I remember those days when i wake up to this movie in KTV!
OP ran his first Marathon!
Long story short, I ran my first 5K two years ago, ended up with shin splints, and couldn’t walk properly for almost two weeks. That incident made me scared to run again.
I started strength training 8 months ago, and recently decided to give running another shot. Ran 5K again, got shin splints again, but this time the recovery was much quicker. I started conditioning my shins with specific exercises and slowly built some confidence.
Even on the day before the marathon, I was genuinely oscillating between running and not running. Then I thought, showing up is better than chickening out.
This was my first marathon, and I went straight for the 10K. Somehow, I completed it with ease. I have a bit of shin pain now, but nothing compared to what I had before.
More than the distance, this marathon gave me a lot of confidence. I finally faced a fear that had been haunting me since my first run two years ago.
And now… I’m already registered for another 10K. 🏃♂️

Celeste by Mindscapes - Ooty
We visited Celeste by Mindscapes, located between Ooty and Coonoor, for lunch. It’s about a 20-minute drive from Ooty town. The restaurant offers a fine dining experience and was completely packed when we reached around 1 PM. We had reserved a table beforehand, which turned out to be a good decision. Surprisingly, I hardly saw any Tamil families dining there.
They have a wide menu featuring Continental, North Indian, and Pan-Asian dishes, along with an impressive selection of cocktails and mocktails. We ordered Mac & Cheese (customized with spaghetti instead of macaroni), French fries for my niece, Angels on Horseback, Korean Chicken (recommended by the waiter), Sizzling Pork Chop, and Thai Green Vegetable Curry.
The Mac & Cheese was excellent and my niece absolutely loved it. The Angels on Horseback was beautifully done. Since I’m allergic to prawns, I only had the bacon and the sauce, which were lip-smacking. Unfortunately, even the slight prawn flavor triggered my allergy for a minute, so fellow prawn and bacon lovers will probably enjoy this dish much more than I could.
I was initially skeptical when the waiter suggested the Korean Chicken, but it turned out to be one of the highlights of the meal. The chicken was incredibly juicy and tender, easily one of the best I’ve had at a restaurant in recent times.
The Sizzling Pork Chop received mixed reviews at our table. My brother-in-law loved it, but my sister and I found it a bit bland. In hindsight, we should have gone with another Chinese-style pork dish the waiter recommended instead, though I can’t remember its name.
The Thai Green Vegetable Curry was served with basmati rice. It instantly reminded me of the thenga paal chicken we make at home. Different cuisine, but surprisingly similar comfort flavors.
We also tried two cocktails and a mocktail, all of which were really good. We had planned on ordering desserts, but my niece was getting a little cranky by then, so we decided to skip them.
The bill came to around ₹6,500. It’s definitely on the expensive side, but I felt the food quality, hospitality, ambience, and overall fine dining experience justified the price. The restaurant also has a splendid view, which makes the experience even better.
A special mention to the waiter who took care of us throughout the meal. I don’t remember his name, but his recommendations were spot on and his service was excellent.
Would I revisit? Absolutely. It’s the kind of place I’d happily come back to for a special occasion.
