Does This Prototype Roguelight Have a Fun Game Loop?

I'm looking for some play testers for Frog Miners. Just trying to see if the premise is fun at this stage. It's bare bones at the moment but I'm thinking it will be a roguelight game where you upgrade bits and bobs between rounds and more dangerous elements get introduced between rounds.

Little Ghosties has 5k Wishlists

I'm really happy that I've been able to get to 5k wishlists before Early Access launch on the 7th of Sep. It's the highest number of wishlists I've gotten before a launch so I'm really hopeful this desktop idle game can be successful.

It seems the new Steam personal calendar is the reason I've had a big spike towards EA launch. Desktop pet games are quite difficult to promote as a solo developer so this change has come at a great time.

I decided to launch into Early Access because I wanted the players to decide what characters I add and what features I improve.

The demo is live too if anyone wanted to check out the game.

I'd love to hear your thoughts and questions.

Is Kickstarter Worth It For Solo Devs?

I’ve heard lots of positive things and negative things about kickstarter and wanted to know if anyone has any incite or experience with it as a solo dev?

The negatives I heard of are that it takes a few months to set up a good campaign, you have to bring your own audience before you get any traction on the site and the backers expect a Steam key so the most fan like audience reviews on steam don’t count towards your review score.

The positives I’ve heard are that you do get more fans than you would have if you hadn’t done a campaign, you get the money for the game before launch so helps with cash flow and it’s a legitimising achievement to have won a campaign.

One question I have is, is it worth it in balance? And is it worth it as a solo dev?

I guess as a solo dev I value getting a few small games out per year and I worry that spending time on a page that may not get many likes could be time better spent elsewhere.

I’m keen to hear from you.

What Mechanics Do You Want To See In A Nodebuster Like?

Hi I’m Chris, the dev behind A Game About Making A Planet. The launch went great and I’m now redesigning some visuals and will be adding some new game modes.

What makes AGAMPA unique is it's gravity pulse merging mechanic.

I thought I’d ask what sort of game modes or mechanics do you want to see next?

I thought about instead of a damage area we could have projects that bash the asteroids into the planet? Or a movable gravity push or something that always faces the planet?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm Making A Cozy Idle Desktop Companion Game (Little Ghosties)

Hi everyone!

I've been busy improving the demo for Little Ghosties which is out now on Steam. https://store.steampowered.com/app/4132960/Little_Ghosties/

After a fairly successful performance at the Steam Next Fest I've been a bit worried about the lack of content creators and press making any content about the game.

I understand it's difficult to make content for an idle desktop game as the pace is quite drawn out.

I have contacted content creators and I've been successful with past games which is making me question how well this game will be marketed before launch.

I have 2.5k wishlists now after Next Fest which is amazing but it's far away from resulting in breaking even with sales (if the projections are correct).

I'm hoping for 7-12k before launch. I think that will only happen if content creators cover the game.

I'm still making the demo as good as it can be before I add full game content, so perhaps the content creators will bite more when there is a Steam key to give them. Who knows. (I like the fishing analogy)

Any thoughts or suggestions or advice from Idle Desktop devs with experience would be very welcome.

Anyways I've added a Seesaw to the demo and I'm surprised by how playful the ghosts are with it. (It's all procedural animation so I've not made them do that)

Day 3 Of The Steam Next Fest - Kinda Good for a Solo Dev

So I'm making a desktop companion game called 'Little Ghosties' you hatch, raise, feed and play with little ghosts on your desktop. https://store.steampowered.com/app/4132960/Little_Ghosties/

I had 400 wishlists going into the Steam Next Fest and hardly any content creator coverage (I'm guessing that's because it's a desktop companion game) So now since the Next Fest I have over 1k and I'm pretty happy.

The reason is that I will make some money from the game. I'm planning on making a load of small games that stack to create a living wage from indie game dev. And this game seems to now be on track to at least make a few thousand when it launches. As I'm a solo dev, I should be able to make this work.

Little Ghosties Demo Launches On Tuesday!

Hi!
I’m making a cozy idle pet collection desktop game called Little Ghosties.

The demo comes out on Tuesday.

I’m really excited to share what I’ve been working on with the cozy game community.

My last game was an incremental game and the Reddit community are certainly feisty to say the lease.

If this looks like the sort of game you’d like to play then drop me a wishlist on Steam.

Many thanks,

Chris

Hi!

I'm super excited to show my latest trailer for 'A Game About Making A Planet' The game comes out on the 4th of May and I can't wait to share it all with you.

Real Civil Engineer, Idle Cub, GrayStillPlays and Blitz enjoyed the game and have posted coverage on YouTube.

I've got 3k wishlists, 8k demo downloads on Steam so fingers crossed the launch goes well.

The demo is available on Steam and the prototype is on Itch.io

I've got another big YouTuber releasing a video soon so keep an eye out.
