Do any of you guys have out there alternative investments? I'm not talking about Bitcoin, I'm not talking about gold coins, I'm talking about true outside the norm investments.

I got stocks. I got bonds. I got gold. I got crypto. But I was curious about alternative investment vehicles that some people might have. Lately my feed has been blowing up with pokémon cards and people at those conventions trading hundreds to tens of thousands of dollars value cards. So that got my mind going about alternative ways of generating alpha.

The Pokemon world seems too crazy and deep for a novice like me to start trying to get into. I come from the generation of pokémon red and blue on gameboy. I have no idea of the modern manifestation of pokémon. Lol. Grading and all the different graders and all the hacks and scams and fakes. Seems daunting to try to enter that world.

I've seen the services and websites where you can buy fractional shares of famous paintings from famous artists. But then upon reading reviews that seems like a iliquid money sink according to reviews I've read.

Some people do stamps

Some people do coins

Some people do regular sports trading cards.

So people do Legos

So I'm just wondering what if any alternative things you guys do As investments? Are there any things or ideas that I'm forgetting or missing?

How's your year going?...A follow up to poll from end of last year.

Last year I asked everyone "Will 2026 be better than 2025"

https://www.reddit.com/r/vfx/comments/1pdliuo/coming_up_to_the_end_of_the_yeara_quick_little/

We're a little over halfway through the year now and I was just curious how everybody's doing? How has your prediction gone?

Is 2026 be better than 2025 so far?

  1. Yes

  2. No

  3. Worse

For me the answer is Yes. But really it's only because I just got lucky with easy as shit high paying tech job that got me out of a crazy bullshit movie I was dying on. Not because industry is really improved. In that regard, I think the industry is pretty much the same as last year and not very good. Job postings are very limited and I've had only two recruiters reach out to me for short immediate start gigs.

Roaming Data is a joke. The networks you're out on are never the better carriers and the ones you are connected to are throttled all to hell.

I like many people took the 250gb with 50gb roaming promotion. And now that I'm traveling I can firmly say it's not worth it... Maybe even a scam.

I've bounced around 3 countries in Asia. Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines. And the speeds have been absolutely horrible. And it's not the networks in these countries. I've traveled to these places with esims and sims from local carriers and the speeds were far better.

First the latency is high... Like they're piping all the requests back through Canada or something. And despite full bars and LTE icon I'm struggling to get a stable connection let alone anything above 250kbps.

It's a total throttled data scam.

Any plans for nuvio mobile to be able to download things in background?

First off thanks to the devs. Amazing work. I was just wondering if there was plans or a timeline for being able to properly download things with nuvio in the background. Currently the app goes in the background or even if the phone screen just goes to sleep, the app immediately stops downloading.

Early flight out in morning. Will I be able to get a grab or gojek at 5am from Canngu?

I have an early flight out in morning. Will I be able to get a grab or gojek at 5am from Canngu? Is pre booking a thing that's guaranteed and works? Never done it. Should I actually depart the night before and stay someplace cheap near airport?

My sleep score vanishes at noon everyday from device, Not Phone. All other scores properly reset at midnight...fitbit luxe

Not sure whats going on...gone around with support clearing caches, disconnecting/reconnecting, uninstalling/reinstalling, etc.

Nothing works...at noon every day my sleep score vanishes from my luxe and I have no idea why. The data is on my phone fine but no syncing gets the score back to my wrist.

Only hypothetical idea I have, which would be moronic if it was actually the cause, is that I go to sleep at or a little after midnight usually. And if that somehow fucks things up. Regardless it shouldn't...and you sleep score should always be displayed until a new sleep score replaces it.

Just seeing if anyone has any idea.

How do you actually enter the Grand Indonesia Mall West building on foot?

Im visiting Jakarta for the first time and will be staying near the west mall building. But on google maps street view it looks like there is literally no pedestrian walkway access into the mall. What am I missing? How do you enter?

Thanks for the help.

Struggling to get Asian/K-drama show and Anime add-ons to work

For anime I've tried "anime kitsu" and it just failed to connect/retrieve anything like its down or I'm blocked. I installed "anime catalogues" and it worked great and providing lists...but when I try to click through it says no meta data and so no links.

For asian/krama I tried "Kiss Kiss" and it just didn't work/pull anything. I tried "Yastream" and it worked at pulling in lists...but again no working links to stream.

Im just wondering what the solution other people who watch asian shows and anime use? Any that work with real debrid?

Slate AX can't run normal 2.4ghz and guest 2.4ghz networks at same time?

I was trying to setup a guest network for some IOT devices as I read thats whats best for security.

And everything seemed fine initially. But then after a minute or two both networks (or the whole router itself not sure) crashes. The networks vanish and the router seems to reboot.

I connect to the 5ghz and disable the regular 2.4ghz leaving only the guest 2.4ghz and everything seems to be just fine.

I'm going to be digital nomading/moving abroad. And one of the major tips before expatriation is temporarily moving to a no income tax state to avoid future tax issues. Especially if you're originally from California.

So before moving abroad I want to live for a short time somewhere in Texas to properly establish residency. Someplace with cheaper rents (whether rooms or whole apartments). An area survivable without a car (Uber, transit, walking). Someplace within transit or reasonable Uber of an airport. Does anywhere in Austin fit that description? Or do you have an idea of somewhere else in Texas that does?

Any information is appreciated. Thanks

Ps. Before anyone says South Dakota and 1 day residency I'm aware. But I want to do it in Texas for the mail forwarding service I plan on using.

Everyone seem to think very highly of the NEOS funds. SPYI and QQQI seem to be very well received and behaving in an excellent manner.

So what is going on with BTCI?

How can it drop more than the underlying its meant to track? BTCI down 29% vs BTC down 10%? Shouldn't it drop the same or even less because of the Call premiums?

I'm no expert and I'd be lying if I said I read all the fine print in the fund documents. But I was under the fundamental belief that the distributions were never more than the revenue generated from the call selling and interest from treasuries they hold.

But it seems they are actually eroding the NAV to do these distributions. Which is counter to how their other funds behave.

What am I missing?
