Does anyone go to TAMUCC?

I know I have posted before, and I know this is really out there but I’m just being so open because I want to be honest. I’ve been in so so so many positions where I have been ghosted and shoved aside because of my disability, and I am really just trying to find a genuine honest friend who is excited to help me get out to just… Be friends and have fun, and who does not see being friends with me as burdensome.

I am currently in college, and I am Visually impaired. The whole time I have been up here I have struggled meeting new people, even from day one back in 2022. Honestly it has been this way all throughout elementary and high school too. I’m looking for a friend around my age, 22 give or take, who is like minded. I’m trying to find a friend who would not see my disability and run away, judge, or see it as a burden or treat it like an after thought . I’m just trying to find friends who are willing to hang out even when knowing that they are probably going to have to put in a bit more effort then they would with a normal person, someone who is excited to be my friend and who would not goast or leave because of my disabilty..

Im just trying to come out and be open because I have been goasted over and over, passed from person to person ALL my life, and the worst my vision gets the more people have just shown me I’m nothing but a burden to be around. All I have wanted my WHOLE life is a genuine friend who can show empathy, kindness, and understanding, where I can let my guard down and relax because I know that they are not just saying that we are friends, but we REALLY ARE friends, and I don’t have to constantly worry that they will ghost me, Where I know that even though I can’t see what they’re doing very well, I can trust that they want to be there, and that they will do the right thing.

As far as my interest, I am open to all kinds of activities. The main thing is it all comes back to me having a friend that genuinely wants to be there and who doesn’t see the extra effort of actively including me as dreadful, but rather a friend that is thoughtful, excited that we are friends, excited to help me have those opportunities that sighted people take for granted. If you can imagine it takes a lot of courage and trust to be placed in the other person when you can hardly even see them, let alone what is going on around you. I would love to know what is happening, I would love to have a friend where I am not embarrassed to ask where they are, or what something looks like, or what is happening around us. It is just hard to find a real friend who is understanding of why I might be quiet or hesitant in a world where good vision is the default. It really hurts to always be forgotten about in groups because everyone can see what others are doing, what that thing is across the room, that funny thing on someone’s phone, and I am just there, not knowing what is going on, left to sit off to myself wondering why I am even there. or the sighted person you are with, and who you are more or less counting on to help you have fun, can and does effortlessly leave you behind to go be with sighted people.

There are so many things I have missed out on because I haven’t really had anyone allow me the opportunity. Even small things that lots of sighted people take for granted every single day I find fascinating, because it’s hard to find someone who slows down and takes the time to let me experience or know about what others can easily see from across the room, while also not treating me like a child, or helping in a way that makes me feel belittled. I absolutely love dogs, I have always wanted to to take a dog out from an analem shelter for a day, cook and bake new things, go to the beach, go out to eat, get out and have fun with someone my age just like everyone else can and does. I am meaning without my parents, I want freedom just like everyone else has. My whole life I have wanted to hang out with a peer my own age. It is just tricky for others to understand, and even when they know, who still want to be there, and find joy in keeping me included on what is going on so I can have fun ALONGSIDE them, where I am seen as equal to them.

Anyways sorry for the long post. If there is anyone around 22 give or take who would like to connect, please feel free to send me a DM

For those of you with Denon AVRs which mode do you use?

I’m just curious do y’all put your AVR in multi channel stereo or in Dolby PLll Movir?

I have the Denon AVR, and normally I always keep it in multi channel stereo, and I know that this is not true surround sound, but I really enjoy the vocals coming out of all of the speakers. When I put it in Dolby PLll Movie, this does give me actual surround sound but the vocals only come out of the center speaker, which doesn’t sound as full as using multi channel stereo.

Question

If you play audio from your Apple TV and AirPlay to the HomePod, if you hit pause will they drop off and get deselect selected? Or will they stay connected indefinitely in the AirPlay menu?

WiiM Mini Airplay testing

For those that have the WiiM Mini. Can you please test this for me?

On your Apple TV can you AirPlay to the device, watch a show for a little bit then pause the audio on the Apple TV and leave it there for about an hour? I’m curious if the AirPlay connection will drop off or stay connected indefinitely. What if you put your Apple TV to sleep and leave it overnight

The reason I’m asking is because I do have the DENON H150, and this speaker seems to drop the AirPlay connection even when the Apple TV remains awake, but with the audio just paused after sometime. It’s the only speaker on my network that does that. And I’m curious if the WiiM Mini stay stays connected. I have a WiiM Amp and it does stay connected to AirPlay indefinitely, and this is the behavior I want.

Issue with Denon Home150

I wanted to make one more post about this issue with my DENON H150 and AirPlay.

When I select the speaker on my Apple TV to stream audio to it, if I pause the audio it will time out after an unknown amount of time. This is really hard to gauge. But still at times out. My AVR receiver along with other devices do not timeout, and will permanently stay selected as AirPlay speakers. I have tried using the H150 over Wi-Fi and ethernet and get the same result every single time.

For any of y’all that have this speaker, does it happen for you?

My second question, I am almost tempted to get the WiiM Airplay streamer, in hopes that that will not time out. However it does seem a little ridiculous just because the H150 already has AirPlay built-in.

H150 AirPlay

Does anyone notice that their DENON H150 speaker times out when selected as an AirPlay speaker, when audio is paused for an extended amount of time?

Is there a way to disable this? I have selected it as the audio output within the Apple TV audio output settings, and it is the only speaker on my network that will continuously time out

Use parsec without a monitor

I am trying to use parsec to remote into a computer that does not have a monitor attached. I am using the free version of parsec, and I have tried doing what Support said which was plugged in an HDMI cable leading to nothing. This did not work. I also bought an HDMI dummy display plug and this appears to not be working either.

How can I use Pirce without a monitor attached to the remote computer?

Apple TV permanent AirPlay?

For the longest time I have wanted to permanently airplay to a couple of speakers around my house, and I have been achieving this by manually selecting the speakers every single time from control center. They do disconnect after a certain amount of time, which I found very annoying

Since then in the Apple TV settings I found that you can set the audio output to be AirPlay and permanently select the device. I am still testing but it seems as though the device is still disconnect. Has anyone used this feature before?

I also had a question, if you permanently select AirPlay speakers, then someone connects to one of those speakers with their iPhone, once they disconnect how long until the Apple TV grabs it again?

I just tested this and I mind blown at this actually works

Guys did you know you could hook up a ubiquity camera to your travel router like theGL INet, then with Tailscale you can adopt a camera and it will record back to your UDM at home?

Ethernet

If I have an ethernet jack in the wall, but I want to mount a camera closer up to the ceiling, what would be the best way about keeping that ethernet jack usable but also bringing ethernet up to the ceiling where you need it.

Assuming that you cannot run another wire, and you just want to piggyback off of that ethernet jack

Nonreplaceable battery

I bought my EcoFlow Delta pro three about a year ago, and it keeps bugging me that the battery is not replaceable and this unit costs $2000+. I feel like this is going to be something that is going to really sting when it comes time to having to throw the unit away instead of just replacing the battery

I am needing to purchase another battery backup. Should I go with EcoFlow again or a different brand that has a replaceable battery? The reason I went with EcoFlow is just because of how long the runtime was. I guess this is considered a “generator“, and not a UPS. Traditional UPS is only last 30 minutes. With my EcoFlow I can have it last longer than a day

Anyways. Is the fact that the battery is not replaceable a huge deal? I know batteries degrade overtime and eventually do need to be replaced. In fact I just had to replace a battery in one of my older UPS

Why does EcoFlow BLE not work?

I’ve made a post on this before and I have no idea how to get this working. I have an EcoFlow delta pro three that I would love to get integrated into Home Assistant. However the cloud integration and the BLE integration do not work. The only integration I can get to work is the API in HACS. This of course relies on Internet connectivity. And I figure the BLE integration would be so much more reliable

When I go to add the BLE integration, my EcoFlow device is found, and I get to the screen where I enter my email and password, leaving the user ID Feald blank as the documentation says, then when the integration tries to add it says set up is failed and there are zero logs. When I checked the logs they are just completely empty

I have been trying at this for months and months and like I said the only integration I can get to work is the API. This takes time to update though and I cannot have a reliable power outage script ran using this integration

EDIT: GOOD NEWS. I got this working. I rolled the BLE back to V0.5..9 and it worked right away. I already tried rolling back a while ago, and cannot remember if I tried that far back, but anyways I am SO GLAD this works... for now...☺

Alarmo follows real Alarm System?

I use my Ring Alarm System as my main system, but in Home Assistant I have added the Alarmo integration that way it requires you to enter a code, and therefore I know who disarmed the system through Home Assistant that way.

I have set up numerous automations to try to get that Alarmo car to follow the actual Ring Alarm System, but I keep on running into instances where it’s just boggling my mind, or things that I don’t think about.

Is there a way to have the Alarmo card follow exactly what the actual ring alarm is doing? Or is there another integration that can do this that also gives you a keypad on the actual card itself?

Basically I’m using alarm Alarmo simply for the card itself. Absolutely no other features. I’m just using it for the card, and my ring alarm is the actual alarm and security aspect

Issue with automations running every time my modem reboot, how can I only have them run when they legitimately need to?

Every morning at 4 AM I have my T-Mobile 5G Home Internet Gateway restart that way you can get the best connection possible back to the towers. The issue I am having is that every time the gateway starts a couple of integrations that need Internet, such as the EcoFlow and Ring MQTT integration send me notifications based on certain automations.

For example I have an automation that says if my ring Alarm System is disarmed, to send me a notification. Every single time I restart the T-Mobile gateway, the notification gets sent to my phone that the system was disarmed.

How can I make it so when the gateway starts I don’t get automations running, but also I want to keep it so if the status legitimately does change, then the automation will run?

Does that make sense? Another example is I have an automation that says if my EcoFlow battery is plugged in, run a power resto automation. When I restart the Internet gateway the automation runs because Home Assistant thinks that power has been restored to the battery. What I would like to do is stop all of this from running when the Internet gateway is rebooted, but I want to run the automation if during that time of rebooting, the legitimate state actually does change

Location Update Help?

I have added my iPad to HA. How can I have it show up in my devices map?

Also. As for locaton updates. they only seem to update whenever they want to. sometimes it will, other times it will not. for example, I hvae been home now for 30 minutes and there has been no update. I have already checked and location access is granted and full access has been given. Everything is up to date as well.

I found was able to add it in code but how do I add my iPad within the GUI to the device Map.

Hi everyone, I am just reposting this because I’m trying to bring more attention to it.

Trying to find others who are looking for a friend

I’m a senior in college. I am Visually impaired and have been struggling meeting new people since day one here back in 2022. I’m looking for friends around my age, 23 give or take, and who are like minded. And people who would not just want to be friends on social media, but in person too. I’m trying to find a friend who would not see my disability and run away or judge, and who would not see it as a burden. I’m just trying to find friends who are willing to hang out even when knowing that they are probably going to have to help me out and put in a bit more effort then they would with a normal person. I honestly need a friend who is willing to help me get out and be actively included, and be a part of society again, and help me have fun, and who would see me as an equal person despite the challenges that my disability might create.

TAMUCC is on an island, and I quite literally never get out because I can’t get out on my own. and the worst my vision gets the more people have shown me I’m seen as a burden to be around. I really i’m looking for a genuine friend who can show empathy and kindness and understanding. On multiple instances I have gone six months without leaving this campus and I just want to be seen as an equal person instead of just making things awkward with my Disability. Sorry for the mini rant lol.

As far as my interest, most things are difficult for me to enjoy without help because of my vision loss but I am open to all kinds of activities. The main thing is it all comes back to having a friend that genuinely wants to be there and who doesn’t see the effort of making sure I am actively included as dreadful, but rather someone who is excited that we are friends, excited to help me have those opportunities that sighted people take for granted. If you can imagine it’s hard to have fun when you can’t really see what’s going on around you,

I would prefer if they went to TAMUCC as well, this isn’t a necessity though. The main thing like I said is I’m looking for a friend who is outgoing and excited that we are friends, well also being accommodating kind and understanding of the challenges.

I absolutely love dogs, and I grew up with a border collie. I am from Houston, but right now I’m up here in Corpus Christi for college. I’m just trying to find a friend around my age who is looking for a friend as well. Please DM me if you are interested in connecting.
