What in your opinion is bad boss design?

To me, it’s excessive use of AoE. Being nuked over and over again isn’t just annoying, it feels like devs are cutting corners at our expense.

Bramis Castle Help

This is BY FAR the most frustrating area to navigate in all of souls and souls-like games. I will never ever complain about poison swamps and infuriating platforming.
This is harder than any boss fight I have ever done.
Does anyone have access to an actually helpful guide or a video, because I’m about to give this up.

What are you hoping for in LOTF2?

Myself, I hope the biggest challenge are the bosses and not trying to figure out the progression path after a boss fight.
Honestly, I am at the final stretch and really enjoyed the game, but I found that the major difficulty is figuring out where to go next, not how to beat a boss. That just seems wrong and frankly annoying.
I hope for a better experience when it comes to that.

Abiding Defenders Dual Boss

This is the first infuriatingly difficult boss for me. I’m considering respecing from my quality build.
I have the Loach eye socketed, I tried every recommended approach and these assholes are behaving like the Godskin Duo in Elden Ring. Absolutely annoying. I know it’s an optional boss, I’m just unpleasantly surprised by this sudden difficulty spike.
Wondering what worked for you?

This is a personal gripe about claims that this or that difficulty level was the “devs intended difficulty”. To this I say that everything that is in the game at any time is INTENDED to be there and that any way people choose to play it is the INTENDED way. Insinuating that if someone chooses to play a game (for which they spent their own money) in a way that is “not intended” (according to some nebulous “expertise”) just sounds elitist and frankly offensive and rude.

There are some really good soulslikes out there with great combat and level design, yet they can only come close but never achieve that special sense of place FromSoft games have.
What is that secret ingredient FromSoft adds to their games?
