Are there any atheists communities in Birmingham?

Hi, I just finished my 1st year at UoB and there is a society for every religion but not a single one for atheists. Is there any way I can meet like minded people around here? I didn't grow up here at all. Thanks!

The state of Selly

To the undergrads who moved out and left piles of rubbish in the streets, you should be ashamed of yourselves

Anyone from Birmingham University fall2026 Intake

Hi everyone! 😊

I'll be joining the University of Birmingham for the Fall 2026 intake. I'm excited and looking to connect with other students before arriving.

Which course are you joining? Where are you coming from? It would be great to make friends, discuss accommodation, and help each other with the move.

Looking forward to meeting you all!

Arriving early

I have booked a room in Jarrat hall (university accommodation). But then I realised it starts on 19th of September, while I have hospital appointments before that. I am an international student so once I arrive to the UK I will be staying for the whole semester. Can I arrive before 19th and still enter my accommodation? If I ask them and give them my hospital appointments will they give me early access to my room?

I have my things in storage in Birmingham so I don’t prefer airbnb or hotel because that will make me move my stuff twice, but if the accommodation won’t let me enter, then I will have to.

International student who just got into MSc Business Analytics at Glasgow! Need advice 👀

Heyyy everyone! I just got accepted into the MSc Business Analytics programme at University of Glasgow and I’m really excited (and a little nervous honestly 😭)

I wanted to ask if there are any alumni or current students here who could share their experience with the course? What are the professors like, how intense is the workload, and what’s the overall university environment/student life like?
Also, I’m a girl and I haven’t really lived on my own before, so I’d really appreciate any advice about accommodation. Which student accommodations are safest/best for postgrads? Is it better to stay university halls first year or rent privately?
Would love any tips about Glasgow in general too, things you wish you knew before moving there, budgeting, weather, making friends, etc.
Thank you so much 💛

Did i make a right decision about my college and career?

my_qualifications

Hi guys i am from Mumbai and i got into NMIMS bba fintech and also bsc money banking and finance in University of Birmingham Dubai

Now i have option to either choose NMIMS or go abroad in dubai and btw i got 40% scholarship which will be around 60 lac for 3 years tution fee whereas for nmims it will be around 20 lac..

The main guidance i need that if it's worth for me to go to university of Birmingham dubai after taking loan or not.... Is the ROI good there?

By the way, my main goal is to gather some work experience from top companies and then after 2-3 years past my graduation, go for masters from top universities abroad....

Please help me with this situation..

uob accom for med students

Looking at Accom for Birmingham and have no idea what to choose. I want to be close to the med school but also in a social place, i don’t mind if im a 20 min walk away from shops and stuff. Budget wise i wouldnt really want to go over 210 a week? Also does uob have the option to choose female only places. I would really appreciate if a current student could also give some advice xx

i’m thinking about jarrett hall or prichatts but not sure, also what’s the difference between prichatts house and prichatts road townhouses?

Doubt regarding exam results!!

I got my results today. I got 68.5% average in my first year as a Comp Sci student(fucking tanked TOC soo bad,I got 46🙂). I’m progressing to my second year now. I’m a bit disappointed and worried about my grade. I’m an international student, will not achieving a first class grade reduce my chances for a summer internship after my second year cuz I heard that only first year grades will be available by the time I apply for internships.

Maintaining international relationships, please help!!!

I'm attending UofB in September as an international student. I'm genuinely worried about adequately maintaining my relationship with my partner back home while I'm studying. Obviously there's no perfect way to go about it, but does anybody have any recommendations on making sure we at least don't completely crash and burn while I'm overseas? I was going to have him visit no more than once during the summer for a few days, but I'm also worried about annoying my possible roommates with him being there.

Need some advice

I have finished my a levels as of last week, and am a little worried about one of my subjects. I want to do accounting and finance at UoB which has grade requirements of AAA. I have a feeling that i might get either ABC or AAC for Accounting, Econ and Maths (maths is the C). in both cases would it be still possible to get accepted seeing that i have also firmed the uni on ucas. furthermore would it be worth still contacting about the uni about extenuating circumstances because i had issues with 2 of my pets having to been surrendered during the exam season but due to the lack of hard evidence would it still be worth bringing up with the uni? Many thanks for any help yall can provide.
