Will my MC ever let me work remotely in peace?

I just got DNA results back a couple of weeks ago (posted in this sub). I have a 40% MC.

I am able to work from home. Except, my 15 month old is still too high maintenance and high energy to do so. She’ll chew the carpet, cords, any furniture. She can’t really hangout if she’s not doing something… she’s crated in another room while I work, and she loves her crate I won’t hear a peep from her.

What age was yours able to just exist?

FWIW, she was a stray for 8 months and has been slow to adapt to inside living. She’s doing so much better than when I got her.

We’re also awaiting heartworm results right now, so our activity and enrichment has been limited. On a normal day, I’d be able to do more with her to knock her down a bit before work.

I have so many other MC questions, I’ll probably be here a lot!

I didn’t even know this breed existed (results at end)

Results at the end!! Can you guess?? I didn’t!

>!I thought she would’ve had some JRT, fox terrier, or rat terrier would’ve been higher!! I didn’t know that mountain cur is a breed. Husky was a wild card that I didn’t expect!<

(I did post in some other dog groups, I’m just so shocked! I think I posted here for guesses back when I adopted her.)

I didn’t know Mountain Curs existed but apparently I have one!

My top guesses were rat terrier and fox terrier. I was so shocked to see mountain cur, especially not even knowing this breed existed!

She was a stray in Alabama. I have lots of reading to do! Would love to connect with more cur/terrier owners!

Apparently I have a Mountain Cur [& terrier]

4 hours ago I had no idea this breed existed. Thank you, Embark!

I have lots of reading to do!

My lab-mix isn’t a lab, nor much of a terrier!

ETA: idk why I didn’t consider APBT as terrier when choosing the title for my post. I sincerely apologize to all APBT, and request you give yours a big smooch from me.

I am so surprised! I’ve never even heard of her most prevalent breed…

SPOILERS:

I thought (eta) rat terrier would be much higher, and APBT would be lower!

The rescue had her listed as a lab-mix, and went 0/4!

My vet wants to start Doxycycline the same day as Melarsomine Injection

UPDATE AT BOTTOM

My 27lb 15 month old rescue dog was recently diagnosed with heartworm.

She was negative in January, started a preventative in April, and tested positive 7/31.

My vet has done the antibiotic and injections at the same time for 15 years and all of the patients have been clear afterwards. I did question this because it’s not what the AHS currently recommends. They said I can do whatever I’m comfortable with.

Since my dog was negative in January, has been on preventatives and asymptomatic, I assume the infection is earlier stages. I didn’t receive a copy of the blood panel, and my vet is going to do an X-Ray before starting treatment to assess damage.

If I were to switch vets, I would have to bring her in for an initial physical which increase costs. I was quoted over $1,500 USD more from another vet than mine. This would also add more time before starting treatment.

At the end of the day, how different could results be from my current vet’s protocol than AHS protocol?

ETA: thanks everyone, I’ve called another vet. Even though mine was willing to do what I’m comfortable with, I think I’d prefer a vet that has experience in the recommended treatment. Since I’m not a vet myself!

Skye and Aunt Julia - S2 E7

As far as casting goes, I don’t actually see the two being mother and child.

However, the little catch-up they have after Aunt Julia decides to back out of selling the summer house is a very touching scene. Aunt Julia seems pretty interested in Skye’s week hanging out with all of the kids and their kiss with Cam Cameron. It did its job in humanizing Aunt Julia, for me, anyways.

Rewatching…. I forgot how deep the love triangle runs

I’m rewatching and don’t remember the love triangle running this deep. I never read the books, I’ve only watched the show. I do not remember belly kissing Jeremiah before Conrad!!

Not really a new or exciting take, just something I had forgotten.

This triangle lasting so long is so weird imo and probably why I’ll never read the books. The show is a good summer watch, though.

Sleep schedule for 13 month old dog - how much should they be sleeping at this age?

I’ve posted a few times as my puppy has aged to try and get a better feel for how much she should be sleeping. She’s about 13 months old and an unknown mix (probably some type of JRT/Terrier mix).

Our schedule on weekdays is as follows:
6-8 awake
8-12 crate/sleep
12-1;sometimes 12-2 when my mom helps, awake
1-5 crate/sleep
5-7 awake
7-8 maybe another nap if she’s tired
8-9 awake

Yesterday over the weekend she had this schedule
8-12 awake
12-2:30 crate/sleep
2:30-7 awake
7:30ish out for the night (we had a big afternoon at a family party so she was tired)

I’m asking because I feel like she sleeps a lot on workdays but she can’t yet be trusted to be free. She just asked to go to bed after only being awake for 2 hours. I always let her take a nap if she asks to go in her crate because she gets destructive if she’s overtired! Though she seems to do better on the weekends, I wonder if having to wake her up early on work days messes with her sleep.

TLDR: I don’t know how much my pup should be sleeping, and I should really just do a DNA test to better understand her needs!

S3E3 - “How you been little sis” ICK

When Conrad shows up at the dedication and says “how you been little sis” to Belly… gave me major ick! Conrad did not need to repeat that sentiment considering they were in a hot and heavy relationship. I know it was supposed to be an awkward reunion, but I could’ve done without that dialogue to understand that it was awkward and tense.

Is there a TSIP snark page? It’s like watching a car accident

Yes I watch the show. I’m just getting to season 3, but I turned it on for trash background noise and just to see what the characters end up doing. I’ve seen most of s3 on Tik Tok already.

No way y’all liked the books? This feels plucked from a 13 year old’s wattpad. Every other sentence in the dialogue is some huge revelation or corny flirting.

The sacrifices we make (my current sacrifice is my bedtime)

My almost 14-month old (when do I officially have to move into the dog subreddit) has trouble settling especially the closer we get to bed time. She was sleeping in her crate and I took her out for her last potty break at 10… she decided she wanted to chew her bone on the living room floor. So now I’m sacrificing my bedtime because she made such a good decision and I don’t want to kill her fun :’)

Rate my walk with my dog: 2 reactions, 2 wins, and honorable mentions

I adopted my puppy in January when she was 8 months old (now almost a year!). We’ve been working on becoming neutral around other people and animals. She can be excitement-based reactive.

During our walk today we came around a corner and got a little too close to a couple walking a dog - still separated by a patch of grass between the sidewalk and road, and we were going opposite directions so I thought odds were in our favor. She lunged and barked/whined and it was difficult for me to break her fixation on them. After passing by a few paces, she was able to check in with me again every couple of steps with some guidance from me.

Then we turned to avoid a human and dog duo that was coming up behind us quickly. I put my dog in a sit and rewarded her for engage/disengage as this dog passed. No reaction and she was able to disengage and check in with me on her own!

Then we passed a house with a little dog that was sitting out on the porch and unfortunately I didn’t see it until it was too late. This little dog started barking at us which triggered my dog. My dog barked a couple of times and then returned to checking in with me as we passed.

Then we saw the second dog again, and watched them cross the street up ahead without a reaction!

Feeling a bit discouraged because we’ve avoided reactions so well lately and this felt like a step back. But she did have some hard scenarios to navigate, and her recovery times are much shorter! She also was thinking for herself when there was enough distance between us and the trigger.

Some other wins today: no reactions when a biker, runner, and a mom with stroller passed by! She checked in with me when we saw these.

Another reaction: she barked once at a dog that was walking on the other side of the street (a main road with 2 lanes and a turning lane and sidewalks on each side, so a generous amount of distance) which we can usually ignore but it was one bark then we were on our way.

Mixed breeds with spotted chests?

Does anyone have mixes with spotted chests? I can’t seem to find any photos based on a generic google search!

Looking for ways to increase cargo tie-down hook capacity. My owners manual says it’s only 22lbs per hook. I’m looking to secure a dog crate with my dog in it so I need to increase capacity

I’m not really a car person so idk if this is a standard or not.

For the 2026 Crosstrek premium, when folding down the backseats is the driver side the single seat and the passenger side the double?

Wondering for dog crate setup

Going to make this hopefully an easy ask by laying out the facts.

My dog measures:
L: 25”
H: 16”
She’s about a year old, rescued unknown mix. I’ve had her since January and haven’t noticed any major growth.

All of these crate measurements are the interior.

The Ruffland Medium Crate measures:
L: 26”
W: 17.5”
H: 18”

The Gunner Medium Crate measures:
L: 25”
W: 18”
H: 19.75”

The Gunner Intermediate Crate measures:
L: 30”
W: 18”
H: 25”

What would you choose? My initial thought is the Ruffland as it gives more wiggle room if she grows, but the Gunner Intermediate gives too much room (might be vetoing this size as I’m typing this). The Gunner Medium is exact length but taller.
