Recipe Philly on Broad Street

I had a decent time at the bar here. Drank a good glass of pinot grigio & the food -- watermelon salad, a pork chop & key lime pie for dessert-- was actually quite good. Bartender was friendly & quick.

That said, it was a ghost town in the dining room. The hostess, servers & (I assume the manager) all looked like they were glued to watching the clock. With a menu spanning multiple continents & prices up to $100 for surf & turf, there's no way their food costs can afford to be dead as a door nail on a Wednesday evening around 7PM. Yeah there were a few folks at the bar but there wasn't a soul sitting at the tables.

Has anyone else been here yet?

Anyone like to work out?? Gym buds sought

I like to work out && am seeing if anyone here wants to join. It's definitely motivating to exercise with a friend.

I go to Planet Fitness, so obviously someone who goes there is ideal. However, I am also happy to use a guest pass & will gladly be a guest at your gym if you prefer.

I'm always looking for new workouts and will gladly try classes if you recommend.

DM me 💪

New tech office in Center City

Good news day for job growth (Burlington HQ moving to Schuylkil Yards) and now this branch office of a local heavyweight.

About 100 good jobs coming to Curtis Center.

Wish they'd move the entire operation from Exton but baby steps 🚶‍♀️

Server looking for restaurant job

Does anyone know who is actively seeking service staff right now??

I'm currently working at a Center City restaurant as a server and it's EXTRA SLOW right now. I'm not talking a few crappy nights....It's really bad. Case in point-- I was cut 3x just this week && that includes today, a Friday night shift.

I actually have a lot of good experience-- two Starr Restaurants and a tenure at another high profile Philly establishment.

I actively crawl thru Culinary Agents and am aware of who is advertising jobs there. But I also know that a lot of people go on that site & that certain places list jobs that aren't actually available.

Please DM or reply--- all assistance is greatly appreciated 👏

Ayat updates??

Does anyone have the scoop on when this NYC transplant is opening at The Roxy?? Their social media doesn't say much & ditto for their website.

I've enjoyed the Princeton NJ location and think it's gonna be popular in Rittenhouse.

Landlord- tenant lawyers?

I am thinking of pursuing a civil case against a former landlord.

Does anyone have a suggestion on a good firm ?? I understand that the better lawyers are the ones who don't advertise. Thanks

Layoffs at the, umm, kmart warehouse???

I don't have a subscription, so couldn't see past pay-wall.

However, I'm curious how the heck KMART could possibly still have a warehouse, let alone in Bucks County. Last I checked all kmarts have fled continental N America, unless I am totally missing something 😕

Anyone know why the heck this thing is still around at all?

"RGC" asking people to sign up for casinos

Has anyone seen a craigslist (yes, I'm old) posting that asks people to sign up for casinos? The person who answered said he works for "RGC", which has no website.

Basically-- they find online betting platforms that you haven't used yet and give you a referral link. Once you complete the minimum betting requirements they will PayPal $25. I was eligible for 3 casinos , Meaning I could make $75 total.

Pros -- they provided the initial bet ($15) required to sign up.

Cons -- they told me that they only pay for the whole job at once to "avoid PayPal blocking them from too many transactions". I told them I wanted to be paid after each sign up & that's not allowed.

Certainly, they can see why this would make me skeptical. When I asked for info about their company's website/ LinkedIn / anything they would not answer.

So -- does anyone know about this one?? I told them I wanted to be paid per casino but said it's not an option.

The Philadelphia Club on Walnut

Anyone on this sub a member of the men's club at 1301 Walnut and/or know someone who is?

Wikipedia says it's the oldest men's club in the USA and that it's quite tough to join (impossible without significant support from other members).

I always wonder how entities like these survive in the modern world. Also curious about why someone would want to even join a place like this.

Prediction about Evil Morty in time prison

I think Evil Morty is going to attract the attention of Time God Jessica once he inevitably learns to make the "time prison" work for him.

Could you imagine how personally devastated Morty (Prime) will become once he sees his Evil self do one thing he never could--- win the affection of Jessica.

Can someone explain the Anti Spiral's scene with Lordgenome?

Specifically, what's the deal with the scene where he first confront Lordgenome and Boota? I love this anime and pick up something new upon every single re-watch but this scene is still a mystery to me. Why, exactly, did the all powerful Anti Spiral just not vaporize Lordgenome? Why did he "employ elaborate measures" and why did this cause Boota to turn into a Beast Man looking creature?

Small boroughs with police departments

What is with the numerous Bucks County small towns thst have their own dedicated police forces?

I'm talking about Ivyland, Hulmeville, Langhorne Manor and others. These towns have population under 1000 residents. Why the heck do they need a police department for a borough thats completely surrounded by larger townships? Does anyone have anything to add about why these departments are still active? It seems like a big municipal waste, unless there are some true benefits that I'm missing.

Spicy fact about the Barnes Foundation (history)

Barnes and media mogul Walter Annenberg hated one another - it was a well known feud.

In fact, Annenberg used the press to publicly discredit Barnes & his taste in art.

Barnes' well documented last will was likely fueled mainly to keep Annenberg's hands off of his collection. We all know how that turned out...

The big reveal-

The minute you walk into the Barnes Foundation, you're standing in ANNENBERG Hall. This is the level of pettiness that even Shiv Roy wouldn't approve of.

Actually- the Annenberg Foundation was a central non-profit in the coalition to bring the collection to Philly. Naming the central hall after Barnes' blood enemy is just the icing on the post-impressionist cake. Barnes was quite clear that his Foundation not be used as a catering venue. This hall probably hosts 200 weddings per year.

The high art community doesn't get enough credit for the sheer amount of greed, ego & backstabbing that goes on.
