Test Pilot on Test Platform
Just thought I'd show the test platform I use to test the mechanics before I install them in a scale fuselage. This is 600 size and will go in a UH-60 Jayhawk fuselage I'm building.

This is the second airplane I ever covered with vinyl. It started with a vintage Cannon RC setup, but I eventually changed it to FM, then at some point, I changed it to DSM. I built this in 2007, and I still have this model.
A Herr Piper Tri-Pacer.
This was the first plane I ever used vinyl covering on. I started covering the empennage first, and I thought it was really difficult, but I kept at it and made it work.
I had no idea I was supposed to peel the clear layer off before applying.
I covered the rest of the plane with the clear coating peeled off, but I left the coating on the tail because I had already glued it on LOL! This was 20 years ago.....
I took the mechanics out of an RC-Era C-189, and forced them into a printed CH 53. The CH 53 was intended to be a desktop toy, so I had to scale it up and modify it the best I could in my slicer. Not a lot of editing options in a slicer.
Anyway it flies, but barely gets off the ground 😂. I printed the body as lightweight as possible, but the mechanics just don't have enough ass to lift this bad boy. I ordered some blades from a YX F-119S, to see if I can adapt them, and also a four blade tail from a Goosky E2.
I think it will fly better with those adjustments, until the motor cooks-off 😂. I will report when I get them adapted.
Finally got my 110 Auto. Auto is in Magnacut, the regular 110 is S45VN. I should probably put some mineral oil on the Micarta on that one. The Micarta on the Auto comes sealed hard like G10.
Now I have to adapt a pocket clip on the Auto.
