I’m wondering if there is a safe way to adapt my father’s machine with some pallet forks. I need to move some stuff around the property including full lifts of lumber. Thanks!
I’m not the most handy guy when it comes to fixing vehicles. My question is is it relatively simple to install a winch on this front end? Do I need to remove the bumper and/or install a different bumper? Part of the challenge is the truck is on a remote island where I have no indoor shop space and few tools
In another post, I had several comments saying I needed to use a different chain for ripping (I’m milling a large douglas fir with a 41” bar on a 881). I tried to see online how a Granberg ripping chain would be different than the one I’m currently using. The images I did find showed a chain that looked quite similar to the one I’m currently using (photos provided). If I were to switch chains, what would you suggest? Located in the Pacific northwest in British Columbia
I have a 48” sawmill attached to a 41” bar on an MS881. I made my first cut on a ~36” diameter Douglas Fir yesterday and it went well. I did notice that after the cut while the gas tank was nearly empty, the oil resevoir was only aboug 25-50% depleted. Today I started the second cut and the chain/bar acted as if the chain was too tight although in my opinion was not too tight. Whiffs of smoke/steam emanated from the far end of the cut (near the bar tip) and from behind the sprocket cover. What can I troubleshoot? Would clamping the mill too tightly to the bar tip impact movement?
I bought some ~600 year old cedar that I planned on hand splitting into shakes. I sampled one piece and the shakes split unevenly. Is there anything that can be done to avoid this? The wood has beautiful, straight, knot-free grain. I split perpendicular to the grain and the blocks are 20-24” long. I flipped the bolt over after each cut for taper.
I have an uninsulated cabin located near the ocean in the Pacific northwest. The structure is 3”x6” tongue and groove timber (think structural roof decking). I want to insulate the exterior walls with rigid insulation (combination of Gutex and Roxul). I also have basically unlimited quantities of 2x4 SPF and 3/4” plywood. My plan was to install (outboard of the timber structure) a smart membrane, then insulation, then 2x4 vertical strapping, then plywood, then ventilated underlayment mat, then cladding. One question I had was would it make sense to install 3/4” plywood (c/w seams taped) directly outboard of the timber frame for the air and vapour barrier? I felt this may help tightening everything up (plus we’re in a seismic zone). If membrane is much preferred, which membrane would you suggest using? I have a few rolls of Majvest and Intello+ on hand. Comments appreciated

I’m looking for a propane-fired water heater for an outdoor shower. The shower is downhill from the water tank by a few feet in elevation. Ideally it would accept a garden hose as a supply, if that is possible. I also prefer to avoid low-end appliances so I’m willing to spend a bit more for a better quality product. Any suggestions? I have a fairly new, low hour generator that just had the carburetor cleaned at a shop. I brought it home and I’ll be damned if I can start the thing. Am I missing something..?
Before taking it to the shop, I drained the fuel tank and replaced it with new low-ethanol gas from Chevron. Is my only option when starting is to choke or not choke? Should I be trying to start it in eco-mode? It doesn’t fire at all. tia
Uke is in turtle and tori is on uke’s right hand (for example) side. Tori’s left knee is against uke’s right knee and tori grabs uke’s right lapel with their left hand. Tori’s right hand then goes across the back and under uke’s left armpit and finally threading the same hand behind uke’s neck. tori then goes over uke’s back and rolls from uke’s left side. with a little scissor action, tori ends up in side control
