This thing is a beast. It weights just over 15lbs ๐ Originally got a stump in a trade and it put out this pup and for 3 years, I thought all other areoles were dead. Good news ๐ซก 4 basal pups have emerged ๐ฎโ๐จ To give them space & to stop the pup from shriveling more I've chopped it off and am looking for someone with a big garden or lots of land who wants to grow a big fat stand ๐๐ฝ๐๐ฝ๐๐ฝ or use for graft stock or [redacted]. If no one wants it, it'll go in the ground ๐ cut end has been slathered in CRP. It'll probably flower in a year or so. The mother stand, from what I heard, was around 60 years old and flowered regularly. Came with no name so I've dubbed it "Fat Boy" because it is.
Will make a custom double-layered box to protect this tricho-torpedo as best as possible. Will come with free TPM crossed seeds (Thelogonus x TPM, ARBVRG x TPM)

Never had a problem with bees finding flower in my shaded areas til now, perhaps the cereus flower was more potent than I originally thought.
Should I split it in half or plant the whole thing after it heals? I'm thinking I could chop it then graft something to the lower mid, perhaps Eric's Melted Wax or something cool & funky like a crest. ๐คhmmmmmm
