Rolex stolen — what actually happens if it’s flagged with an active police report?
Hi guys,
I’m pretty sure my watch has been stolen, and I’ve already reported it to the police. I’m hoping there’s still a chance of getting it back one day, but I’m a bit unsure about how Rolex actually handles these situations.
From what I’ve read, the process seems inconsistent. In some cases, a flagged watch is simply denied service and returned to whoever brought it in, while in other cases Rolex withholds the watch until ownership is verified. It also sounds like having an active police report can make a big difference.
I’m wondering if there’s anything else I can do to strengthen the chances of recovering it. The watch was originally a gift, so it isn’t registered in my name. Would it help if the original owner provided a signed statement confirming that it was gifted to me?
If anyone has experience with Rolex’s procedure for stolen or lost watches, I’d really appreciate any insight. Success stories are also very welcome right now — I could use a little hope. Thanks!
