inherited a legacy 6-door access control setup at a site here in the SF Bay Area and trying to decide whether it's worth trying to communicate with the existing board or if I should just get unify retrofit.

Current Setup:

Main Controller: Northern Computers / Honeywell N-1000-IV (4-door board + expansion for 6 doors total).

Power Supply: Altronix / SPS-5 24VDC power supply and fuse distribution board in the lower cabinet with battery backup.

Readers: HID ProxPro (5355 series) 125kHz card reader + keypad combos at all 6 doors.

Network Environment: The site already runs a full UniFi network stack (firewall, wifi & switches). And worse comes to worse we will convert it to Unify access control.

If you're in the Bay Area and have experience taking over these older Honeywell/Northern cans, let me know. Happy to pay for a site visit/consult or help getting this switched over.

Why do you use DoorDash, especially with the cost of everything going up?

I'm Alex Bitter, a reporter with Business Insider.

Recently, I wrote an article about how Tony Xu, the CEO of DoorDash, said he was surprised that people spend as much as they do on food delivery. Tony has some say in how much DoorDash charges, to put it mildly, but I still found the comments interesting.

Often, ordering something through DoorDash, Uber Eats, etc. costs a lot more than if you bought the same thing in person at a restaurant or store, thanks to tips, service fees, and markups. I keep hearing about people trying to save money in other areas of life, but it seems like spending on these delivery services keeps increasing.

So, I'd like to know: Why do you find ordering from DoorDash worth the extra cost? Have you tried to cut back at all? How do you view spending on delivery as opposed to other costs?

If you're up for a chat, email me at abitter@businessinsider.com or reach out via text or Signal at 808-854-4501.

Tenant gave me his broken 2009 rogue, bad transmission

The tenant has a 2009 Nissan rogue with 47k miles, it has a bad transmission. He is shipped off to the army basic training and he gave me his old car to me in lieu of late rent. The car is in really good condition and was sitting in the garage for the past 15 ish years. The car is pretty much worthless I think. But I am thinking of fixing it and the biggest issue is the bad transmission (why it was even parked in the first place).

Should I put in reman transmission or is there any bulletproof kits/transmission for it?

Besides that the car would just need 4 tires, battery, I think new fuel pump and the rear brakes are stuck for some reason.

Estimate for Office Setup: Asterisk + UniFi Phones (Voice, SMS, eFax)

Looking for someone to configure a new PBX setup for ~30 users. Remote is fine; SF Bay Area local is a plus.

Hardware: UniFi Talk IP Desk Phones registered with an Asterisk PBX back end.

Work Needed:

  1. Asterisk / PBX Config: Full setup (FreePBX/VitalPBX), trunking, IVR, extensions, and ring groups for 30 users.
  2. Voicemail-to-Email: Configure SMTP relay to send .wav attachments directly to emails.
  3. SMS Integration: Set up for inbound/outbound SMS routing on DIDs via softphones or web portal
  4. eFax: virtual fax extensions and PDF fax-to-email delivery.

DM or comment with your experience, project estimate/rate, and location (remote is fine). Thanks!

Advice on dog play

We adopted a 7 year old GSD and have a 1 year old lab. Is this a friendly play? Our lab always tries to jump on top of GSD right before.

Seriously, what should be done with Gaza / Palestine in next year, 5, 10, 20 years etc.

Seriously, I always grew up seeing the war going on there for past decades. What is the long term solution?
