Written patterns with banner ads are the worst

I use free patterns 90% of the time because etsy is flooded with ai and fake stuff. Well, im using a pattern from this blog post except for every few minutes, the ads reload or something and it causes the whole webpage to “adjust.” If i was on row 12, after the page reloads and, ill be where an ad is and when I scroll away, I’ll be at row 3!

I would think this a mild inconvenience but i noticed i followed the wrong row a while back and now it looks… wonky but i already cut my thread so im not frogging it.

UGH AAAHHHHH ADS ARE THE WORST

Keeping cars from melting in the heatwave?

How are yall keeping your cars okay during the heat wave?

Ive never had such an issue with heat before, but i moved here from a more northern state. My complex doesnt have covered parking and barely any trees, so shade is out. And my car is black with black leather interior 💀

What I’m thinking is the windshield covers but I’m looking for recommendations and any other tips you have. Like do you get extra windshield covers and put them on the side windows too?

Question on Full sized tote bag: how can i add gold bands along the strap?

Im making this knot bag for my sister, its a wedding gift. I made a (mini) mock up, and the pattern works great. However, my sister wants me to include gold rings along the strap so she can attach things to the bag. However, thats not in the pattern and I can’t see it in my minds eye. If it would look good or mess up the flow, I am not sure and am worried. I want her to be happy with the bag but I really dont know how the heck to put a gold cuff/ring/band/ring/SOMETHING there and make it look good.

How would you add a gold accessory/detail to a bag like this with the striped fabric?

The last two images are the bags my sister sent me as inspiration for the good detail.

My fabric is a polyester blend and the pattern is from whatteganmade on instagram. Ill put a link in the comments.

I mixed up centimeters and inches: birth of the mini bag

I was following a short tutorial for whatteganmade on instagram’s knot bag. Shes australian so the fabric size was in centimeters. Thats awesome cause my ruler has centimeter marks in between the inches! So i measure out and cut the fabric and sew the sides together. Its… oddly small but yknow it is kind of a small bag. It became abundantly clear i messed something up when i tied the knot in the center and there were only like 4 inches left on the side

I measured my fabric by quarter inches. Not centimeters. The /back/ of my ruler has centimeters, and the ticks between the inches are in fact not centimeters. So my bag is teeny tiny and i learned to make sure im using the right ruler before measuring.

This was a spur of the moment late night project so i blame being eepy

Expectation vs Reality for Jester Clown Hat

I spent hours on this thing but the hat from the video was custom/has cool alterations not from the base pattern (i didnt know in the beginning and then tried to emulate it).

Pattern is https://vandalyarnz.com/?utm_source=ig&utm_medium=social&utm_content=link_in_bio&fbclid=PAdGRleAST7FVleHRuA2FlbQIxMQBzcnRjBmFwcF9pZA8xMjQwMjQ1NzQyODc0MTQAAacZ9vSBKAosoX690I0tkQaguE-8U3Pygyby8FGxfapA0h9fLCONYWt9pM9alw_aem_aA7Qtu2gJOG4kg8Xy0KbKw for jester hat.

I am a little sad about the rigidness of the horns and that there wasnt instructions in the pattern for how to get the long slouchy look from some of the artist’s iconic lewk :(

My husband thinks its cute but i think this is one of those things i finish and then never look at again 🧍🏽‍♀️at least the yarn was free (aka old in my closet)

If you have made this pattern before, let me know how it went for you! Any alterations you made to get the slouchy horns without losing their fullness?

+ some progress pics

(Reupload cause some pics didnt attach the first time)

Edit: I DIDNT REALIZE IT MADE ME LOOK BALD I CHOSE BROWN CAUSE I LIKE THE COLOR!!!! It was supposed to be like coffee or raspberry chocolate themed 🤕

Edit2: I saw a 360 of some of their hads and noticed that the slouchy ones barely had stuffing in the part closest to the head so i (as has been pointed out) GROSSLY overstuffed the base of the horn. I might go fishing with a crochet hook to pull some excess out later and see how that goes.

The hidden evil in half of my skeins: secret knots

This yarn is dark enough that the overall look wont be disturbed if the knot ends up on the right side of my project but still AAAGGGGHHHH. And i never realize until its right up close to me hook 💀

Do yall mostly see this in cheap yarn?

Edit: I didnt know this was a whole thing. I rarely run into this, definitely not enough to have a set nondramatic reaction to them. Thanks to everyone saying to russian join them because factory knots can be weak. I honestly dont crochet that much so i wasnt aware of the sustainability purpose of it. So thanks for the info and ill stop calling them evil. Maybe… mildly inconveniencing. Mildly frustrating.

How do i make a second row for ruffles? I would like my ruffles to be longer

Im crocheting a cap with a ruffle edge, but even with treble crochet, the ruffles look a little short. What increment of increases should i do on a second row on top of the rufffles to make them longer? I have no idea where to start there. Picture for reference

How do you keep high waisted bottom up over tights?

I got a pair of tights to wear under a high waisted thong bottom, but the sides slip down to low waisted pretty quickly and ruin the look. This picture of Chappell Roan is close to what im going for, but im not wearing a corset so theres nothing to wedge it under to hold it up.

Any advice for keeping a high waited bottom up over tights? I havent tried fashion tape or sewing it on yet cause i dont want to damage my capezios in case it doesnt work out.

Thanks in advance!

What community pools do yall like?

I want to go swimming, but im not familiar with the pools in the area. When i google pools near me, i get a lot of apartment pools, club pools, and the ymca. I just wanna pay a little to swim for the day.

I saw a pool in goodletsville but then saw some discourse that they might be closing down? And i dont wanna drive all the way out for a pool thats out of business. Its bad for my spirit.

So where do you take the family swimming that isnt a waterpark or monthly subscription (ymca im looking at you).

Alternatively, if this type of pool doesn’t exist here, also please let me know. Im new and still feeling it all out

Wristbands came in! Opinions on cashless?

This is my first Roo and was a birthday present for my partner (he figured it out ahead of the surprise cause im super conspicuous)

In the package with the wristbands, there was a lil snippet about cashless paying, synced with your wristband. I think this is a cool idea! But with the crowds, im worried about people tapping it while im not looking and charging me without my intention.

Is there some sort of signature/limited activation time like with apple pay or google pay? Where you have to put in a passcode first before using the contactless payment and then it times out after 15 seconds or so?

I think cashless is a cool idea but i dont wanna walk too close to a shady person and get my venmo drained.

Have yall used cashless? Is this a concern you have? Do you just use cash/card/other contactless payment methods?

Obligatory first timer q: what’s your favorite part about bonnaroo?

{An arcane inheritance by kamilah cole) suffers the sting of my blade

My partner and i are reading this for a book club that meets tomorrow morning, but we havent finished yet. Since we only bought 1 copy and need to finish, we cut the book down the spine. Ill likely finish my part before he gets to my current spot, so it works out!

I used tape to “seal” ish the coverless new front and back pages, and when this is all over ill probably add another piece of tape to put the two halves together.

It was really jarring but fun to take a knife to the spine though. I recommend doing it even just once. At the end of the day, enjoy it however you see fit!
