Vegan replacement for honey that is similar in its floral nature?

I used to like honey to add to granola and yogurt, because of its delicate, almost floral, sweet flavour. Is there anything that’s similar in that way that isn’t maple syrup or agave? I find that maple syrup is a completely different flavour profile and agave is just sweet. Any ideas? :-)

Crispy satay tofu sando!

Gooey (Manchester, UK) does my favourite vegan sandwich of all time. I am visiting home for a month and it was a MUST to get this sandwich whilst I’m in the country. It’s crispy black pepper tofu, peanut satay sauce, vegan mayo, house pickled cucumber & carrot on turmeric bread. The bread is incredible, definitely worth a try if you’re nearby.

Anyone tried the Clyffe Trek shoes?

I’m looking for an approach style shoe for light/day fair weather hiking and everyday casual use. These look great but I can’t see any reviews anywhere for them, probably because they’re relatively new. Anyone got these or anything similar?

What on earth happened to Coconut Collab’s Choc Pots?

They used to be firm and set like a ganache, they were sooooo good and perfect for an after dinner treat, because they’re so small but you could take a while to eat them. Now they’re like a custard consistency and nowhere near as satisfying? Anyone got any recommendations for chocolately, small treats to enjoy instead that might hit the same?

Favourite fibrous cereal?

I recently moved to Canada from the UK and all the cereals here are so sweet they upset my stomach, with the exception of fiber rich cereals like my favourite- Raisin Bran. I like getting my fiber in with my cereal snacks. What’s your favourite cereal that is also an excellent source of fiber?

How do vegans feel about pet ownership?

Veganism is centred around not only ending animal cruelty and the unnecessary death and commercialism of the lives of our planet’s creatures, but also seems to have the stance that treating animals as commodities is wrong.

Therefore, do any fellow vegans feel strongly against pet ownership? It’s something I’ve always struggled with, as a kid growing up vegetarian I was upset by the idea of eating animals raised for meat, but overjoyed by the idea of owning a pet for my own enjoyment and benefit, having something to raise as your own and love as a part of your family.

The pet industry is messed up, but I’d argue that owning an animal, even a rescue animal, is somewhat flawed. Should we be allowed to encourage the pet trade by contributing to the companies than benefit from us owning pets, like pet food companies, pet toy companies, grooming etc? And is “owning” an animal an inherently immoral concept?

Any thoughts on this?

EDIT- Obviously adoption is the best option for pet ownership. I’m more opening a discussion for the general idea of ownership of an animal as a concept. Just curious what other vegans think of this! I have no solid thoughts as of yet.

Little spoon in Red Alder

There was a knot in the bowl that I had to remove, so there’s a notch in it. I quite like the asymmetrical shape it made!

To sand or not to sand?

Do you guys sand your spoons? Why or why not? I like to keep mine not sanded so that my knife work improves. But my spoons might look nicer if they were smooth… Thoughts?
