Here’s a picture of my cat not looking like Paul McCartney.
Will there be anymore Nimrods showings announced?
My town got two showings (4 technically but they were at the same time in different cinemas) and I went to both, but I am CRAVING more. Are they announcing more?
The Best Movie Ever.
It sounds dumb and you can have your own reasons. But as a teenager myself and someone who’s dad also does drugs and left to have my brother raise me, it just spoke to me.
The movie nearly made me cry and I might be more simple I get it I’m fourteen I don’t have a full frontal lobe, but I adore this movie and I will die on that hill.
Is there some sort of ‘schedule’ for GDTV?
It’s really cool, I just want to make sure I always catch transmission unknown
Honest Thoughts and Opinions on my Abbey Road review?
I’ve just finished reviewing all the studio albums on AOTY ( can’t say my user here as it’s self promo), and this is the one I’m most proud of, any criticism is appreciated.
“Abbey Road was the last album we recorded.” — George Harrison
Abbey Road isn’t just an album. It’s a farewell. A farewell to six and a half years of history, of musical genius and risk-taking. Who knows where the world of music would be today if it wasn’t for these four lads? Abbey Road is genuine musical class and I’m going to give it the flowers it so dearly deserves.
With the opening two tracks ‘Come Together’ and ‘Something’ you (me included) might just assume what you’re in for. You know, serious songwriting, intricate beautiful guitar melodies. Which is completely true to a high extent but it isn’t just that. Straight after them you have ‘Maxwell’s Silver Hammer’ which I understand comes under a lot of fire but it is Paul’s fun songwriting technique but executed in the most perfect way. In his prior attempts at this you could list a couple issues with it, for example it being annoying or it just not being a very nice sounding song in general. Although the chorus might slightly get on your nerves the rest of the song is just bright and is the opposite of the two openers.
One of my personal highlights on this record is Paul’s vocal performance on ‘Oh Darling’. The way he can show off his vocal range isn’t normal. I personally believe this is his best performance across a whole Beatles album but I’ll further explain that later.
To further prove my argument that the whole ‘point’ of this record is hard to pinpoint, Ringo Starr (Richard Starkey) presents you his song about the Octopus. But this isn’t just some silly song. It’s a song about being happy together and lively in harmony with no arguments or fighting etc. It’s a deep song when you get down to the true meaning and the atmosphere around the band at the time. It’s bright instrumentation really helps further the fact that there’s no set rules on this album.
‘I Want You (She’s So Heavy)’ is a song I’m heavily torn on. One part of me see’s a seven (nearly eight) minute spectacle, where another part sees a repetitive song which not too much lyrical substance. Either way you crumble the cookie it doesn’t take away from the fact that Billy Preston was absolutely on fire when recording this and deserves more recognition for his role in the Beatles Late career.
The repetition doesn’t become unbearable at all it’s just that you know there’s so much more music to come you don’t want to be stuck on the same chorus.
George Harrison gets his time to shine and this time it’s one of the biggest songs ever made. ‘Here Comes The Sun’ has one of the most beautiful guitar melodies not only written by the Beatles but ever written. It shares similar bright instrumentation with ‘Octopus’s Garden’ but this is a lot more laid back. It shows how far in just a few years his songwriting had come.
You don’t get much time to dwell on this because up next soon is the Long One.
The Long One starts with ‘You Never Give Me Your Money’. For someone who hadn’t listened to this in full for ages or at least when they did had very little cognitive thinking, this just seems like another song. I did note that the chemistry between John and Paul seemed amazing but I hadn’t suspected anything next.
This song then perfectly transitions into ‘Sun King’. Of which has a smooth, calming bass line and a more ‘whacky sounding’ guitar melody. ‘Sun King’ is a perfect dreamy song. With another perfect transition we’re met with ‘Mean Mr. Mustard’. A song which is less composed than the ones which came before it and seems to have a hundred more instruments. But again only after about a minute a so another perfect transition gives us ‘Polythene Pam’ which opens with a beautiful guitar sound. I noted that the drums on this seemed more advanced than normal.
By now I’d obviously noticed this amazing marathon of songs. Again, another song another amazing transition we get ‘She Came In Through The Bathroom Window’. By now I was starting to get emotional by the pure calibre of music I was noticing. I didn’t have much to note other than Paul’s vocal performance again shone on this album. Pure creative genius on show.
‘Golden Slumbers’ is still apart of this marathon and it might be my favourite. The slow, soft opening before going into the big chorus. Paul really shows that no matter what he can make his voice fit. The orchestration is also just ten out of ten. It is an operatic song meant for massive stages and it makes me tear up every time.
By now I had stopped taking notes. I don’t know how to put it into words what the music was, the only way you can find out is by listening for yourself and it is the true beauty of ‘Abbey Road’ for me.
The melody here wasn’t just individual songs, it’s one masterplan, this had taken serious thought and critique to get a level this high. Nothing was like it at the time. No one could have made Abbey Road.
This isn’t a record you can put into a words, it’s an album which shows its true beauty through shared experiences and just going out and finding out yourself.
Having the melody end with ‘The End’ isn’t just an ending this is symbolic. ‘The End’ represents their last push, their last breath of energy. Everyone on this song gets a go at showing off their musical talent including Ringo playing a stunning drum solo.
The album technically ends with ‘Her Majesty’ a solo Paul song. This is a song that shows one more faint sign of life before the ending. The ending of the Beatles.
A true range of music on here it’s enough to make the number one Beatles hater gasp at least once and question his whole life. A lot of people can call this album overrated and they’ve heard the individual songs, but you can never mark an album by individual songs, you can only mark it as an album.
John really shone on this album as well. I’m not saying that he was outshone by Paul but I feel like he deserves more recognition for his contributions. Mainly for his vocals on ‘Come Together’ I feel that his style of singing could only really fit that song.
This was a band who were practically already apart, by now Ringo and George had both left separately. But this shows their loyalty to the band, they gave it their all one last time.
Overall, this was really the farewell of the Beatles for me. For obvious future reasons this where all four really gave it there all for the Beatles. They had everything put to the side and they focused on pure music. That’s why this is so special.
Did I Get A Good Deal?

‘based’londongreek while having all of that in his bio.
Another example of right-wingers using ‘based. This man is clearly in no WAY based. Being hateful has no place in society

How Are My Reviews As A 14Yr Old?
Hello!
I’ve been reviewing music for a decent while now over a year and I’ve posted all my reviews on AOTY. I won’t say my username unless asked for it as I don’t want to self-promote, I just want some honest feedback and how I could improve my reviews.
I recently reviewed my 105th album which is ‘Help!’ by the Beatles. After hitting album 100 I’ve wanted to review every Beatles album.
I just wanted to share my review of ‘Help!’ so please give me any feedback. I gave it a 96/100

“We were getting a little more sophisticated, and we were beginning to think about things a little more.” — George Harrison
That is a quote which I think perfectly summarises ‘Help!’.
As soon as the album kicks off you’re greeted by one of the most iconic Beatles songs and it’s the title track. Already you can see that this album is setting out to be more complex and intricate.
The layering on here is abnormally good especially on ‘You’re Going To Lose That Girl’ when you hear the bongos layered over Ringo’s drums.
You can see that George is becoming an amazing songwriter on his song ‘I Need You’ which has been his best performance on a Beatles album so far in my opinion.
‘Help!’ is not short of emotional songs with it having ‘Ticket To Ride’ and of course ‘Yesterday’. The latter is one of the most well known songs in human history, it has inspired so many and Paul is outstanding on it. The way he plays just fits beautifully with his voice.
‘Help!’ isn’t just another Beatles album, this is where you can see the shift. This is them proving they’re not just another band. They are proving they are The Beatles.
‘A Hard Days Night’ was an amazing ‘early’ Beatles album but ‘Help!’ is showcasing these four lads breaking out of their shell, this is showing them making their own music and becoming a timeless band.
I personally believe that the emotional depth on here is why it’s just a bit better than ‘A Hard Day’s Night’. Granted there’s two covers on here but at least they make sense for the album and the movie. There is rarely any parts you will feel yourself come away from the music. This is less an ‘album’ more an experience.
