My eyes! Finally got semi- decent pics!

I think they are cool... so does my mam. Just wanted to share.

u/Acegonia — 4 days ago

FINALLY got... ok pics of my eyes. Hope you enjoy!

Sorry for the dramatic title. Ive been so jealous of so many people in here for so long. But I finally got... *ok* pics of my eyes.(pls ignore the sweatiness, sunburn, wrinkles, eyebags, cakes mascara, and bloodshot-ness🫡)

I really like my eyes. I think they are pretty cool Hope folks enjoy them too.

Happy to finally be able to share them. Greenish grey with brown splodges, freckles and a blue spot. Imo. Id love to hear what other people see. I get told green a lot but I really dont think they are.

...if anyone wants to.. do the thing.. with the circle and the 4 pics 🫱🫲 ...my gratitude would be immense and eternal (i am a technological luddite , it took me 20 minutes to make this post, even though ive posted on reddit many times before.)

For any genetic enthusiasts: My maternal grandma had a brown and a blue eye, my mam has a brown and a green/Hazel eye and my dad has super blue eyes.

"Beep beep!!" 'Friendly wave'

I drive a scooter. I live in the mountains of taiwan. The roads are narrow and wind-y. Terrible visibility and people drive insanely here, so speeding up would be stupid and risky.

I was driving my usual route to work. Driving the speed limit or slightly over. There are very few spots to safely overtake, but when I hit them I kept to the side. Standard driving etiquette.

Some asshole in a (shock) BMW was up my arse the whole way down the mountain. Didn't overtake at any of the safe spots.

Th road opened up a *bit* at the bottom of the mountain and he flew past me suddenly, with very little space between us and beeping the whole way. It was quite a reckless manuver- the kind that works great until it kills someone.

I just kept going. When I got to the very slow traffic lights ahead, I made sure to weave my scooter through the cars until I found a nice spot that put me *right in front of him*. Again. (I could have kept going to the front, but... I liked *that* spot.)

Gave him a big smile and a friendly wave.

Question about demographics of this sub (apologies in advance)

I am a straight(ish) asexual female.

I joined this sub because i like moustaches. Also because the people who post here already generally very handsome and who doesnt enjoy looking at beautiful things??

Was chatting with a mate, and I mentioned i followed this sub. He burst out laughing and said that this sub was 1) 99% gay men, and 2) used for hookups (he is gay and says hes hooked up with dudes via this sub before).

He said this like it was a well known fact.

My gast was flabbered! I just... thought it was people who like, have, or want advice about moustaches. Moustache aficionados.

Am I hopelessly naive?? Or is he projecting?

EDIT: thank you all for the feedback so far! 5hrs in and the results are... mixed.

plenty of gays, plenty of straights, at this point...

1 female moustaficionado like myself.

The straight dudes seem to think this sub can be a bit gay, and the gays also seem to feel its a bit gay.

And there is one tender sheltered soul who, bless them, is weirded out by this post. May they never discover, ah, the rest of the internet.

Keep Rockin' those 'staches my fellow sexy humans!

Who is this cute lil hitchiker?

He's giving me dragon vibes! Curious to see what it will grow into. Found him on me after a lil jungle trek. Location: Yanmingshan, Taiwan.

Apologies for pic quality- he(/she) was an active little guy, hard to get pics in focus.

What wasp was this?

I know this is a looooongshot without pics, but here goes! Location Northern Taiwan, jungle/forest, at about 500 metres elevation.

I was walking the dog and we were in the forest, I brushed off a bush, and was immediatelyhit with a STRONG firey burning sensation on my hip, shoulder and underarm.

My first thought was FIRE ANTS! But at hip height? I got back on the road (i was close by it) and looked back and saw a wasp nest.

They seemed to be small- under 2 cm, and very sleek, slim and streamlined in build- more like a mud wasp than a regular wasp. Colour seemed to be almost entirely warm yellow, not much black/other colours.

I would say they were aggressive because of how fast they stung, but not extremely so as they didnt follow.

I saw a clump, about the size of a fist, of them in the bush, at about hip height, and what I think is most unusual is... it seemed like they were on a Web, rather than a regular wasp nest?? Not caught in a web but like they were clustered around/on a sphericalish web.

the way it was shaking immediately reminded me of how a spiderweb will shake of you twang it or there's wind.

Only other detail is they were pretty quiet, and the buzz was very high pitched

Stings were extremely painful for about 10-15 mins but subsided pretty fast... but now 2 days later I have massive red welts on the areas that got stung (like... tennisball sized, hot, red and swollen. A bit itchy.)

Anybody got any ideas at all (99.99999%sure it wasn't asian hornets)

"You don't understand!" (How i got my second tattoo.)

I got my first tattoo at the ripe young age of 15. While on a school trip. To South Africa. In an Amusement park.

It was supposed to be a simple, solid black, cute lil Gecko. I got it just below my pelvic bone, just edging into my pubes.

The artist messed up, and one of the hands blended into the head. So, it had a long, thin, wiggly tail and body, and what looked like a massive oval head.

It looked like a sperm. On my crotch. Pointing towards my vagina.

I got back to Ireland and went to a tattoo shop and said I needed to get a cover up. They took one look at me and said "too young". I panicked, and almost shouted "NO! You don't understand! I NEED a cover up!!" And whipped out the tattoo.

The artist stared for what seemed like an eternity but was probably 4 or 5 seconds, visibly winced and replied:

"Yea, fair enough. I'll book you in for tomorrow"

The Danshui Peacock

Disclaimer: I am not insane. Probably.

I am very, very sure there is a peacock living in(on top of?) one of the buildings to the right of the macdonalds across from danshui/tamsui MRT

I grew up with a peacock, their call is VERY distinctive (and loud). Ive never seen a peacock there, but the mechanic shop in that area has a peacock tail feather on display which I believe is not a coincidence.

Ive been hearing it for the better part of a decade. Peacocks can live 25 years, so this is not outside the realms of possibility.

My mate keeps saying i'm nuts- surely i'm not the only one to hear and notice this??!?

EDIT: We have recieved confirmation. Repeat. W have Achieved Confirmation! Validation acquired. Faith in sanity restored.

also, it seems that peacocks are far from the most unusual pet here, which is excellent!

Where to find David Attenborough documentaries (eg, planet earth 2) with mandarin dubs/excellent mandarin nature doc recommendations?

Hello all! I teach at an alternative school. I found some of my students pulling the legs off grasshoppers 'so they couldnt run away'

I want to try inspire a love and respect for nature- but I dont speak mandarin, so i cannot narrate a documentary for them.

Has Planet Earth been dubbed in mandarin?

Does anyone have a link/location to download?

Would also love any recs for quality mandarin language nature documentaries!

Thank you all!

A wholesome moment on a rainy day

I live in Taiwan and the rains are upon us.

As is tradition, I left my house without an umbrella, jacket, raincoat, hood etc because I am bad at life.

As I was waiting at the (very slow) traffic lights, trying to loop my scarf over my head in a futile attempt to stay dry, a young woman walked up beside me, and without saying a word, stood close enough to shelter me under her umbrella.

I smiled gratefully and said xie xie nii!! (Thank you) she smiled back and said bu kuqi (you're welcome) she asked where i was going, I said (in a combo of my terrible Chinese and physical gestures) the train station- but dont worry, I will run!

She walked me across the road under her umbrella, then i thanked her and said goodbye with another smile, and ran off to miss my train.

Such a lovely moment of kindness from a stranger. Made my day.

Heartbreaking- I know the illness.

https://youtube.com/shorts/0Sa3M4tq7gg?si=rBITsfbeFGfOXtbJ

i know the family.

Fucking horrific situation. A few years ago this fella (craig) was a very happily married father of two sons. Both diagnosed with Friedrichs Ataxia. Younger son died. Older son declining fast. Wife institutionalised with severe Huntingtons.

Dont even know what I want to achieve with this post- support? Awareness? Friedrich Ataxia has no cure, and is a very literal death sentence. (Also fuck Huntingtons.)

But there has been progress made.

He should be able to access this drug to help his only remaining child.

The summer is upon us(ish)!

I used to be a Pocari Sweat gal, but now it's prefer Fin for its more 'watery' taste (+its taiwanese made!)

Or are there other drinks you prefer? I sometimes do water with a pinch of salt, sand throw in some combo of lemon/ cucumber/fresh ginger/herbs (mint, rosemary, or that one that tastes like pineapple/mango) but i am a lazy person soooo.
