Today the dean of CSE came to our class to inform us about their orientation and said that we can only choose one, so what would you suggest going with?
I know learning never stops, and mastering a single language can take decades. I’m not expecting to master anything quickly. That would be a disservice to the language.
However, I’m a CSE undergrad in my 3rd semester (out of 8). Time is flying, and I can’t spend all of it on one language. I have a ton of other things to learn too. But I do want to reach a point where I can:
•Start building real projects
•Compete in hackathons
•Follow along with technical seminars and talks
•Operate at the level of a junior dev / competent student
People often tell me to “just learn Python,” but I genuinely dislike it. It feels bloated and surface-level to me, and I strongly prefer compiled languages over interpreted ones.
C++ also aligns much better with my goals and interests, them being:
•Game development – I want to be a game developer, but I don’t want to be tied to any specific engine. Some might call it “reinventing the wheel,” but I’m a CS engineer, not just a tool user. I’m interested in building games using custom engines, or without using an engine at all, not just using pre-made ones. C++ is clearly the best fit for that.
•OS-level / low-level programming – I love tinkering at the firmware and OS level: jailbreaking, hacking devices, bypassing OS restrictions, modifying and customizing systems to unlock more utility or squeeze more out of the hardware. I always follow established methods and guides though, never doing anything on my own, and I want to change that.
•Porting games – A mix of the above kinda, but taking games from one platform to another (e.g., Android/PC games to PS Vita) is something I find incredibly interesting.
What’s the fastest practical path to get to a “ready to use” stage with C++ for these kinds of projects?

I know that overclocking on a PC or Android could reduce its life, or at least the battery life, but I see many people recommend overclocking the vita without a second thought.
Is overclocking the vita not as risky as overclocking a PC or android?

On one of my older accounts, I was part of a subreddit I was invited to, where users used to make posts on random internet rabbit holes and subcultures, a full on critical analysis on a media or a fanbase or really anything internet, full on essay documentary style. It was slightly more skewed towards the Otaku subcultures, but I don't think it was exclusive to just otaku subcultures.
My old account has unfortunately been banned for long enough that I can't even check the subreddits I was part of on it.
If someone could somehow find it or knows the subreddit I'm talking about, I would really appreciate it if you could let me know.

I have a Vita, and I bought it mainly to play visual novels, however the apparent library actually accessible in English seems to be limited to mainstream VNs like steins gate.

If someone has a list or recommendation of moeges playable on the vita in english, I'd appreciate it a bunch! It doesn't need to be native english support, it could be through patches as well. I know the vita has a great library of moeges, it's just that most of them are locked behind Japanese.
So looking on Amazon, I find two listings for screen protectors, one for just the front screen, and then one with both the front and back included. However there's like a 20$ difference between the two.
So is the back screen protector actually worth it? Or do I instead just get the front screen protector along with a case and/or a clear shell for the vita? I heard that clear shells cause scratches though.
It would be nice to be able to launch my roms and vns directly from the home screen instead of first having to open the emulator, just reduces a bit of friction. I know options exist for RetroArch and DaedalusX64 but was wondering if there was anything for VNDS Clone games and the DSVita roms.
I was considering getting rid of my one x and upgrading to a series s for the better emulation scene but apparently a ps5 can now run linux (albeit on really old firmwares =<6.xx), so was considering getting that instead.
I recently got the PlayStation Vita for like 6k, the Vita 1000, and I really loved it. Jailbroke it instantly and booted it up with a bunch of vns, emulators and ports, and 90% of the last week went on me tinkering with it. So yea I don't mind switching over from microslop to sony either.
I want to play VNs like kanon and tsukihime on my vita, and I learnt that VNDS is the way, but the original GitHub by MyLegGuy is dead.
I heard that it's the same thing as the Higurashi Vita found in VitaDB, but that asks for PC files of Higurashi which I don't have.
I also remember a list of a bunch of ready to go VNDS VNs that you could use with VNDS on your vita, but all those links seem to be dead too.
Also, is there any way to get the unrated version of Grisaia on the Vita with the English patch? And what about an English patch for KoiChoco?
Hi, I jailbroke a paperwhite 1 so it has KOReader in it. Its been a while since I jailbroke the thing, but I don't remember doing any OTA Blockers or anything during the process. I thought I didn't need to since the kindle was already EoL.
But now I see Linus's video on my feed, and he mentioned that all old kindles will be turned to bricks starting this 20th of May. So was wondering if my kindle is in danger as well, and if I can do anything to prevent it from becoming e-waste.
