Looking for suggestions on where to ride a century and wind up with a cool location to finish 100. Looking for someplace with food, hotel, and is picture worthy.
Oh, also need the bike friendly route to get there. I would like to start out of Westmont, Downers Grove or Lisle.
I hope to ride my first century this September or October. I have seen pictures with cool end locations for a century.
The drum does not start/rotate on its own when pressing start.
The drum does not start to rotate on its own. To use the dryer, I hold the door switch and roll the drum till the motor “Kicks in”. Once it is running it works as designed.
I need help diagnosing this. Is it the motor? Is it a capacitor? Is there a capacitor on this model. I have no qualms about taking it out and installing the part. When this behavior started, the motor would occasionally start using the start switch. Now the only way I know to start the motor is to push it.

The Salt Creek underpass at 294 was closed from 2023 till a few weeks ago.
For folks that rode Salt Creek Trail between the Brookfield Zoo and 294 from 2023 to July 2026, , have you perceived more traffic since the underpass reopened?
I approached Salt Creek though the underpass before 2023. The eastern leg seems to have noticeably more traffic now than I recall pre-2023. Am I cracking up?
I have Comcast in Downers Grove. Internet was spotty the day of the storm, then out Tue and WED. I am at full comcast for internet and TV today.

Received an official email update from Cook County Forest preserve 7/16/2026 that the Salt Creek 294 underpass is now open. I haven’t been able to check the underpass since 7/8/2026. I will report back with pictures on 7/23. The email I received was the second reply from an inquiry I had made in October of 2024.
I wish there had been advance notice and a reopening event.

The underpass has been closed since 2023. Please take a moment and write or call anybody in power that you think may be able to get this path open ASAP even if there is work going on off the path.
The Salt Creek underpass under 294 has been closed/under construction since 2023. The current condition finds the path completely paved and the barriers on the east and west ends locked preventing pedestrians and bikers from using the under pass.

With the path paved, there is no reason the path cannot be opened. The site is left unworked for weeks at a time while fully paved.

Locking the underpass off creates an attractive nuisance. Tire marks tell the story of many adventurers getting around the barriers.

The areas to the side of the newly paved path that do need to be completed are no more of a hazard than the path through Bemis Woods with ruts, roots and ravines immediately off the path.

The path is currently left for weeks at a time without any work being done interrupted by bursts of work for a day or so at a time. If the agencies are worried about worker safety, let me remind you about the work done above on 294. Work was performed on an active roadway. I am sure construction professionals could find a way to work safely on bike path.

How do I release detergent with a non-working dispenser door? I believe everything technology connection says about pods. I was right about dishwasher pods, and now I can prove it
My soap dispenser broke.
I have attempted putting liquid and powder in cups on upper and lower racks with the idea that the cups will overflow at some point after the initial pre wash and soap will release at the right time.
Liquid detergent is heavier than water and does not fully leave the cup. Some powder is left in the bottom of a cup also. Tall cups on the bottom left upright overflow and detergent remains on the bottom.
I have mixed results.
How I got here.
My Kenmore/whirlpool dishwasher from 1999 (665.15972992) is going to cross the rainbow bridge. The soap dispenser door broke. The part is $200. The control board has behaved inconsistently for several months and is no longer available. After 27 years, it is time to cross the rainbow bridge.
New LG will arrive late July.

My docking station USB C does not connect consistently to my lap top.
What is my fix?
A) Do I attach a new USB C data power cable to the docking station?
B) Do I cut the cable near the USB C plug and and splice on a new plug.

The USB line from the docking statin feel much heavier than other USB C cables. Will the internal wires be the same? Are there kits for this you can link? Are all USB c cables the same and internal wires color coded the same?
I am working with a docking station, Dell WD19S, and a dell lap top, Dell Inspirion 16 5625.
Occasionally the USB C cable from the docking station is not recognized by the computer. For a few months I have been addressing this by plugging and unplugging the USB from the lap top and when that failed, rebooting the laptop if the USB reconnecting doesn't work.
EDIT: forgot to mention that the cap one the USB has come off. so far I have taped the cap back together the wires visually seem to be intact.

Reporting from Salt Creek Trail on the west side of 294 looking east.
The path on the west side of 294 seems to be suddenly getting attention. First two pictures show the same sewer behind the locked gate on March 30 and April 25. https://imgur.com/a/z5CDGqI. You can see the path has been built up around the sewer.
I hope there is an official grand reopening ceremony for this underpass.

Before reaching out to Active Transportation, I wrote to authorities and asked about the timeline for opening this underpass. I wrote to the Illinois Tollway, and Illinois Department of Transportation, Oak Brook Park District and Cook County Forest Preserves. I am still waiting. I never heard back from any of these agencies.
