MicroProse Soccer (1988) – The top-down classic that paved the way for Sensible Soccer!

Hey fellow retro gamers!

Before Sensible Soccer and FIFA dominated the scene, Sensible Software’s Jon Hare and Chris Yates changed sports gaming forever with MicroProse Soccer in 1988.

Whether you played it on the Commodore 64 rocking David Whittaker's classic SID tunes or on the Amiga, this game set the benchmark for top-down football. It gave us the iconic "banana shot" aftertouch, muddy pitches with wild slide-tackles, and that lightning-fast indoor 6-a-side mode.
