Is there some kind of psychological affinity in Norway for New Zealand, like the country equivalent of a sister-city, given the similarity of some of their iconic landscapes?

I was in New Zealand recently and some people said we're like a poorer Southern version of Norway and seemed to hold the country in great affection. I wonder if that's just totally anecdotal or whether Norwegians think of NZ in that (or any) way

Why doesn't Jakob Ingebrigtsen get as much love and credit in Norway as proportionate to his achievements, given he's probably up there with Haaland as Norway's best athlete in a mainstream summer sport?

Obviously asking in the wake of his win yesterday, which is a phenomenal achievement after such a long injury. But the feeling I get is he isn't liked all that much because there is a perception that he may be arrogant or a bit of a prick. But this is someone who was (allegedly) brought up harshly by his dad, who used to slap his face when he was a kid, and he's broken out out of that and continues to be one of the greatest ever middle-distance runners.

I slapped the older teenage brother of the boy I'm babysitting across the face for bullying his little brother

I'm 22 female, and have babysat for this family with two boys since I was about 15. They have two boys, one is 15 himself now, and his younger brother who is 7. They get along with me really well and their mother is really sweet and trusts me too.

This Saturday their mother had work and needed me to be there to babysit the younger boy. However, the older son has reached that age where he can be a bit teenage tantrum-my, and has some weekend homework to do that he never does unless supervised. So I know she appreciates me keeping an eye on him too, especially since even in front of me he swore at his mother once and she grounded him and sent him to his room but it didn't make much difference.

The 7 year old was playing with some toys that his brother kept snatching out of his hand just to annoy him. He kept doing it again and again and I told him not to firmly but he ignored me. The fourth time I stretched out my hand to take the toy from him to give to his brother. And he spat on my hand.

With his spit still wet on my hand, I drew my hand back and gave him a very hard slap, right across his face. Like a proper movie slap, his head snapped to the right, his hair flew all over, and you could basically get my fingerprints off his left cheek with how clearly my fingermarks showed on it. His own spit had been transferred from my hand back on his face and was dripping off it.

I was furious. He began to cry and INSTANTLY handed the toy over. I took him by the arm and marched him to his study table, and set his homework in front of him. He immediately started doing it and became overly polite. He asked for help when he was stuck, said please and thank you, and gave his brother no trouble at all.

When his mother came, he told her I had slapped him. She asked me and with no apology, I told her I did, and that I am comfortable I did the right thing. If she wanted to let me go, that was fine.

She immediately said she did not want to - her younger son (and even her older son) like me a lot and she trusts me completely. Her older son is grounded for a week, and he personally apologises to me, which I accept.

It has made me second guess myself though. I've never hit anyone before, and these are two boys I know and like very much. And I hit one across his face, obviously not allowed, and felt no guilt and still feel very little about. That is upsetting me a little about myself, and yet, I just know if he dares to do it again, he's getting another slap on his face.

I was slapped across my face by an American teen soccer fan while celebrating a Belgium goal during their win over the US in a Miami fan park I didn't retaliate, but people gaslit me saying I shouldn't have provoked him. I just really wish I had hit him back and can't let the public humiliation go.

22-year old Danish guy here, on holiday in the US watching the World Cup.

On the day of US-Belgium game, two of my friends and I went to a fan park in Miami to watch. Obviously that red card Balogun controversy was a huge deal, and we were supporting Belgium (partly Euro solidarity, partly because we thought it was unfair US got special treatment).

There were thousands of people and it was quite nice. Belgium were winning which was great, I had actually bought and was wearing a Belgium football shirt. When they scored their third goal about 40 minutes before the end of the game, I let out a huge yell of celebration which caused heads to turn.

I continued celebrating (not loudly, but not hiding it either) with my friends. And this tall young guy, was probably 18 or 19 was there with his girlfriend and was getting kind of annoyed at us and was in a bad mood because US were losing. He turned around and glared at me, and I defiantly pointed to the Belgian crest on my jersey and moved my face towards him.

At that, he raised his arm and struck me very hard across my face with an open-handed slap. And said "point to that". I was shocked for a second and then angry. I'm not a fighter but he had quite a slender build and I would probably have been able to hit him back and fight him. But my friend pulled me back. After all the place was full of Americans and none of us wanted the police to come and arrest us; us being foreigners would not have helped. He then pushed me and my friends got in between and we were separated while he was still taunting me.

But I spent the next half hour coping and seething while he turned around and pointed out he could still see his fingerprints on my slapped face. I kept thinking I had done nothing to earn my slap and should have slapped or punched him back, and even though it's been many days I keep playing the slap in my head furious that I did not physically retaliate.

Had my face slapped around by a couple of teenage boys in Tegucigalpa who stole my and my girlfriend's wallet and kissed her. Any point in telling the police or should we let it go?

Sorry if this a bit long but I am more humiliated than traumatised. My girlfriend and I are from Denmark and been in Honduras for about five days. Tomorrow is our last day here. We're 20 years old, and we had a great trip and met so many lovely people and did cool things.

We were at a club on Saturday night with a couple of friends, and we ended up staying quite late. Our hotel was less than a 10 minute walk so when we were ready to leave around 1am, we decided we'd just walk instead of calling a cab. We normally take extra care and just take a taxi even if the distance is short when it's nighttime.

Anyway, I was using Google Maps on my phone to navigate my way. With my phone out like that, I in hindsight realise I was very stupidly making myself a target for petty crime. Anyway, Maps took me into a narrow side street which was not well lit at all and felt a little sketchy.

Suddenly three teenage boys came into view. One of them put a hand on my chest and stopped me, and another one produced gave me a slap on my face and told us to hand our phone and wallet and purse over. My girlfriend gave hers immediately and I gave my phone, and when one boy asked for my wallet, I stupidly said that I didn't have it.

One of the boys, who was clearly the leader then slapped me very hard across the face again and said if you don't want more, give me your wallet. I quickly got out my wallet and gave it to him, but it made him even more angry that I had lied.

He then slapped me hard across the face again, and then the boys pinned me to a wall and just took turns slapping my face. I was both hurting and humiliated and started crying and apologising. After about 20 slaps or so and because I was crying loudly, they probably didn't wanna attract attention and stopped, and then one of the boys said they'd leave but one wanted to kiss my girlfriend first.

He then turned to her and put a hand on her cheek and kissed her on the lips. She did it because we just wanted the situation to end. And then the guy who kissed her slapped my face one last time and they ran away laughing.

My gf is obviously very upset and I'm feeling humiliated. It's a shame that this happened at the end of such a wonderful trip. I got my cards blocked so it's no big deal and thankfully we didn't carry too much cash on us.

Is there any point telling the police or should we just go back home?

Weird post alert, but is it just my Twitter feed or is there a weirdly great amount of sexual attention Brazilian guys are paying to Swedish footballer Lucas Bergvall because of his looks?

No idea if I should even be asking this here lol.

It might just be my algorithm since I am a Brazil football fan and consuming a lot of World Cup content. But I am seeing so many tweets on my X feed auto-translated into English from Portuguese about this. It'll be a picture of Bergvall, shirtless or just looking good with Brazilians joking among themselves that Brazilian guys are thirsting after him lol.

I'll just link to a couple of the posts [https://x.com/copostanley2525/status/2065830438686339275\] and just look at the comments below them [https://x.com/gabbjorel/status/2065125294789243284\], it's a pretty funny level of attraction and fantasy people are expressing. Just curious if anyone from here is on X and noticed that

I know British Transport Police opened an investigation into the man who slapped the teen boy, but was it ever made public if anything came of it?

All I know was the boy and his friends seemed to be chucking litter at this man assuming no one would do anything and then got slapped quite hard. Video went viral at the time (around 2023) and there's a tweet from Transport Police saying they were investigating. Just wondered what became of it

My sister's bf is a Zimbabwean student in the UK. He slapped her across the face twice for sleeping with another boy. I asked her to consider breaking up, but she gets mad at me, says it's none of my business. She said she got slapped for cheating not, because he's abusive. Could that be true?

We're English, and grew up in London. My sister has completed her first year of university in London, and met her bf there. He's from Zimbabwe, here on a scholarship, really clever, charming and outgoing. They've been seeing each other for a year, and he often comes over to our house. I hang out with him too, play video games etc, and he sometimes comes with me to play football with my friends.

This weekend my sister and I are just relaxing at home watching TV and he walks in. I say hello in a friendly way but he ignores me, takes my sister by the arm a little roughly and sits her on a chair directly facing him. And says to her directly, "Did you let (X) screw you at the party this weekend?" One look at her face and I knew the answer was yes, but she said no.

He responded by raising his right hand and swiping it across my sister's face, giving her such a sharp slap I could see her skin turn from white to pink immediately.

"I asked you a question and I expect you to answer it honestly." Another slap across her left cheek, just as hard. I got up to try and intervene and he said if you don't want one too, sit down and pushed me back into my chair. He's a boxer and though he's younger, I know he's much more physically strong than me. So I sat down for the moment.

My sister starts crying and admits that she slept with the boy he suspected. He tells her she's dumped and storms out. She sat there crying for about 10 minutes and I could still see the bruise where his slaps had struck her face. I thought whatever mistakes she made it was good they'd broken up, but the next day I find out she apologised to him and they are back again. I told her it was better to remain apart and she refuses, and begged me not to tell our mother. (Being from a conservative family, she'd be madder than my sis cheated than that her bf slapped her).

I am at a loss what to do while my sister dates a boy who slapped her across the face when she made a mistake. She says she got punished for cheating, and not abused, but just punished for something she deserved. At one point she got angry and even accused me of racism. She's 19 and I'm a couple of years older so I'm naturally protective, but as she's an adult, should I trust her judgment on this?

Apologies for the slightly rude question. But I asked here last week a question about my boyfriend, who is from Asuncion, in Copenhagen and whether his mother slapping him was normal discipline in Paraguay. [https://www.reddit.com/r/Paraguay/comments/1t099yb/comment/okcq98y/\]

Since everyone was so generous and I got so many answers, I wanted to ask a slightly more intimate question since this is anonymous. We've been seeing each other for almost a year, we're both 22 and work at a coffee shop where we met and began dating.

He's great with me and we get along very well and we're compatible in the bedroom thankfully lol. But one thing I never understood is one of the things that gets him really excited. He has these two football shirts of two different clubs. Sorry for too much information, but when we are having sex or I am giving oral sex, he will often make me wear one of these shirts, and wear the other one himself. It's something that I can tell gets him really excited (because I can feel it obviously lol).

Whenever I ask him what that is about, he just smiles and kisses me and changes the subject. But it's such a common thing now that sometimes before he comes over I will even put on the shirt without him asking me to. I just have no idea what about it gets him so excited but I just wanna make him happy.

Does anyone here know what this is/has anyone done or experienced it?

I'm 21, Danish, in the US on holiday. Got drunk and ended up hitting up on a girl in Miami who was with her boyfriend. Had poor judgement, and the guy ended up slapping me across the face once. I pushed him, and then learned he was an excellent fighter, and punched me in the face four times.

The fourth one, to my left jaw, sent me to the floor, though I was conscious throughout. My eye was almost completely swollen shut and my lips were far bigger early on, but I have been icing and taking painkillers, and swelling and pain have all generally come down.

I'm on day four now, and the pain is almost all gone. The right eye is opening up and letting me see with no issues. The lips are still more swollen than I'd want and causing some local pain, and there's a tiny bit of purplish bruising on my cheeks which may be visible in picture.

But I feel lucid, and better, every day. Does this look like a normal recovery from a facial beating?
