Hmm, these 3 prison dopes in the new SF movie trailer…gee I wonder where we’ve seen them before?

For real though, them getting cameos in the movie is pretty neat.

Is there really any surefire way to convince FG newcomers that they shouldn’t give up on their first try?

Context: I’m a pretty casual FG player who grew up with classic SF, MK, and MvC, but have always sucked hard. Despite that I still appreciate the genre for all the creativity and have a fondness for the games and genre.

The hype and impending release of Tokon got me psyched, and I was fortunate to have partaken in the beta, and maybe it’s because I’m older and understand things more, but I jived well with Tokon and really got to learn things over the past weekend. I’m locked in and I really want to play, have fun, practice, and get better online.

But being part of the beta and the online fg discussions really opened my eyes to the difficulty if entry for this genre, with so much blame from newcomers or players being thrown around. Peeps be either blaming the games for not being newcomer friendly enough, or these peeps be shamed because skill issues.

And yet, aren’t FG’s meant to be like an actual skill or sport you pick up in real life and supposed to practice and get better at it?

Legend Rider Tag Team Capsem thoughts!

Tokullectibles came through by having these in stock at $60 USD each box set (ie $4 USD each capsem).

For those unaware, this latest blindbox sparkly capsem release focuses on the primary and secondary riders of the main shows. After trying them all out in the Zeztz Driver, wanted to give some thoughts on them.

-The Ver 1 box notably has capsems for Ichigo/Nigo, and BLACK/Shadow Moon, making this box a viable option for those who don’t want to shell out for the Showa Rider capsem sets. Ichigo/Nigo give the Ichigo capsem sound, while BLACK/Shadow Moon give the generic retro Kamen Rider capsem sound.

-The Revi/Vice capsem in the Ver 2 box appears to be a dolled up re-release of the previous capsem from Terebi-kun magazine.

-The Zeztz/Nox capsems and Zeztz/Dawn capsems in the Ver 2 boxes have the same pins as the Impact capsems, making these two unfortunately pretty redundant. IMO Zeztz/Nox being Impact is fine, but I think Zeztz/Dawn shoulda had the same pins as the Punish capsem.

All in all I’d say, if you’re interested in the Legend Riders and their capsems for their sound playability in the Drivers, these two boxes are the way to go. Getting these two pretty much gives you full Heisei and Reiwa range and bypassing the need to get so many GP capsem boxes or the other DX Zeztz roleplay items. The inclusion of two Showa Rider capsems is excellent, particularly the Ichigo/Nigo one for having the only unique and important Showa sound that matters. Including BLACK/Shadow Moon covers the generic sound too and makes all the other Showa Rider capsems even more of a waste.

My current Tokon team themed around Kamala and her team ups!

Taking part in the beta right now and I’m having a blast. Kamala is my main as I’m learning more about the game, with the other team members being characters she’s teamed up with in the comics.

The other three are admittedly just relegated to assists, as I’m locking in on being a Ms Marvel main. Dunno how viable this team composition actually is and may switch it out at some point, especially once Phoenix Cyclops drops for the first DLC.

Playable Tokon at Comic Con tomorrow!

I'm a native San Diegan, so coming down to see the free stuff without badge requirements is easy. No badge needed to go to this setup at the next door Mariott starting tomorrow and get some tokon time in before the beta!

The Many Sufferings of Ensign Barnes

Barnes was one of the named side characters there from the start, and the she was presented made it seem like she was one of the more upper level ensigns, since she’d be a regular presence on the bridge.

It’s pretty amusing then that as the show progressed, she really seemed to be the complete butt-monkey of the ship, with one thing or another always happening to her, almost as if she was a comical take on the O’Brien Must Suffer running gag.

Has YOUR favorite Marvel character made it into the game yet?

Obviously when you have a Marvel roster in a game, unless your favorite character is a top tier guaranteed A-lister, it’s always gonna be a gamble if they make it into the game playable or not. So in Tokon’s case so far, has your fave made it in yet?

Kamala is my fave, so when the first Tokon trailer dropped I was so over the moon seeing both gameplay and Ms Marvel revealed right at the get-go.

Jumping on the bandwagon by providing my day 1 team and wondering what the heck kind of theme they are.

I’m coming into Tokon more as a Marvel and casual MvC enjoyer, and of all the newcomers that haven’t been in any fighting game, these four are the ones I’m most hyped for. I don’t know how viable this team will actually be, but I’m willing to give it a go.

Will admit I’m at a loss though as to what kind of theme this bunch has for commonality.

Also reporting in of the 2026 toys at one of my local Targets!

Taken from Target Mira Mesa, San Diego. Unfortunately, no deluxes.

Decided to grab Rosie in this outing, and I gotta say, seeing them in person I actually like them more than what I've seen in photos and videos.

Preview of The Amazing Guardians (featuring Kamala) motion comic from Marvel Tokon

The episode mode of Tokon looks like it’s primarily gonna be motion-comic based with matches in-between. Kieron Gillen was brought on as the writer for the game, and Betten Court is the artist for the Amazing Guardians episode specifically.

So hey it looks like we’re technically getting another Kamala comic very soon!

Since the episode mode cutscenes appear to be motion comics, hopefully they can get physical releases eventually

Engines being given the surnames of the designers Strikes Back (Part 5)

Easily the most difficult batch to search for so far because of all the international engines. Majority of the folks here had to be named after the works/companies they were built by. I also really apologize if I somehow messed up Yong Bao and Hong Mei.

The really interesting stuff learned this time around is Theo being related to Fergus, and Hurricane being related to Molly and Toby.

TIL that an actual VS comic miniseries is being released starting September

Dunno how this flew under the radar but there you go. Gonna 4 issues, released by Titan Comics, story by David Hazan and art by Jimmy Kucaj.
