We’re making a courtroom simulator called GUILTY OR NOT that gives you totally unhinged freedom to handle cases however you want. Our Steam page is now live and we want to share the hype by giving away 2x $100 Steam Gift Cards!

We're a small indie team currently working on Guilty or Not, which I would describe as a wacky “total freedom” courtroom simulator where you investigate crimes, question suspects, hand down verdicts… but also point your gun at defendants or hit them with your gavel if they ain't cooperating!

GUILTY... OR NOT - What Our Game is About

When we first started talking about making a detective game, we quickly realized that none of us were particularly interested in building a serious simulation of the legal system. We love courtroom dramas and murder mysteries, of course, but we also kept coming back to all the things those stories normally don’t let the main character do.

What if the detective was also the judge, and what if you could decide for yourself what counts as convincing evidence? What if a witness tried to bribe you, the defendant threatened your life in the middle of the trial, or you could bonk someone with your judge’s hammer because they were getting on your nerves?

These are all unrealistic scenarios, but making something sensible was never really our main goal. We want the player to be able to decide the best way to solve a given situation, and from the most unorthodox angles imaginable.

In other words, we want Guilty or Not to be a FUN game, first and foremost - something that our players will enjoy messing around in - and build the sort of courtroom sim where every case can become a bizarre story that nobody was counting on!

The Steam page is live + The Giveaway!

Our Steam page went up not a week ago and we’re delighted to finally share this 100% bizarre interpretation of the justice system with everyone who might be interested in this sort of weird courtroom simulation!

You can find GUILTY OR NOT and wishlist it here:
https://store.steampowered.com/app/4557160/Guilty_or_Not/

Furthermore, to celebrate this big step in development, we want to give away two $100 Steam Gift Cards!

There are no strict rules for participating. Just leave a comment below and tell us if you find the idea behind the game interesting - and what you think would improve it! … OR TELL US WHAT KIND OF JUDGE YOU’D BE? :)

A lot of the specifics are still in the air, but we’re absolutely unhinged in our commitment to making the game an immersive and memorable experience (and a darkly funny one too) - at minimum once the demo is out! So we’re building one step at a time.

Our biggest priority is making sure the freedom isn’t only there as a gimmick, but that the game genuinely reacts to your decisions and gives you enough room to create your own ridiculous courtroom stories!

In the meanwhile, you can share in our hype by taking part in this Giveaway.

THE GIVEAWAY WILL LAST THROUGH THE UPCOMING WEEKEND AND THE WINNERS WILL BE CHOSEN ON MONDAY (TO MAKE A SAD DAY HAPPIER!)

Good luck!

Working on a courtroom sim where you are the detective, the forensic scientist, the judge, and the executioner

Some would say this gives players a concerning amount of freedom to abuse the law.

I like to think it's just the right amount of freedom to make the court proceedings fun!

However, this also means more freedom for all involved, including the defendants, than would be imaginable in any real courtroom... so don't feel to bad about randomly pulling a piece on someone.

Making a total-freedom courtroom simulator where justice is optional - and abusing your authority is not only permitted... but encouraged

The idea we started out with is very simple: you're the detective, the judge, and the interrogator in a first-person courtroom and detective simulator, and the game gives complete (and completely abusable) authority to investigate and decide cases however you see fit.

You do everything by yourself, including the forensics of pulling evidence off bodies and locked phones, questioning suspects and witnesses, and the sweetest part of all, handing down whatever verdict you want! You decide who is Guilty... or Not!

But if you choose, you can also shoot people if they look at you funny or if they’re acting overly suspicious. You can also bonk them with your hammer to put some pressure on them, or threaten them!

Think of the proceedings here as being one big weird cosplay session of Judge Dredd, because this is not a realistic justice system… but a fun one! (and you can act with total impunity by design)

Don't feel too bad though! The people you'll be sentencing aren’t meek defendants. They will try to scare you off a case or buy a not-guilty verdict, and the courtroom can turn violent when you're least expecting it. And the chances of getting shot or stabbed are NEVER zero.

Embrace the chaotic vigilante in you and bring the court to law, YOUR LAW!

Our Steam page is now up and we're super stoked to share the game with everyone!

Made an arcade style roguelite (that requires minimal strategy and even less attention) where you're a single soldier defending a checkpoint against armored trains coming to destroy you

I created Blitzkrieg Express to be a game that’s quick to pick up and easy to enjoy, the kind of game you can jump into immediately. You play as a small lone defender manning a big gun and trying to destroy an armored train as it relentlessly advances toward you.

Keep in mind, target priority and chain reactions matter; some wagons explode, some become temporarily invulnerable and wagons with ice can set up big explosion combos that clear multiple wagons at once!

Plus, the more you wipe out, the more experience you gain. The meta-progression is also simple - leveling up gets you upgrades that impact your tactics. Some make bullets ricochet for AoE damage, others let them pierce through multiple targets, and others still increase fire rate or add extra firing directions- even behind you (which helps when the train starts surrounding you)

As for permanent upgrades and itemization, wagons will occasionally drop gold and items. Equipped items can unlock upgrades such as increased attack speed, damage, critical chance, and more. Gold can then be used to merge two lower-level items into a stronger, higher-tier one, helping you build more powerful setups!

Proud to finally show off the PC version of my game :) Let me know what you think, comments and questions are welcome!

I made an arcade style strategy game called Blitzkrieg Express where you're a lone soldier defending a checkpoint against armored trains coming to obliterate you

Blitzkrieg Express was built on a single premise - I wanted to create an extremely simple arcade strategy/ tower-defense like game that’s light, easy to jump into, and just have fun playing, without worrying about micromanagement. You are a defender sitting in a cannon, and your only job is to destroy the train before it destroys you.

In order to achieve this, though, there are a few important things to consider

  • Target priority matters - Some wagons explode and destroy everything around them, some are drenched in ice and freeze the entire train for a short duration, and then some have shields that, every now and then, make them indestructible. Planning around this is crucial in defeating the train, especially on higher levels.
  • Chain reactions - Destroying an ice wagon to freeze the entire train to have just enough time to destroy an explosion wagon and eliminate several wagons at once can mean the difference between surviving and getting run over. Pay attention to these.

Now, the more wagons you destroy, the more experience you get, and with more experience, you’ll level up faster. Obvious, right?

But levels bring upgrades that shape the entire gameplay. Some will add ricocheting to your bullets, meaning that now you’ll essentially deal AoE damage with every shot. Some will make your bullets penetrate through the wagons and obstacles, meaning that you’ll be able to hit multiple targets at once. And some will just make your rate of fire faster, or add more bullets to more directions - even behind you! This is especially useful if the train path happens to encircle your position.

When it comes to permanent upgrades and itemizations, it’s quite streamlined and easy to understand. Wagons will occasionally drop items and gold - both useful resources for becoming stronger. These items can be equipped for their stats and their special effects; and gold can be used both for merging these items - in case you have multiple low level ones - or unlocking permanent upgrades that add attack speed, damage, crit, and more.

If you have any questions or have anything you’d like to say about Blitzkrieg Express - please feel free to leave a comment! I'll be happy to answer :)

You're a single gunman defending a pass against armored trains coming to destroy you. It's kind of like Zuma but WW2

I created Blitzkrieg Express to be a game that’s quick to pick up and easy to enjoy, the kind of game you can jump into immediately with zero brain energy.

I made an arcade shooter that mixes elements of Tower Defense games and Zuma - where you defend against a cavalcade of armored trains coming to annihilate you!
