What kind of Mobility Aid for my dog?

My dog:

---Mix of several breeds---GSD; Beagle: Staffy; Lab; Chow....

---38 lbs

---6yo

---Not reactive---Calm, sweet, responds well to commands.

History: A rescue with no health problems until now.

Health problem now: An old, healed hip fracture, per 3 Vets at our clinic who looked at her X-rays together.

It suddenly caused her to have a severe limp because back right leg is not working at all anymore.

Vet has her on pain meds and a muscle-building powder (Myos). But hasn''t recommended a mobility aid.

What I want is something to help hold her up on walks, since they're nearly impossible for her because of her back leg.

---She goes for 6-12 feet, then stops for 20-30 seconds, then chooses on her own to start up again. This stop-start goes on for the entire walk.

Interesting that when I say, "Let's go home," she trots nonstop for the car---and fast! Even if it's 200 feet or more away! lol

Vet says she has to keep doing walks. I've looked at mobility aids online, but can't decide what might be the most helpful for her.

Any advice welcome!

Thank you.

Tips to get Dog to take Pills?

How do you get your dog to take pills?

I've tried everything I can think of, but now she's refusing all kinds of food that I used to hide them in. Today, trying to open her mouth and drop them in has resulted in her chomping down on my finger. That has never happened before. I can't afford Pill Pockets like we used with another dog.

I know there are recipes online for DIY Pill Pockets...have any of you used those?

She's refusing even things she used to gobble up: Hot dog pieces; cheese wrapped around it; bread; and more.

There have been a couple times recently where she found the pill in her mouth and spit it out, even though a disguise was wrapped around it. So it may be just that she's on to me now. 😏

Detailing necessary b4 trade-in?

I've received conflicting advice:

  1. Online: Yes---MUST get car detailed (or do it yourself) before submtting it.

  2. The very trustworthy dealer my friend's family has used 4 times said NOT to waste the money.

--- But is he saying that because he would be receiving the trade-in, so would have to give me less for it because it hasn't been detailed?

Thanks in advance.

What's the true story about E-15 gas?

I've seen so much conflicting information that I don't know what to believe.

Will it damage our vehicles? Just certain ages of cars? Should we do what some people are advising and use only Premium gas now?

Sharing this just to help someone/some people, hopefully: Lithium has helped me. I have CPTSD and Passive S.I. My med Management NP put me on

Saying this just to help someone/some people, hopefully:

Lithium has helped me:

I have CPTSD and Passive S.I. My Med Management NP put me on Lithium Orotate for the S.I., but it didn't do anything. Also taking Buproprion (Wellbutrin).

So she put me on Lithium at a low dose--150mg-- and it's taken away the S.I. maybe 50%. When I asked her for an increase in the dose, she's strongly recommended IOP instead. She kept saying, "I want you to get more support!" Several tragedies in my life fairly recently, on top of childhood trauma and other traumas. I start IOP tomorrow.

Interestingly, the IOP therapist said she wants me to talk to the psychiatrist there about increasing the Lithium.

Is it typical to require blood draw to give heartworm preventative Rx?

New-to-us Vet required that today...but former Vet (last year) did not.

How scared to be re: getting it stolen?

I was all set to get a CR-V... until I read that they're on the list of the Top 10 Most Stolen Cars in the U.S. 😳 I'd love to hear anyone's thoughts/experiences.

And is the incidence any different with older models?

Take 2015 CR-V w/101,000 miles?

My very trustworthy dealer has found this for me. Only 1 owner, per Carfax. But the high mileage scares me.

I'm new to the car-buying world, and the whole process is terrifying. Husband did all that, but he's gone now. Texted the dealer rep a few minutes ago to ask what he thinks of mileage this high: haven't heard back yet.

My research has shown that the *2016* CR-V is the one to get...and to avoid both Turbo and CVT engines. Accurate?

Am in no need to hurry on a new-to-me vehicle---my 2012 Odyssey is holding up great!

All advice is greatly appreciated!
