Need insightful opinions on the purchase of used OnePlus phones

Hello all! Long post ahead. I need some opinions and different outlooks to affirm my decisions and get a different perspective. ( I am based in India btw)

I currently use the OG OnePlus Nord, been about 5-6 years. I am considering an upgrade. I am interested in getting another OnePlus device, mainly the 12, 13, 13s, and 15. This purchase would mainly be from the used market, as I feel I'll get it comparatively cheaper, and it will still last as long for me. Please do take note of the prices I'm considering.

OnePlus 12: Wanted to get this as it's supposed to be the best OnePlus, with the camera and all. However, as I researched further, I realised it wouldn't be as future-proof and would have considerably older battery tech. Also, a lot of reports of the motherboard issues, particularly for this model, made me think otherwise. Thinking of spending less than 35k INR or 365.39 USD for the 512 GB.

OnePlus 13: The same phone with more future-proofing. I think I can get used to the technical downgrade, as I am coming from a 5-year-old phone. The device is great, will work well for 3+ years. In comparison to the current market, though, the battery is less (and with the new data, that OnePlus 13 has actually a 5400 mah battery instead of 6000 mah, which was a punch in the gut).

I feel I'll get a good flagship experience with this phone. Also, despite its big size, this phone feels comfortable to hold ( without case, haven't checked with a case). Considering paying 40 to 45k for 512 GB and 50 to 60k INR or 522 to 627 USD for the 1 TB version.

OnePlus 13S: A phone I initially loved during the launch. I love the size. However, it is technically a downgrade in certain areas. As I said, for me, any phone will be an upgrade, but I would prefer a well-rounded device. I am considering this phone because of its size. Willing to pay up to 45k INR or 470.11 USD for the 512 GB version.

OnePlus 15: The latest tech. This phone would be the best for future-proofing and getting the best tech and battery. The camera, even if people say it is a downgrade, I feel it would be good enough for me. (Although the 13 or 12 might be better in low light). However, even though this phone is the same size as the 13, it feels much bigger in hand, and feels a bit uncomfortable ( without a case). The comfort isn't a major factor for me, but the 13, 13s, and the 15 are the phones I've held, and I noticed that in my first impression. Willing to pay 60 to 65k INR or $626 to $681 USD for the 512 GB.

Current OnePlus Nord: Regardless of buying a new phone, I do plan on going to a local shop and getting the device repaired a bit. I will change the battery, the stuck power button and other small issues for about less than 3-4k INR or less than 40 USD. Planning to use the Infinity X custom ROM, thus giving my device Android 16 and better performance. I can also try using banking apps.

This phone might be my secondary, mainly as a navigation device and for other stuff. I can also see myself using this phone for another 2 more years as my primary device, and maybe look at purchasing a new phone later on.

The main reason for getting a OnePlus and a new phone is because of the fact that OnePlus is shifting identities and may eventually shut down in India, and I have always wanted a OnePlus flagship. And the ongoing price hikes and all made me realise I should buy a new phone, thus futureproofing and being steady for the next 5 years. Getting from the second-hand market would help reduce the prices considerably. I also need storage, as my current phone is filled up (128 GB/ I know I can back up and free up space, so that's there).

Now, I need your actual opinions, and please, not one-line answers. Looking for people who have also researched the same, and those users who have used these devices. Also, don't be biased towards any particular phone.

Q: Is my outlook reasonable? Do you have any other devices you'd say might be a better choice in this market (second-hand market too)? Also, are the prices for the second-hand phones correct and reasonable? Let me know your perspectives and help a buddy out!

Reached the 5000km milestone!

Atom just completed 5000km!

To be honest, I have only ridden it for about 1300km. The 3rd service will be done by the second week of August, this year!

Things I've noticed:

  1. The mileage decreased from 50 to 44.5, according to the in-built measurement. Makes sense as I rev Atom a lot in 2nd and 3rd gear.

  2. Started noticing they around 5-6000 RPM, the mirror is blurry. Not a big deal for me, as it goes away when I shift to a higher gear.

  3. Sometimes the tire skids a bit, while turning or sudden brakes. Just concerned. I feel it's a skill issue.

  4. Was experimenting with different petrol from companies- shell power is aggressive while Nayara feels more easy to ride and sounds a bit different.

  5. Sat as a pillion. It is uncomfortable. I need to fix that.

I hope I can experience longer rides with Atom. Always feel like I want a bit more after I finish riding!

[WTS] iPhone 12 Purple (128GB) | 93% Battery | ₹22,500 | SG Palya|

Selling for a friend. The price is set based on what I can get through a local reseller. However, I'd like to have someone use it for 2-3 more years before being sold locally. Face-to-face deal only.

Note: The phone recently had a minor touch issue caused by a faulty internal connection wire (flex cable). A skilled local technician replaced just that cable for ₹3,100, successfully preserving the 100% genuine Apple OLED display instead of downgrading to a cheap third-party panel. Because Apple digitally locks its parts, swapping the wire triggers an "Unknown Part" warning in the settings. However, the tech gave me the original microscopic IC chip, which I will hand over to you as physical proof that the OLED screen is authentic. The display quality, touch, and colors remain flawless.

- Storage: 128GB

- Color: Purple

- Battery Health: 93%

- Cosmetic Condition: Clean body, minor scratches

- Includes: New basic lightning cable, basic screen protector (already applied)

- Location: SG Palya, Bangalore (F2F meetup only)

Fully inspect, test the touch, cameras, and Face ID before you buy.

DM me if interested!

WTS: Studds Vault Box (Black)| ₹800| SG Palya

I'm selling this Studds Vault Box. It's small and sturdy. Will be handing over both the keys. The reason for selling is that I didn't prefer the style of it on my bike, and it is too compact.

I didn't buy it. But it was purchased for around 1300 at an offline store. But I don't have the receipt for the same.

Selling it for 800. Hoping to give it to someone who actually needs it. ( Do note, its compact. I don't understand the use)

Prefer F2F, Located in SG Palya.

What's the purpose of Traction Control? Where can I technically use it?

I have read the Manual. I understand the Traction Control is mainly to prevent skidding, especially when there is less grip (like when raining).
But since I can turn it off manually for a ride (until I turn the bike off again), what can I do with it?

I have seen people switch it off when doing drag races. Why?

As a user, what can I use the traction control for other than the safety aspect( not disregarding that at all).

Also, any other tips and tricks for this bike that can help improve performance or to get to know this bike better?

Attached a guardian bell - Better places to keep it?

Hey all!

Atom got an update! Added the official radiator guard as well as the knee pads.

Now, a well wisher wanted to hang a guardian bell. Currently attached it at the side, where the wires go through.

Technically, it's not supposed to be seen and be at the lowest point of the bike. However, I'd like to attach it where it won't get lost, stolen and somewhat easily removable when I give it for servicing.

Do you happen to know any places on the XSR where I can attach it safely and help me out with this regard?

Need Help Building My First Riding Gear Setup for the XSR 155

(Used AI to make it easier to read, as I rambled on a lot)

Hey all!

I recently got the Yamaha XSR 155 as my first bike, and I’m absolutely stoked about it. Now, I know I will eventually fall or make mistakes while learning, so I want to invest in proper riding gear early itself instead of delaying it.

My primary use case is city riding:

  • internships/work
  • college/life in general
  • short daily rides

But eventually, I do want to go on longer rides and tours too. So ideally, I’d like gear that works for both city use and occasional touring.

One thing I’m particular about is this: I want the gear to feel like part of my outfit and lifestyle, not something I only wear for long rides. Because of that, I can already see myself wearing a helmet and gloves every single ride, even for a nearby store run. I’d like to do the same with riding shoes/boots too, so I’m looking for stuff that:

  • goes well with outfits in general/ease of use
  • looks good with the silver XSR
  • is functional enough for protection ( do I trade protection for a bit more comfort/ useability?)
  • doesn’t scream “full race rider” everywhere I go

Because of this, I’m a bit confused about jackets and pants. I don’t know if I can realistically wear full riding pants and jackets daily to work/internships and normal life stuff. So I was thinking:

  • maybe knee guards instead of riding pants?
  • maybe a casual-looking riding jacket?
  • maybe arm sleeves + gloves for shorter rides?

I also plan on getting:

  • Balaclava
  • Maybe arm sleeves
  • Riding shoes/boots
  • Knee guards
  • Jacket eventually

For helmets, I want something that has all the bells and whistles. I really like the black tinted visor look because, let’s be honest, it looks cool!

But I’m not sure how practical it is for night riding. So I was wondering:

  • Should I just get a helmet with an internal sun visor instead?
  • Or get both a tinted visor and a clear visor?

I’d also love if the helmet matches the silver/black aesthetic of the XSR.

Right now I’m mainly considering:

  • SMK Stellar
  • NHK K5R

Would love opinions on these.

For gloves, literally everyone seems to recommend the Viaterra Holeshot gloves.

  • Are the Pro versions worth it?
  • Or are the normal ones enough for a beginner?

For balaclavas, I was looking at the Rynox ones.

I’m still very confused about boots, jackets, and pants though — especially daily usability and styling.

Also:
Are the RE jackets actually good? I keep seeing people selling them for around 5–6k after buying them during the recent RE sale. Are they genuinely worth it at that price, or should I just go for something else entirely?

Budget-wise:
I’m thinking around 30k total for gear.

Roughly:

  • around 5k per item ideally
  • can stretch to 7–8k for something that’s genuinely worth the extra money

So based on my needs, riding style, bike, and budget:

  • what would you recommend?
  • what should I prioritise first?
  • what are things beginners usually overlook?
  • any brands/products I should avoid?
  • any accessories that genuinely improve daily riding comfort?

Would also appreciate:

  • online/offline store recommendations
  • whether to buy at MRP offline or wait for online discounts
  • tips for sizing and fitting
  • Bangalore store suggestions if possible

Since this is my first proper gear purchase, I’d genuinely appreciate solid advice from experienced riders.

Thanks in advance!

Story time: Getting the XSR 155 as my first bike!

TLDR: The journey of how I ended up buying my first bike, the Yamaha XSR 155. What was going through my mind, the confusion, the struggles, test rides, second-hand hunting, and finally getting the bike. Reddit genuinely helped me a lot through this process, so I just wanted to share my story with the community!

Story time!

Hello everyone! I’m 21 years old, just finished my 3rd year in college, and around September 2025, I decided I needed a bike soon. I had just gotten my license and started discussing it with my parents since I’d need one for internships, and also because I genuinely wanted to learn riding properly while I’m young. Obviously, my parents were financing it (I can’t afford one myself yet).

I’ll be honest, I did feel a bit guilty about spending my parents’ money on a bike. But my dad understands me really well. Even if I had asked for a 3–4 lakh bike, he probably would’ve agreed. He just wants me to learn properly and ride safely. Still, as a son, I wanted to be sensible with the budget and get something practical for my needs. ( Tbh, the final decision might not be the most sensible to some with the cost paid , but it felt sensible to me.)

In my head, I wanted a “one-bike garage” bike. My needs were:

  • Good in the city primarily
  • Looks amazing
  • Can handle occasional long rides
  • Easy maintenance
  • Good mileage
  • Retro/neo-retro styling

My budget was around 2 lakhs on-road (Bangalore btw). Basically, I wanted a bang for the buck first bike. Didn’t want something too expensive or too powerful since I knew I’d probably upgrade later in life.

Naturally, the RE Hunter 350 and TVS Ronin became my main options. I didn’t really consider the Honda CB350RS initially because it was stretching the budget. But then around October, news came that the XSR 155 was launching.

I checked it out, and it felt like the perfect bike for me. It's beginner-friendly (155cc engine), decent mileage, amazing looks, and good for city as well as long rides. There was also a nostalgic factor. My dad’s first bike was a Yamaha Crux R, bought just before I was born, and it STILL runs today. Lot of memories sitting on it. I actually recently rode it too. Loved the feeling, but old bikes without ABS honestly scare me a little. Additionally, people had been waiting for this bike for years, and it launched right when I was searching for my first motorcycle. It seemed like it was meant for me! It had all the great safety features and enough power to satisfy a new rider while not being over the top. However, I decided to wait after the hype dies down.

Once reviews came out, reality hit. Most people felt it was overpriced for a 155cc bike. The international version looked much better, in my opinion. And honestly, I agreed with a lot of the criticism. At that price, I could either get the value-for-money Ronin or spend slightly more for the Hunter.

So I made a proper pros and cons list based on my needs as mentioned before.

At that point:
Ronin > XSR > Hunter. (Till now, I haven't actually taken a test ride btw)

The Ronin felt like the logical choice. Comfortable, practical, good mileage, good for both city and highway rides, and I actually liked the design, unlike many others online. A bang for the buck vehicle, basically.

Regarding the Hunter, I absolutely loved the look. Still think it has the best retro styling among the three. But mileage was a concern, but understandable considering the 350 cc. I also realised this sub sometimes dislikes the Hunter mainly because it’s too popular and because the CB350RS exists in that price bracket. Fair enough. But I also realised the Hunter is targeted toward a very specific kind of rider, and I probably fit that target audience perfectly.

I should also mention that around this time, I decided I’d probably buy second-hand.

Why? Mainly to avoid Karnataka taxes and save some money for riding gear and future modifications. I was specifically looking for 2025+ models with low usage so I could still get the newer colours and avoid most early ownership issues. Was really annoyed by the high taxes. Going second-hand was a safe choice in my head as it reduces my stress a bit, and helps me learn to ride well.

Then by March 2026, confusion hit again. New 350cc bikes were launching, Triumph 400s started tempting me, the CB350RS entered my head again, and I also started worrying about my height. I’m 5’4” (163 cm), so I genuinely wasn’t sure what would suit me.

For months, I kept scrolling through OLX trying to find the perfect deal in all such bikes.

This was also when I started asking Reddit a lot of questions, about bikes, second-hand purchases, registration transfer, everything. During this time, I spoke to u/Dazzling-Inside4078 after reading his XSR review. And honestly, the conversations helped me massively. He basically told me that all the bikes on my list were good bikes, and that I’d enjoy whichever one I chose. He explained the differences properly, reassured me about my height, and most importantly, told me to stop overthinking spec sheets and just test ride the bikes as that's where I'll find out what suits me.

So I finally started test riding them. First was the Ronin, the most logical bike for me on paper. But the moment I sat on it, it felt weird. Despite it having a lower seat, it felt too wide, the bike felt bulkier than expected, and didn't feel right. I was able to ride it well, and I know that the GTT helped from not stalling, but just didn’t feel right for me.

Then came the Hunter. And wow. IT was my first time riding a 350cc, and I instantly connected with it. It felt powerful, and I didn't feel scared, but confident. I literally couldn’t stop smiling for two days after that test ride. The hunter was the best test-ride experience I've had till now. Ironically, it was the bike lowest on my list initially.  But after longer rides, I got used to the power and then it felt normal.

Then I rented the XSR for a day. IT was good too. Didn't have the Hunter experience, but it felt right, too. It was comfortable, gave me confidence, light, forgiving, sporty, and practical at the same time. and I knew it had power, just didn't test it out then.

With this, I realised it was between the Hunter and the XSR. Now, i need to purchase it. By God's grace, I found an XSR on OLX. The owner had added useful accessories, maintained it really well, and clearly knew what he was talking about. While researching further, I realised I had actually seen this exact bike on YouTube; the seller was a YouTuber. He initially quoted 1.80L, and after discussions, we settled at 1.70L. Considering a new one would’ve cost around 2.10L, I felt it was a pretty solid deal.

And with that, I finally got my bike. My Yamaha XSR 155. And honestly? It fits everything I originally wanted. It gives me decent mileage, manageable power, low maintenance, sporty character, and still has that neo-retro styling I wanted. The nostalgic Yamaha connection was there too. IT has decent looks, not as much as the Hunter though.

This bike made me realise I actually enjoy revving bikes hard. I love hearing the VVA kick in, and now I genuinely want to improve my riding skills properly and maybe even try track riding someday. To be a proper rider eventually.

Besides, I got it at a great price. And avoided the whole break-in period, allowing me to enjoy the bike well. It’s also been incredibly forgiving while I learn. Initially, I've stalled multiple times, scratched it here and there and was scared crossing certain speeds. But now I’m getting more confident. I’ve started learning rev-matching, engine braking, slow-speed control, and braking techniques properly.

The posture issues people mention were solved thanks to the handlebar riser already installed on the bike, and honestly, the suspension doesn’t bother me much since I,m young and most of my riding is in the city anyway. I still haven’t gone on a proper long ride yet because I want to first buy good riding gear and improve my skills a little more.

I’m just genuinely happy with this bike. It's my first and she is lovely. I do make a lot of mistakes, but she is forgiving and takes care of me. She feels right.

So Reddit, meet my Yamaha XSR 155, Atom!

Apologies for such a long post and thank you to all those people who have posted and answered a lot of my queries. I knew Reddit was the reason I was able to get a good user experience and solid advice.

Would love to hear your thoughts, riding tips, or suggestions!

Need date ideas and plans for coming Sunday (17th May 2026)

Hey all! My girlfriend doesn't believe I can pull off a good date plan. And shes kinda right.

Would Bangalore couples and people let me know some plans or give me ideas that would inspire me to make a better plan?

I want to prove her wrong by making sure she has a great time and be like Damn! I didn't know you could plan well! Please help me out!

Details as of now we will meet after breakfast and be having lunch together. So thinking of taking her to Glens for cupcakes and maybe go to an art museum here?

Not sure where to go for lunch.

Is there any experience/ or lowkey places instead of the usual cubbon park stuff( tbh haven't been to cubbon park either).

Something to make her go wow? Unfortunately it's not late night date, so that's gonna remove that wow factor.

Basically, I need help.🙏🏽

Bobo Bm14 pro mount slipping

I have recently bought the bobo Bm14 pro mount based on reddit research. However, when I tried putting the spacers and whatnot, in the end, the bottom part keeps slipping.

I have an XSR 155.

I first attached the friction paper, and then attached the 25mm spacers and then the ball mount. I used the hex key to tighten it up. However, its comparatively loose... Where it slides on top of the friction paper.

The paper also seems to be getting ripped.

What do I do? Do I contact the company? Return the product?

Do any of you have any experience in this. This mount is comparatively bigger than others. And I thought it would be good. But I spent a good hour trying and retrying to fix it.

Hey all! I'm currently looking to purchase gear. If you happen to have anything that would fit a size 38/39 male. Do let me know! I'd like gear that would help me out.

Now, please don't ask for high prices. Might as well but another product from a different company. If it's from the glitch, I can try paying 2x- 3x the amount. Only if you're a geniune rider though

If you're reasonable and can help a fellow rider out, do let me know! If you have other gear that is reasonable for someone new, let me know!

I'm assuming baseed on my height (5.4 - 163cm) and my usual shirt size 38/39, RE jackets that would fit me would be around size M/ L.

Help me out with the sizes( might try out at the store later).

Hey all! I'm looking to purchase a watch from the US/ Japan that would be considerably cheaper than purchasing in India.

If you happen to have time to spare and can help a fellow enthusiast out. Please do let me know!

I do hope to purchase it at the same price, if that's okay. If not, I can pay a bit more? We can discuss it.

I hope to get on a call or meet Face to face so that we can be sure of each other.

If you happen to anyone coming in/ or going to these places and can purchase stuff, that would be helpful
