I'm a cradle Orthodox. I attend the liturgy and try to be a good Orthodox but something has always annoyed me and I found it to be both weird and gross is the focus on the remains of saints who many have already gone rotten (like a few rotten corpses I saw displayed at a church) or a preserved body part that people obsess over and think it'll heal them. Can someone give me a proper explanation for that? I understand the origins of it and the meaning but the idea that a rotten corpse is holy because it belonged to a saint that passed is not something I can accept for now.
