get new ones tomorrow but she has astigmatism and I don't think you can get glasses made quick.

Suggestions please. We are in the Namba station area.

We are off around Biwa Lake in a rent a car Monday to Friday, so would be great to find something tomorrow.

Back in Osaka after that.

Her face will heal soon, she will be fine.

Is charging at home noisy?

I ask because I was watching a YouTube video reviewing an EV. I think it was a Jaecoo or GAC UT but I can't find it again on my history.

Anyway, he was happy with the car but when he charged using the wall charger (assume its 10amp) fans started on the car like they ran to cool the batteries while charging. Sounded a bit like the engine fan running on a normal ice car.

Is that normal, it was a bit loud and our car will be near our front door kinda... don't want that sound humming around us or the neighbours four hours every night. I assumed it would be silence.
