It looks grim rn but these scenes are here for a reason. Toby is clearly telling us that Kris has a crush on Susie. The fact that suselle is being thrust into the spotlight now, even though at least two chapters remain is also suspicious, normally, a confession would have been held back until the final chapter. So its not unlikely there will be some conflict likely leading to a confession from Kris over the next two chapters. Even though it currently looks like it might be a one-sided crush story plot, toby is a good writer and it could absolutely be a lot more than that, we do not yet know the full picture of what Toby is setting up with these scenes.
Kris clearly didnt mean it, they do this usually when they dont agree with the players answer... so they seem kinda jealous? i mean like writing wise this pretty obviously is supposed to show Kris likes Susie as more than a friend imo.
