If President Trump was told the USS Abraham Lincoln is beautifully maintained, then why doesn’t he pay a visit to the sailors on that ship?

Chances are that that visit would be as staged as his McDonalds photo-op that took place during the 2024 presidential campaign.

My Interpretation of JundJund

Greetings,

I started playing Dandan about a month ago, and it was a lot of fun for me that I've been looking for other variants and sharing this format with other players I know. I recently stumbled upon Travis Norman's concocted variation, JundJund, and I am personally intrigued that I wanted to build a list of my own.

Norman's article on JundJund can be found here in addition to his article explaining card selection. Dandan is still new to me, and I've personally have never played Jund in any of the sanctioned, 60-card formats. So it would be nice to get some feedback on this list. The Moxfield link has custom tags that help with the card categorization.

Differences:

  • Phyrexian Metamorph: A blue shapeshifter from N. Phyrexia that can become any of your favorite Jund creatures is an interesting inclusion. I tinkered with the removal package a little to account for the potential impact of Metamorph, and the shapeshifter can also be a relevant target for Kolaghan's Command.
  • Doom Blade: I didn't want to play Assassin's Trophy, and went with a different form of removal; it will destroy any creature with exception to Restless Cottage, Restless Vents, Bob, Detective, and Crusader.
  • Pyrokinesis: I have a somewhat soft spot for free removal, and the value gained from Pyrokinesis would exceed Firebolt if you recur it with Misinformation.
  • Thoughtseize: Due to some of the above-mentioned changes, I think this card is worth testing.

Why does it feel like President Trump only knows how to Respond with Tariffs to Things like Canadian Wildfire Smoke?

It is like the only person he has ever listened to for economic ideas is folks like Peter Navarro. Why doesn't he simply make a bi-lateral deal that leads to effective wildfire prevention?

Tom Homan warns there will be more ‘bloodshed’ unless Democrats ‘shut their mouths’

Put aside what you may think about the Democratic Party.

Put aside whether America will have immigration enforcement with or without ICE.

Put aside arguments about the impact of undocumented immigrants on American society.

This kind of speech is absolutely unacceptable; it is politically charged, it is extreme, it is every description that Republicans have used in the past ten years to describe their political opposition. What Tom Homan said affects every single person regardless of one's country of origin. No one person or American is a price to pay to justify what the current administration is doing. In the years I have grown up in this country, I have only found this kind of unhinged, extreme rhetoric unique only during the Trump Administration. What Tom Homan posed is a threat to every person residing in this Republic regardless of whether they capitulate to ICE because ICE is known for lying, killing people, and covering up the killings. The blood of folks like Renee Goode, Alex Pretti, Johan Sebastián Durán Guerrero, and Lorenzo Salgado Araujo are on Homan; Markwayne Mullin; and the President of the United States. You will not shut us up. Every single one of these fuckers needs to go.

And to every person that voted for this administration: this is also on you. All of this could be avoided if we voted for a competent administration that prioritizes country over party, but you instead prioritized the latter over the former. We will have to sit through this pandemonium and chaos for at least two more years and there is no fixing this. You cannot bring the dead back, nor can you save those who could lose their lives down the road.

The message is clear from scum like Tom Homan: if you vote Republican, you are asking that every person in the United States be threatened to be shot and possibly killed.

Why is the DOJ threatening Washington Election Officials for non-citizen voting and NOT Kansas Election Officials for Joe Ceballos?

That is like the Senator from Alabama (and fmr. college football coach) attacking certain blue cities for high crime rates while Alabaman cities have some of the highest homicide rates in the country. All the extreme, partisan Republicans know how to do these days is run on an issue instead of fixing it.

Why are folks complaining about centrist Democrats for SCOTUS rulings when we could have voted for Hillary Clinton in 2016 and prevented all that mess?

It is quite simple folks. Voting has the potential to make that kind of a difference.

Senbazuru in 25 x 31 inch Walnut Shadow Box

Paper: Tuttle Origami Paper 500 sheets 4 inch"

Other Materials: Studio Decor Shadow Box

This is not the first senbazuru I did (it is my second), and I was truly dragging my feet with this project I started at the beginning of the year. My interest in origami started last year when I decided on a whim that I wanted to fold cranes, and I am only good at folding cranes right now. There are people in my personal life to whom I have done these senbazuru projects for, and this new creation is going to a friend that is getting married next month. I would not be where I am in life without him, and I imagine being there to watch him tie the knot will be a lovely experience.

I only lurk around in this community, and find a lot of inspiration in the art people post. At the same time, people in my life found inspiration from the work I have done. So whatever gets you into folding paper, keep that up!

Should Certain Game Changers Be Treated Differently?

This is a discussion I had while playing a game last night; it was a five player Star Commander game involving Narset, Enlightened Exile, Akiri+Silas Renn Partners, Betor, Ancestro's Voice, B2 Kilo Apogee Mind, and my own Commander (I was playing Avacyn & Griselbrand, which my pod gave me permission to use. I am still trying to make changes so it performs appropriately in lower bracket-pods).

Besides the already clear power differential among decks, where 4C partners and Orzhov were smooth sailing, I feel that Smothering Tithe and Rhystic Study carried the game for the players that had them. This raises the question in the pod about certain game changers. Game changers are great in the right decks and conditions, but in a vacuum, some appear to stand out the strongest (possibly because they take advantage of the conditions of multiplayer gameplay, leading to game results that favors folks that use them). My Ancient Tomb and Mana Vault for instance are hardly comparable to how my Smothering Tithe performed. Seeing both Tithe and Rhystic on the Akiri+Silas Renn pilot's field made it more probable that they would carry the game. And there are other game changes I feel ought to be lumped into the same category (Gaea's Cradle and Seedborn Muse being some examples).

Is separating game changers into different groups a good idea for a more healthy Commander format? Why or why not? Are there things about this idea that ought to be considered before implementing it onto the format (additional research and community reception to new rules)? If you agree, which game changers in your opinion should be treated differently?

Spicy Miso Ramen @ Hanabi Ramen, Arlington VA

It’s my first time stepping foot in DC, and I decided to try one of the ramen restaurants tonight.

The ramen I ordered was packed. The broth was rich and level of spiciness was tolerable where I wasn’t breathing fire. I don’t recall having cabbage in ramen before, so its incorporation was different (good kind of different). Delicious!

If you ever step foot in DC, I would certainly give this restaurant a visit.

Why Should We Care About The Financial Situations of MAGA Voters?

The almighty god-emperor can drop a nuclear weapon on a civilization and people like Megyn Kelly would still vote Republican. They got us into this mess and raised the cost of living for the whole country, and the rest of us are sick of cleaning their mess up.

I grew up in the millennial generation, and perhaps my sensibilities and upbringing influences my attitudes and tolerance for slang. YOLO and swag were hit terms; I don't uses them personally, but have gotten more relaxed on those that do. Generation Z, growing up in a different period, have different slang that they use in their culture and communication, and there are some I use; vibes, slaps, sus.

I was playing Overwatch last night, and I saw someone uses the term ultmaxxing to describe an enemy unit maximizing the charge for their ultimate ability. And it is not only this instance. I have seen -maxxing applied to the word look (looksmaxxing), and maybe I recall seeing only one instance of sleepmaxxing used. I simply do not like it. It makes me feel that some folks are inconvenienced in articulating an activity, observation, or phenomena in the form of a sentence that they would rather apply a suffix as a substitute. And I think uses of words and language is important in human communication that you have to learn using it, otherwise you lose it. There is a concern with how slang evolves among the more younger generation that the older generation of folks and the rest of society have trouble keeping up. And I also think social media has an effect in how folks express themselves, so maybe it should be treated respectively.

And lets be clear. I am not the language police. You can freely articulate whatever you feel like in everyday conversations. I am articulating what I am seeing, expressing my preferences, and hope I am not alone in this.
