Finding a personal assistant

I'm in my 40s, retired, and live alone. I'm pretty much a recluse and have been thinking of getting a personal assistant, which is something I never dreamed of doing for my personal life. The catalyst was my health problems and the fact that I live alone. So if something were to happen to me it'd probably be months before anyone noticed. I already have a private chefs who makes my meals and does my grocery shopping. And while this might not be the responsibilities of a typical personal assistant, I wanted someone who can check in on me to make sure I'm still alive and simply help me find people for tasks. For example, an interior designer (I've looking to redecorate and feel overwhelmed by the options), shopping for clothes, or on random projects. For example, I recently decided to catalogue my book collection and while I don't mind doing it myself it's incredibly time intensive.

There was a company in the US that helped find c-suite executive assistants which I used before I retired. Unfortunately, they only work within the US and I haven't been able to find anything similar in Toronto.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated and happy to give more details if that would help as well. Thanks.

Question about KOReader Plugin and highlights

I’m using BookFusion’s new plugin with KOReader on my Kobo Libra Color. I noticed that the highlights I make on the web or iOS app, which much have different colors for different highlights, don’t appear in the respective color on my Kobo Libra Color. Instead they are all the same color.

This isn’t a big issue at all. Just curious if I did something wrong and if there’s a way to sync the color of highlights across all devices.

Thanks!

Help with extra spaces on mp3tag and exporting help

Sorry if I can’t word this correctly.

I’ve been starting my hoarding project/journey and noticed some fields have added spaces to the start or the end in fields. I created an action using AI to remove them which I believe works so far.

I also had AI (sorry, I couldn’t do this on my own) create something to put on the filter search bar to see if any songs did have extra spaces. It worked for a while and I just noticed that it wasn’t working properly anymore.

Does anyone know how I can create something where I can filter out to see if any tracks do have extra spaces in the metadata?

Also, is there any way at all I can export each track’s metadata to a JSON file?

Thanks so much and again apologies if I didn’t explain things well/clearly.

Question about setting up default highlights

I signed up for BookFusion back in April and just started using it with the KOReader extension and it’s absolutely amazing.

I had a weird question to ask and hope I can explain it clearly. I use highlights a lot and like to have set colors for different things like passages, concepts to research, etc. Is there a way I can assign a few set colors for each of these to quickly have them available when highlighting?

Need some help deciding on what DAP to buy after the XM2 I ordered got lost/delivered to the wrong address

Sorry as this post will get long.

After getting back into the hobby after roughly 10 years of just not listening to much music, I've spent a fair amount of money buying adaptors, Questyle M15i, along with a few headphones and IEMs. After about a month I decided I should have just bought a DAP instead and settles on the XM2. Unfortunately, I've had issues with Amazon and FedEX consistently delivering my packages to the wrong address. (I live in downtown Toronto and it's either delivered to the condo across the street from me or to the wrong person in my building.) Thankfully, I've always been able to retrieve my packages. I bought the XM2 from a local retailer as I didn't want to pay the few hundred in duties that I usually get charged when buying something from the US or overseas. This was delivered using Canada post which I've never had issues with and they either lost the package or it was delivered to someone else. It's not the sellers fault and unfortunately I have zero recourse.

So now I'm looking to buy another DAP and limited my search to physical stores I can buy from to avoid any issues like this from happening.

I really prefer a non-Android DAP mainly because I'm getting older and never owned any Android devices and while maybe ten years ago I would have loved to tinker and explorer a new OS it's not something I want to do now. I really liked the design the size of the XM2 as well.

With that said, I'm fine with an Android DAP even though it was something I was hoping to avoid. To make my search even more difficult I love the gimmicky aspects of the M21 with their cassette case or the fact that I can buy apps like NostalgicPod to get the feeling of an iPod. (I guess running Android does have its benefits.) I also don't mind a battery life of roughly 5 hours but would prefer longer batteries.

The players I've found that I can buy locally are the following:

M21

Song NW-A306

iBasso DX180

Shanling M6 Ultra (I prefer not to pay this much though)

Shanling M5 Ultra

Cayin N3Ultra

I'm also in no rush and can wait until early next year. Any advice would be much appreciated.

Is there a way to find original release date for episodes?

I’m working on something that’s in the early stages and one of the few things I’m missing is the original release date of all their episodes. Does anyone know if there is any place or way that I can find them?

My end game (I think) and a thank you to this sub

A few weeks ago I made this post and not only did I get some advice advice, but more kind words and encouragement that I ever imagined. I've always loved music and had a decent setup with my Focal Bathys, Bang & Olufsen Beoplay EX, and a couple Sony Headphones and ear buds along with Air Pod Pros, but I wanted to dive into IEMs.

After stumbling across the Crinear Reference everything I read and watched made me think it was exactly what I wanted and it did not disappointed. I got the Reference before the M15i and tested it out with the Apple Dongle and I was immediately blown away.

Just received the M15i today and listened to a few FLAC albums that I had bought from Qobuz and I'm not sure if the unit I received is broken, but I couldn't hear much of a difference and if I turned the volume up after a certain point it kept cutting off and turning staticy. (Sorry for that's not the right way to describe it.) I actually wanted to get the Astell&Kern HC5 and honestly right now I'm regretting my choice. I haven't read a single negative review on the M15i though so I'll give it another test tonight or tomorrow.

Just wanted to thank this sub again!

As someone who is getting back to being a music hoarder I just wanted to say thank you to all of you

I hope this post is okay with the mods.

I'll try to keep this short. I've been dealing with a TIA, which is essentially a minor stroke, as well as recently being diagnosed with cancer. Thankfully I have both under control. All of this, plus other personal issues, put me in a very... dark is really the only word that comes to mind.

I was thinking of things I could do to take my mind off things. I considered new hobbies, things I've been putting aside. Then I somehow thought about starting my music collection again. I was born in '85 and even as a kid loved music and had a ton of cassettes and CDs that I held on to up until about 15-20 years ago when I lost them all. (Won't get into that as this post will get long as is.)

I also lost all my mp3 from middle school and high school. Mixtapes I can never find again, personal pictures, home videos, you name it I lost it.

So I decided to slowly build my collection up again and promised myself I'd do it right. I tag all my songs down to the composer and credit fields and more and have splurged on hard drives to make sure I hopefully don't lose anything this time around. Something I've always wanted to do. (I'm generally very organized and borderline OCD.)

Honestly, I couldn't have done it if it wasn't by going through a lot of the helpful posts on here. I actually jump on here every morning while I'm having my coffee as I just feel at home.

So yeah, this was a very long way of saying thanks to everyone on here. I'd buy you all a beer if I could.

Movie from the 90s or early 2000s about different stories that coincide at the end with a depressed man who wanted to talk his own life stopping a robbery in a diner

I watched the movie in the early 2000s with my dad and it was the very last movie we watched together and had a lot of sentimental value for me. I’ve tried searching and using various AI models to help me find it to no avail. It’s not Crash from 2004 or Mad City.

All I remember is that there are a number of interconnected storylines and one of them is a man who the entire movies is considering taking his own life. At the very end of the movie he’s in a diner and stops a robber and is told how he’s a hero for what he did.

Sorry for being so vague and thanks in advance.

Episodes with guests

I could just be misremembering, but I can swear besides Sean Clements being a guest on If Looks Could Kill, Doughboys on Demolition Man and Lauren Lapkus being a guest on the Lethal Weapon 2 episode there was another episode where the boyz had a guest. Am I misremembering?

Absolutely brand new to this hobby and IEMs. Just purchased the CrinEar Reference and have some questions about it and DACs

Sorry if general advice isn't the correct tag. I thought since I was asking for purchasing and general questions I'd use the latter. Please let me know if I should change it.

Here's a TL'DR with just my questions. In case you don't read the entire post - and I wouldn't blame you if you don't want to read my long rant - here are the questions I have. Sorry to be asking some very basic questions:

  1. Any general tips for using IEMs besides handling them carefully and avoiding sweat/oil? I'm pretty much bedridden because of my health so I won't be wearing these outside.

  2. With the Silica Gel packs how many are recommended to put in the case and does placement matter?

  3. What DACs should I look at getting that will work well with expensive over the head headphones but also with the Reference that ideally have an easier UI/learning curve for someone new to the hobby.

  4. I will most likely be buying Baroque Stage tips. Wondering if there's anything else I should look at getting as well. This will solely be for the Reference.

And sorry for this long post. Figured it might explain how I got here so you all know how little I know about IEMs and this hobby. A few months ago I didn't even know what flat meant. Most of my life I used Apple's wired headphones that came with phones. Then I moved onto iPod Pros, AirPod Max (sadly were stolen), Sony WF-1000XM5s, Sony WH-1000XM5s, Beoplay EX, and more recently the Focal Bathys. This has been my setup for about two years and with the Focal Bathys I thought I found my endgame, especially with DAC mode.

Unfortunately, I've had a slew of health problems including suffering a minor stroke and being diagnosed with cancer. It messed me up mentally and funny enough music is one of the few things that has helped me...

Question about what to read after finishing The Poet

I just finished The Poet and it was my first Connelly book and I absolutely loved it. I know there is a Jack McEvoy series and also a more direct sequel that is part of the Bosch series called The Narrows. I didn’t know this until just now. I bought the other books in the Jack McEvoy series and had planned to read them, but now I’m wondering if I should go with The Narrows even though I haven’t read a single book in the Bosh series.

Would really appreciate any suggestions!

Wealthsimple Cash Card Dispute and their support has me questioning a lot...

I know this isn't nearly as bad as other experiences from people who have been locked out of their accounts. Just wanted to share my experience and rant. And I actually like Wealthsimple and besides these two issues have zero complaints.

I've only filed a handful of disputes since my first credit card 20 years ago. Maybe 6 in total in 20 years with four being unauthorized charges. They always went smoothly.

Back in 2025 I filed my first dispute with Wealthsimple. I knew the process would be different since I'm disputing a transaction on a debit card and not a credit card or charge card. After filing my dispute I waited and got an email one day saying I didn't file the dispute on time and it was past the time period for filing disputes. I had to go through their complaints process and send screenshots and forward emails showing that I had filed my dispute with about ten days prior to the date when you could no longer dispute charges. They eventually gave me a courtesy credit since I was correct.

Two weeks ago I had an unauthorized charge. I went through the dispute process, filled out the DocuSign and about a week later get an email saying they'll provide me a credit while they investigate. It was a pleasant surprise.

Fast forward to today. I get an email saying: Your Wealthsimple Cash Dispute has been voided for the following reason: Envelope has expired.

I had no idea what this meant so I went to their chat. After twenty minutes of being told to wait while the agent looked into it they told me they would forward my issue to their account integrity team who would send me an email within four working days. I asked if I could speak to someone by phone and just know what this message meant and they said I'd have to call in and someone would help.

So I called. First agent took a solid three minutes to even get the reference number the person in the chat gave me and then put me on hold for ten minutes to look into the issue. They came back and said they would have to transfer me to someone else.

After waiting again on hold I still couldn't get a simple answer as to what this message even meant. The person only said that they would reach out to the appropriate team and give me an update via email.

I won't be leaving Wealthsimple, but I'm starting to think that it's best I no longer use the card for any purchases and pray that I don't have to contact support for any issues in the future as I'll just be wasting my time trying to get a simple answer...

I’m looking to buy a family member a DAP and they love the M21 and the cassette tape. From what I’ve read, and sorry I’m not tech savvy at all and not an audiophile and I also wanted to confirm as ChatGPT said this is possible…

This family member has the Focal Bathys and wants to connect via USB C to use the Focal’s built on DAC but from what I’ve read the USB C port is solely for charging and data transfer. Is that the case or can it also be used to connect to headphones and utilize the Bathy’s internal DAC? Thanks so much!

I was hoping for some advice as I’m beyond desperate. I never edited my musics metadata besides the basic artist, album, track number, etc.

I recently got a Astell&Kern (I beat cancer and wanted to treat myself) as a gift and noticed that there are a slew of metadata tags I could fill in from producers to engineers to composers. I looked around and SongKong looked great. I didn’t want to spend money on it as it’d come out to a large sum of cash where I live. It pulls in all the data I’m looking for and much more which is great but I noticed for some songs it’ll list the composer by their artist name and not real name and the opposite for other fields they appear on. I played around with the scripted but I’m confused on how to activate it prior to running a scan. Not sure if I need the pro feature before I can run the script on preview mode to see how it appears.

Any suggestions or recommendations for other software I should look at that will pull as many fields as possible and is easy - key word easy - to use?

I also don’t mind doing just an album or a song at one time.

Any advice would be great appreciated or even suggestions for resources.

Edit: I also noticed in a fair amount of songs the composer would be a better fit for the lyricist field but they don’t show up there… Instead they get lumped into the composer field.
