Freshman will be required to live on campus beginning next year

I feel like this is a horrible decision. I know tons of kids, I included, who chose temple specifically so we could live at home and take the train in. This is going to make a lot of people mad.

Why are some Wendy’s delayed by two weeks for LTO’s?

I’ve noticed one of the stores near me has been constantly delayed by two weeks when it comes to limited time items. They didn’t get the Banana Frostee until the end of June, and now they don’t have the Pretzel Pub burger. Like there aren’t even signs for it, just the old sign for the Minions meals, which I assume that means they still have those.

So many issues with Financial Aid, can't get a hold of anyone.

You've already seen me post twice about Financial Aid, and still nothing has been resolved. I am at my absolute whitts end with them, and I will have to drop out if I don't get these issues resolved.

- The new financial aid portal is INCREDIBLY confusing. What the Financial Aid portal is showing is different from what the TUPay portal is showing. I do not know how much I need to cover out of pocket.

- My transfer student grant is missing. I should still be getting it.

- I am having issues with the PA State Grant. I understand this is not a Temple issue, but I just need help with it. Whenever I try to put my program of study in the PHEAA application, nothing shows up in the dropdown menue. I have been emailing and calling PHEAA since May, and no one has been able to help me.

- Whenever I try to make an appointment with finanial aid office, it says it's closed. I go on as early as 9AM, and still nothing. I cannot get down to campus at this moment, so I need a virtual appointment.

Don’t follow Bucksco.today

Please read my comment for an explanation on the issues with bucksco.today. The last picture is an example of the sneaky plagiarism they do by constantly “crediting” the author they plagiarize. The plagiarism thing has been going on for the last three years, but this AI thing is new.

Financial Aid portal stuck in a loop

On the cost and aid tab of TUPortal, it says that I need to submit one thing. When I click it, it brings me to this on the financial aid portal. But then, when I click this, it just brings me right back to this page. What do I do?

I can’t figure out how to prevent a headache after biking

For as long as I can remember, I have had issues with hydration and getting headaches. Early on, I dealt with constant vomiting after even the lightest amount of exercise, but that has thankfully gone away. 6 years ago, I started biking once or twice per week, and for the most part, I’ve been ok with just two simple 24 ounce drinks before and during/after the ride.

But over the last year, I have suddenly started to get a headache after my rides. The headache can range from mild to absolutely UNBEARABLE! I have done everything I see online to prevent it, but nothing is working. Here’s an example of my latest bike ride.

- Wake up, eat Frosted Flakes with milk and a nutri grain bar.

- Drink 48 ounces of water, and an entire Gatorlyte.

- Half hour later, ride 7.2 miles for 45 minutes. During ride, I have a hydration backpack that I ended up drinking 15 ounces of, plus another Gatorlyte that I drank the entirety of. Temperature at the end of ride was around 81° with 35% humidity.

- At end of ride, drink another Gatorlyte, half of a 24 ounce water bottle, and eat another nutri grain. Take shower, 25 minutes later eat lunch, which was a chicken pot pie. I read that you need sodium after workout, and pot pies have a lot.

Despite all of this, four hours later, I got by far the worst headache I’ve EVER had. I debated going to the hospital, but held off after taking two xtra strength Tylenols.

I questioned whether I was pushing myself too much. I currently ride my bike about 5-8 miles per ride, which is a step up from the 3-6 I used to do. But two weeks ago, I did a mere 3 mile ride and I STILL got a headache. I am very close to giving up bike riding because the headache is just too much. PLEASE HELP!

Penn State Certification or Miss State BOMP?

Hi there! I am currently a senior at Temple University majoring in Broadcast Journalism. I have been into meteorology since I was a kid, and initially I majored in environmental at my community college back in 2020. But, after having much trouble with math, I switched to journalism. In 2024, I got my associates in journalism, and transferred to Temple University to complete a bachelors in broadcast journalism. This past semester, I was the weatherman on our school news, Temple Update, and I haven’t felt any greater joy than i did doing that. Although I do enjoy anchoring and reporting, this past semester reminded showed me that meteorology is really what I should be doing. At one of my shows, a retired local meteorologist that I grew up watching every morning came to one of our shows, and he encouraged me to get a meteorology degree. Temple doesn’t have meteorology, so I can’t change my degree here.

Right now, my plan is to finish this broadcast journalism degree, but after that is where I am stuck about how to get the experience needed to be an ON SCREEN meteorologist. I have no intent to work at NWS or in more technical roles. I have limited my choices down to Mississippi States online Broadcast Meteorology bachelors, or Penn States Meteorology certification. I would much rather do the Penn State program because it’s much quicker and much cheaper, but I don’t know if that is seen as ample certification to get into the broadcast meteorology field. So, can I have advice on which program to do?

What is this vibe/style from the late 60s/early 70s called?

Not sure if this is the right subreddit, but I am absolutely obsessed with this asthetic that many commercials used in the late 60s/early 70s. I found that ABC made heavy use of it in their promos from 1968-1973, and I also found it in McDonalds commercials, as well as the PBS show “The Electric Company.” The aesthetic is characterized by this animation style that usually has a black background, and has these icons with thin lines. Very hypnotic. Largely accompanied by a moog synthesizer, as you hear in the beginning of this clip. Oddly I’ve also found that many have mono audio, and a red tint. This clip is an extreme example. Not in this video, but I also found that the commercials were usually narrated by guys with deep, raspy voices. Someone who clearly smoked a lot.

Morning or night?

Alright guys, two weeks ago I posted on here my fears about this med, and I’ll be honest, I am still terrified of taking this. And to make matters worse, my dad has suddenly started practically BEGGING me NOT to take it because apparently my uncle was jailed years ago after he became aggressive and started attacking people from a DIFFERENT ADHD med. but I know I have to take this, I have to.

Anyways, I FINALLY got the med yesterday after a whole thing with insurance pre approval. I was going to take it tonight with my usual 12:30AM Buspirone after many of you said it causes drowsiness. BUT, now I’m reading a bunch of you say it causes insomnia, not drowsiness. I already have issues with insomnia; lately my sleep has been between 5AM-12:30PM. I’d rather this make me drowsy so I can take it at night, because I know insomnia can happen regardless of time the pill is taken. So, should I take this at 12:30AM, or 12:30PM???

Will I get weird looks for playing in the sprayground?

I am a 24 year old guy, and I want to know if I can play in the spraygound at Junod Park without getting weird looks. I used to go here with my mom when I was a teenager, and I’ve been wanting to go back ever since I started driving a few years ago. But every time I think of going, I always am worried that I will get yelled at by a parent or called a creep for going by myself as an adult. With tomorrow being so hot, and being that I have time in the afternoon, I’d like to give it a try. I know there are public pools, but I love things with spraying features. I am high functioning autistic, so that could play into why I like it, but I personally don’t think it’s noticeable at first sight.

So what do you think, is it appropriate for me to go? And if it is ok to go, can I wear a bathing suit, or is that too weird?

Icloud making me verify PayPal account that was closed

My ICloud account is linked to a PayPal account that my dad closed a few years ago. Even though there is another payment method in the ICloud account (my active debit card), it is still making me verify the PayPal account. Account Manager online and on IPhone won't let me remove the PayPal account unless I verify it, which obviously I can't do because it's closed. What do I do?

I’m starting Qelbree next week, but I’m terrified of its side effects.

Hi, I am starting Qelbree next week. But I am super worried about irritability and ED with it. The more I look through this subreddit, the more I hear the horror stories about it. I have issues with being indecisive (could be related to my ADHD,) and it has taken me a long time to finally come to the decision to get onto an ADHD med. My executive functioning issues are just too much for me to ignore, and I read all the positive things ADHD people say about meds.
But, my main problem is that my dad is very much against me doing any ADHD meds of any kind, because our family has a long and horrible history of drug abuse. I agreed not to go onto a stimulant, which is why the doctor chose Qelbree. But he still thinks I don’t need it, and that I am just lazy. Deep down, I know I need ADHD meds, but I also do not want the side effects.

EDIT

Another, very important thing that is making me scared is that the doctor was a fill in for my main doctor who’s on maternity leave, and she seemed unsure about anything ADHD med related. She and I both looked up non stimulant ADHD meds together, and it was me who found Qelbree as the second option. The first option, Straterra, I said no to because ED was the top side effect. Qelbree had no mention of ED, until I saw it on this subreddit. She had never heard of it, but she said it didn’t interact with my Buspirone anxiety med, so it should be good.

So, should I go on Qelbree and risk being an irritable and angry POS to people and develop ED, or just listen to my dad and just deal with the fact that I’ll be a useless POS because I have no executive functioning skills and end up poor? Because that’s all I’m seeing right now, either outcome is going to be bad.

The late 90s was the most luxurious time in modern history

Whenever I think of the late 90s, I think of luxury. The economy was booming, and styles that are usually associated with luxury were popular, such as the “Cheesecake Factory esc” design, dark marble surfaces, and dim, warm lightning. Celebrity culture was at its peak, early enough to avoid the over-sexualization of the 2000s, but late enough to see celebrities by more than just a character they played that was common in the 80s. Martini culture was at its peak, and French cuisine took off. And the music felt rich, with this sorta slow but nice jazz being common for theme songs. And if you ever watch commercials from the time, many seem to use this sorta editing style that’s slow, but moves a lot with bright warm colors, giving off the vibe of a “luxurious dream.” And of course, the popular fonts of the time screamed luxury with fonts like Garamond being popular.

Wellbutrin, Straterra or something else?

On Thursday, I will be going to the doctor to get on ADHD meds. I’ve been approved for meds last year, but I held off because he started me on Buspirone for anxiety as well, and I didn’t want to start two new meds and be confused which one was causing a side effect, if one occurred. Now that it’s been a year, with no side effects from Buspirone, I would like to start anxiety meds. I will not be doing a stimulant, as my family has a long history of addiction. I nearly got addicted to Percs a few years that I was using for kidney stone pain, but the doctor caught me, and took me off.

Based on my research, I believe that either Wellbutrin or Straterra will work best for me. But I am at an impasse on which one I should ask for.

- I do not want the med to cause a low sex drive/ED. Straterra is known to cause this. I’ve also read that Straterra can cause drowsiness and irritability.

- Straterra though seems to be a bit of a better fit for my ADHD symptoms. I’m not depressed, and I’ve read that Wellbutrin is mostly used for people who lack motivation, which I don’t really lack. Straterra is good for people with executive dysfunction, which is my main issue.

So with all of that, which is the best for me? Or is there another non stimulant that could work?

McDonald’s, KFC and possibly Taco Bell DoorDash outage

It seems that McDonalds and KFC are having an outage with their DoorDash systems. First DoorDash order I accepted at 8:35PM to a McDonalds, and they said they didn’t have the order. Get two other orders that are good, and then one to KFC. They don’t have the order either. Immediately after, I accepted an order to a different McDonalds, once again they don’t have the order. One order in between that works fine, then to a separate McDonalds. Drive through guy tells me that they aren’t seeing any DoorDash order, and there are are two other DoorDashers parked in the reserved drive through spots waiting for the order to be made. Unlike the last three, this store made the order for me, the other two I had to unassign.

I put the possibly Taco Bell because I know they aren’t seeing any owned by Pepsi along with KFC, so they may be having the same issue. I haven’t gotten an order from them yet though, so I’m not sure.

Location: Philadelphia area, PA.
