I have been sick my entire 5-day vacation

I had a busy month in June, so I took two extra days off last week in order to have five days off in a row. Nothing special, I just wanted to chill, maybe do some home projects, and I gave myself a mission to find good chips and salsa which so far has been elusive in the city I moved to. Instead, day one I got a weird virus and I have spent five days now either huddling in bed with terrible chills or tossing and turning with sweat pouring off of me.

And the digestive stuff started yesterday. That's all I'm going to say about that.

My husband is leaving for a work trip tomorrow, so we've been super careful to not expose him. He needed a trim, and I usually cut his hair, but he went to a shop instead. He came back with too-short, uneven hair and said the stylist told him she'd had "stomach flu" the day before. So that's cool.

I know on the one hand it's perfect timing, but I was really looking forward to this break and this doesn't feel like a break. And now I have to work (from home) tomorrow, probably still sick, and I'll have no one to help me until my husband gets home on Friday.

This sucks.

Is there a weird virus going around right now?

I mean obviously there's always a few circulating, but I've been sick for two days with only fever, body aches, and headache. No sore throat, cough, sinus or digestive symptoms. I don't think it's the heat because I've stayed mostly indoors and my AC is keeping up ok. I've just never been sick in such an oddly specific way and I wondered if anyone else is.

"If you made it this far, thanks for watching."

I don't know why this bothers me so much so I won't be able to explain it, but every time I hear it I get just a little bump of rage. Like it was such a huge feat to make it all the way through your YouTube video. I don't need to be honored for this achievement. And I know, that's not what they mean, but I just hate it. It's almost as bad as "don't forget to like comment subscribe blah blah algorithm".

I desperately need to take fiber every day and I can't do it, so I thought we could do the fun thing where everyone suggests the obvious solution and I can tell you that it didn't work

I have to take my sleepy pill at night and my wakey pill in the morning, and can't take the fiber within three hours of those. The few times I've managed to take it more than a few days in a row it has solved every digestive issue ever. Somehow I cannot make a third medicine time stick. Help me.

Edit:

YOU GUYS DID IT. I have received several great recommendations which I will implement but also u/seeeveryjoyouscolor asked me what the barrier is and I figured out that it's too inconvenient to get up and get the water without also getting distracted by everything else I do when I get up. I am going to move the water bottles storage to under my desk.

Thank you to everyone who has tried to help and I'm sorry if I seemed obstinate. I really want to conquer this and am as frustrated as anyone.

Got my customary Friday McDonald's breakfast

Another driver got into the other drive thru lane just after me, but finished placing her order just before me, so I waited for her to go ahead at the merge point, but she waved me through. When I went to pay, they asked if I had the "senior coffee" to which I said no, but I would like to pay for both of ours. It cost me 65 cents and her 30 seconds and now we both are having just a little better days.

I fucked up TWICE

I'm kicking myself so bad right now. We went away over Memorial Day weekend, for two nights. Of course I made sure he had plenty of fresh water before we left. We got home on Monday and I see that I forgot to put the heat lamp back on top of his tank. I felt terrible, but he looked fine. Not lethargic, came out to check on things once the heat was back on. (It has a separate trivet in a safe spot so no fire hazard, but still.) I put this slipper of mine that you can warm in the microwave in there and he snuggled for a bit and then went back to his hide. Crisis averted.

I noticed that he hadn't been coming out at his usual times in the evening, but chalked it up to having been cold, and possibly shedding. Tonight as I was doing the usual water change, I suddenly realized the thermostat wasn't in place. It's not in a spot that gets in the way of the water dish, so most likely it got knocked out during the slipper incident. I think this lamp has been trying to heat up my 72° house to 95° (the setting necessary to keep the bottom of the tank at the proper temps) for a week now.

Again, he looks fine, has been hanging out in the cool hide, but should I be worried?
