i hate these things with a burning passion. they always find a way to land on me when i’m out working on the yard. one was unlucky enough to get knocked off and incapacitated for long enough for me to unsheath and stab it. at the peak i was killing 30 a day. should i have been saving them for birds?

anyone know what happened? i drive this and the taconic daily (with multiple dogs in my van) and i am intimately familiar with the rep most drivers have here, wondering if this was a severe mechanical issue or an accident gone bad. remember to change your oil ladies and gents!

to be clear i made my own cake (not pictured), but doug’s cake is pancakes (he fckn trips over pancakes), stacked together with his favorite wet food, topped with chicken and cheese, served on a bed of kibble.

so a fun fact about douglas and i, is that we share a birthday! he was born (according to his papers) 8/10/17 and i was born 8/10/97. i added a bunch more photos cuz he’s my favoritest lil bean in the whole world. and yes, his middle name is dimmadome.

to start, i’m (29) not a dad, but my dad sent this photo a a couple days ago, when i mentioned we had similar hand size/shape. seeing his arthritis and hand spots just made me bust out in tears for a good minute. seeing how he’s been walking lately, his greying hair, hearing about his pain lately and chronic health issues (overweight, hypertension, a-fib) makes me sad to think he’s deteriorating almost too quickly.
he’s still sharp as a tack and only 62. hell, his mom is still alive at 84. but he’s been to the hospital a couple times recently with “heart episodes” (a-fib) and at those times, i do think the worst. we had a bit of a rocky relationship when i was growing up, really up until i moved out and didn’t talk to anyone for like two years. only after coming back to see everyone, about five years ago now, things have been good and i literally don’t want to miss anything. i offer help where i can, i come over for dinner often with my dog (who often reminds them of the old family dog), and i call often just to check in. it’s sad to think ill only be able to do these things for so long, so im just enjoying while i can. don’t we kind of have the same hands?

ETA: for everyone saying leave no trace or that i’m littering, consider the dozen or so pieces of ACTUAL garbage i picked up along my way, because yes i had a trash bag with me for this exact reason. or the fact that i did next to nothing to change the existing environment around the find. i took trash and left a treasure, albeit a very small one, but im not leaving a $70 ounce of silver out for people to find, i don’t have it like that.
