Looking to replace 12v port in ‘01 Silverado

As the title says, I’m trying to replace one of the 12v cigarette lighter ports on my 2001 Silverado. It’s the style where the 3 ports are underneath the HVAC controls. In the immediate future I’ll be installing the Metra double din conversion kit in order to fit a carplay head unit so I’m looking to add the Scosche dash port in as well to make it seamless.

When I remove the trim piece around the steering wheel, gauge cluster and head unit I don’t see any way to get behind the ports in order to replace them. Any help you guys have would be deeply appreciated, thank you!

PS - I just realized I could remove this little plastic cube next to the passenger air bag toggle, do you guys have any cool suggestions that could go in there?

Did I come up?

picked up this busted patio heater for free.99 on marketplace. that base part feels like it could be aluminum but the pipe itself feels like pure pennies. You guys know better than I would, is this a scrappers dream?

First time fajitas

overall was delicious af but i’m always hyper critical of my own meals. wasn’t a huge fan of the steak and it came out hella salty but juicing some lime slices over it and eating it with a tortilla helped balance it out.

Scale of 1-10 how screwed am I?

My 2001 5.3L just started making this ticking noise the other day seemingly out of nowhere. Changed my oil a couple weeks ago with Valvoline restore and protect. Any wisdom or advice? Thank you so much!

Where can I find these caps?

Hey everyone, just got some steel bullet hole rims on marketplace for a STEAL but they came with these center caps that screw onto the lug nuts. I love the idea and the look of them but I drive a chevy, not a GMC. I could settle with having a bow tie on them, but I’d prefer all black.

My problem is I can’t find them online anywhere and I’m also not even sure what to look up to find them. If you guys have any help or resources I’d deeply appreciate it, thank you!

Absolute no brainer of a purchase?

5 BFG 275/70/18 tires for $250. Dude is apparently a humongous tire seller in my area on marketplace. 4.6 star average with glowing reviews, but also some one stars where a guy claimed he’s “out $350” and “thanks for nothing” Just wondering if this is too good to be true or an absolute mandatory purchase for my GMT800. Thank you!

Disappointed with how my ribeyes turned out

not a fan of how my steaks turned out for the love season season 8 premier smh. what did i do wrong and where can i improve?

•seasoned with salt, pepper and thyme and let sit out while the Traeger preheated and i cracked a beer

•smoked at 225° on the traeger until about ~110°-112° then pulled and let to rest for a few minutes

•seared on a RIPPING hot blackstone over butter for about a minute and a half to 2 minutes for each side and let rest with butter over the top for awhile

i really thought they’d come out way better than they did, it feels like my fat didn’t even render correctly but then inside feels like it got overcooked from where i wanted it. am i just being over critical of myself or do i have some major improvements to make. they tasted alright at best but maybe i’m just being my own biggest hater

Setting myself up for success removing this muffler

Looking for advice on removing this muffler from my 2001 ext. cab Silverado. I don’t think it’s stock because it isn’t welded and I already removed the clamps that were holding it on.

Should I just cut the pipe right after the muffler? If so how do I ensure I have enough pipe to use for my already shorter Flowmaster 40 series that I want to replace it with. Any help you guys have would be deeply appreciated, thank you!

Water Pump

You guys have WAY more engagement than the Taurus sub does so I’m reaching out to you guys instead. I’m about to tackle the water pump in my 2014 Taurus limited with the same 3.5 v6 and am looking at what other parts I should replace while balls deep in the motor.

As of now I currently have:

  • Motorcraft water pump with the double gasket
  • Melling timing chain tensioner -Fel-pro valve cover gaskets -6 Motorcraft spark plugs

What I currently have in my Rock Auto cart:

-Melling primary timing chain -Fel-pro intake manifold gasket -Fel-pro intake plenum gasket

I’m just wondering what else should I look into replacing while in here without absolutely shattering my bank account. I’m also looking into any tips or resources you guys may have to make this job any easier, thank you!

Bought a used 36” on marketplace and immediately put it to work the other night making some ground beef. Tonight it earned its real wings and I made some sausage and pepper tortellini 😮‍💨 Definitely have some things I’d change next time but overall it was delicious. You guys have any more recipes for me to try?

(Forgot to add my corona in the photo)
