Device switch a bit too expensive for my needs

I was about to get the device bridge switch until I saw the price tag of $300. Then I thought, wouldn’t it be cheaper to simply get the flex switch for $99 and a device bridge for $99? Sure I wouldn’t have the POE capability I need is to power a camera and a floodlight

If this won’t work, does anyone else have a better solution?

JBL BB3

My JBL Boombox 3 WiFi works great for AirPlay, however if I pause my Apple TV it will time out and disconnect from AirPlay. I know this is not an Apple TV issue because I have other speakers that it continuously stays connected even when I put the Apple TV to sleep and come back to it a couple hours later. Does anyone know how to resolve this with JBL?

Video timeout

I am playing audio on my Apple TV that is plugged into my receiver via HDMI. In order to connect to all of my other AirPlay speakers and simultaneously controlled the volume with the Apple TV remote of all of the speakers including the receiver, it appears that I have to AirPlay to the receiver itself even though it is still plugged in with HDMI.

When I do this the input switches to HEOS music. I did change the video select to be the Apple TV HDMI input. It appears to be working OK except for the fact that the video will time out and the screen will go black on my receiver. Does anyone know how to change this setting

Speaker help?

I am looking for a speaker that is not necessarily a smart speaker, but that does have Aux input, as well USB port if possible, and that sounds decent and quality

Cheap speaker for the bathroom to play TV audio from receiver?

Right now I have a Denon receiver, and I tapped into the Center channel to put a wireless auxiliary cable transmitter to another speaker. As a result literally whatever is playing on my receiver plays on that other speaker in the kitchen, and even is controlled by the receivers volume.

I would like to do the same thing for the bathroom, except I don’t need or want to spend $100 for a quality speaker like I did for the kitchen. I was thinking of getting some sort of cheap wireless speaker and just AirPlay to it, but I would like to use the same auxiliary trick I used for the kitchen if this is doable. However it is in the bathroom and so I would like it to be small and discreet,

So my question, what is the cheapest speaker for this use case?

AirPlay entity?

I recently just purchased the Grandstream GAC3516 speaker, and based on everything I have looked up it does not integrate with Home Assistant. It does have AirPlay though, so is there a way to bring that AirPlay entity into Home Assistant so I can then play media and control the volume from the Home Assistant dashboard?

What I am actually trying to set up is a continuous stream of music, and when that stream gets interrupted via multicast paging, when the paging ends the music will resume. Just like how they would do this at Walmart for example or other businesses.

So my first question, can I bring that AirPlay entity into Home Assistant?

My second question which is not related to Home Assistant, but if anyone knows please pitch in, how do businesses typically stream radio or other Services across their IP speakers? Is this typically done via multicast packaging priority?

Radio streaming?

I have a Grandstream PBX, and I’m curious, I have set up paging, but how do businesses like Walmart for example, play or stream music? Do they do this through multicast paging with a lower priority, and higher priority being the actual employee intercom?

I set up ffmpeg and was successfully able to stream music to a multicast IP address onto the device, however is this how actual businesses do it? Or how do they go about doing this where the music continuously plays and if they need to intercom they can do so, and when it ends it just picks up with the music? I accomplished this successfully with multicast but I’m just curious how do they actually do it correctly, or is this how it’s done?

Multicast paging?

I just figured out how to stream audio from my computer to a multicast IP address through FFMPEG, and this is really cool, however is this how they play music on speakers throughout commercial buildings?

So far I can continuously play music from my computer, then whenever I Paige that takes priority, and when I hang up it resumes the previous multicast address

The issue though first of all, is that how traditional businesses do that? And second, the audio is really good for what it is but it also sounds like you’re on a phone call at the same time during certain parts of music or et

Trying to find nice genuine empathetic friends

I’m a senior in college. I am Visually impaired and have been struggling meeting new people since day one here back in 2022. I’m looking for friends around my age, 23 give or take, and who are like minded. And people who would not just want to be friends on social media, but in person too. I’m trying to find a friend who would not see my disability and run away or judge, and who would not see it as a burden. I’m just trying to find friends who are willing to hang out even when knowing that they are probably going to have to help me out and put in a bit more effort then they would with a normal person. I honestly need a friend who is willing to help me get out and be actively included, and be a part of society again, and help me have fun, and who would see me as an equal person despite the challenges that my disability might create. I really need a friend who genuinely wants to be there, and even knowing all of the challenges, who still wants to help out and still wants to get me out.

I apologize because I know this is an “out there post”, but if anyone would like to connect please send me a DM. I know there are college students still up here, and it’s just really hard to find nice people who genuinely wouldn’t mind being there. A lot of people see that others have a disability and automatically act different or judge. I really just need a nice friend who can have empathy.

If I’m being honest it’s putting me in quite a depressed stage. TAMUCC is on an island, and I quite literally never get out because I can’t get out on my own. I feel like I don’t know how to have fun anymore, and the worst my vision gets the more people have just shown me I’m nothing but a burden to be around. I really just need a genuine friend who can show empathy and kindness and understanding. On multiple instances I have gone six months without leaving this campus and I just want to be seen as an equal person instead of just making things awkward with my Disability. Sorry everyone, I just really need a friend right now

Is anyone looking for others to connect with?

Hey. I have had some luck in previous semesters, and wanted to try my luck again. 😀

I’m a senior in college. I am Visually impaired and trying to meet others similar in age, and with my same situation and like minded. I’m looking for a friend who genuinely wouldn’t mind being there, and who wouldn’t see the Disability as an inconvenience, or too much work/embarrassing to be around. , I’m just looking for a friend who can look past the disability and see me as a person regardless of challenges that come up.

I’m also up here for summer and I’m really trying to find a friend who genuinely wants to be there and who wouldn’t mind helping out, a friend who can understand that there are limitations, but even when knowing this they still are willing to go that little bit extra so I am actively included and can enjoy being g out.

EcoFlow DeltaPro3

When I am using the EcoFlow BLE integration, it does discover my EcoFlow delta pro three, however when I enter my email and password for the credentials, the user ID is not generated, and therefore the configuration fails to set up. Does anyone know how to get this working?

USB Devices

Is there a way to save the USB device configuration? Every time the physical host machine starts I have to go back in and reassign the USB devices to each machine

RADIUS

If I wanted to set up Radius, do I have to manually re-authenticate each device?

Right now every single device that is currently connected, I would like to quickly assign it to its respective vLAN, and only have to actually authenticate new devices that are plugged in.

Is there a way to go about doing this or what I have to configure each client?

You personally, how would you set this up? Based on MAC or what? We have UniFi cameras, access points, Grandstream phones, various IOT devices, printers and personal device devices

I take it that I can assign the profile to the main switches, but we also have flex and ultra switches plugged into the main switch, can the poor profiles be assigned to those as well if they are plugged in to the correct switch?

Can the EcoFlow Delta Pro 3 be integrated into the Home Assistant integration?

I have looked at the documentation and entered what I think is the correct information and it will not add into Home Assistant.

IoT Help?

am creating an IoT Network and want to make sure I am doing this correct correctly, or if y’all have any recommendations please do let me know.

I have started out from everything being on the main network, and I do have Home Assistant running. I started a long time ago by moving all of the Tuya And other smart device devices onto the IoT Network, and I started running into issues when I wanted to integrate the local Tuya Integration.

Because of this I figured I should just move my Home Assistant instance onto the IoT Network. So that is exactly what I did. I made a firewall rule allow allowing access to my NAS Two Home Assistant, but now I am stuck in the dilemma of do I put my Apple TV in my printer on the main network or IoT?

What would you do in my situation? Do I have this set up correctly? As of now the only firewall rules I have in place is to block IoT From Maine, while only allowing Home Assistant full access And return traffic to the main network.

What would you do for network speakers like Denon receivers, Denon speakers, WiiM amplifier and the Apple TV?

EDIT: I did initially make a firewall rule to allow my main network to see Home Assistant, and I checked the box that said allow return traffic, and this did not allow Home Assistant to see other devices on my main network. It was only able to be allowed once I made a rule that specifically allow Home Assistant to see my main network. Why was this the case? I shouldn’t have checking that box allowed to return traffic?

Could use some help

Is there a nice person out there on the sub Reddit that would take the time to DM and help me with a couple of configuration issues?

I have a disability that makes editing the actual configuration file very very difficult. When I do post on here people tell me to use AI, but then when I admit to using AI people tell me that I should talk to an actual human, at the same time when I do post on here my comments get downloaded. Not being mean but just telling the truth.

I would greatly greatly appreciate if a nice person would take the time to help me out with this. I've been using this automation for about a year and it just randomly stopped working. And I have tried talking to Claude and the automation still will not run

If you take a look at the very last post that I made this is one of the things I would like help with. Through talking to AI I was able to successfully restart Home Assistant, but still unable to run the automation

If anyone does reach out there are only two or three things I would like help with, and I know they are super easy, it’s just my Disability makes it very difficult for me to grasp

Again thanks in advance if anyone does reach out, and sorry to be a burden, my disability is making this very frustrating, and others on here seem to just shove me off to use AI, or "Just read the logs". but I have already tired taht for SO LONG. :)

Can Home Assistant HHS into devices? If so, How?

How can I make an automation action be to SSH into my NAS And run the shutdown command? I also want a condition to be to ping the device and if they request times out, meaning that the device is off-line, then the action will continue to run
