The Supermodel emulator is running very slow.

I just downloaded the SuperModel emulator and installed Daytona USA 2 Power Edition, but the game is running extremely slowly. It’s smooth and the frame rate is good, but it feels like the game is in slow motion. The audio, on the other hand, seems normal. My PC has an Intel Core i5-3570 and 16 GB of DDR3 RAM. Is my computer too weak, or is there a way to increase the speed by tweaking some settings?

Tilemap/Sprite Viewer don't working in 2D games

I wanted to use MAME's feature that lets you view game sprites/tiles by pressing F4. However, among the games I tested, it only worked with 3D titles (like Namco System 21/22 and Sega Model 2). I tried doing this with Neo Geo games and other consoles emulated by MAME—such as the Intellivision and Master System—but for some reason, it gets stuck on the color palette; pressing Enter doesn't switch to the tiles. Does anyone know why this is happening and how I can fix it?

How do I run Sharp X1 games in MAME?

Hi, I want to play games for the Japanese Sharp X1 computer. I’d like to use MAME, since I already have it installed and am used to using it. I installed the BIOS (x1.zip) and placed it in the ROMs folder; I also created a subfolder named "x1" inside the ROMs folder for the games—specifically, floppy disk images in .d88 format. However, I don't know how to get MAME to recognize these games. I can access the BIOS, but when I select a floppy disk interface, it just keeps reading and nothing happens. I saw that I might need to use the command prompt, but I don't know how to do that. Can anyone help me?

Games don't working in Jzintv

I was trying to play Intellivision games on the JzIntv emulator; I had the ROMs in .int format, and the exec and grom files in that format as well. It seemed to work—the emulator didn't throw any errors and the games appeared to launch—but most of them either got stuck on a dark screen that flickered occasionally, or, in the case of Pole Position, had glitched graphics. I also tested Dig Dug and Microsurgeon; Sega's Zaxxon was the only game that actually worked. Does anyone know how to fix this?

How to make the pixels sharper in the BlueMSX emulator?

I recently downloaded the BlueMSX emulator and wanted to run it in full-screen mode. I’m not interested in image filters or anything like that—I like the pixelated look—but I don't know how to achieve that in this emulator. I set the emulation and monitor options to "None" and increased the full-screen resolution to 1400x1050 (a higher resolution that maintains the 4:3 aspect ratio), but it still doesn't look the way I want. It seems like there’s some kind of bilinear filtering going on; how do I turn that off? There’s also a black overscan border that I don't know how to remove. I know the Ares emulator isn't the most accurate, but at least it displays the image that way by default.

I can't complete the Forzathon challenge

A Forzathon challenge appeared requiring me to complete a race at the Hockenheimring circuit in a German car to earn the Dodge Dart GT Forza Edition. The challenge only specifies completing the race, so winning isn't mandatory. I raced using the BMW #55 BMW Team RLL Z4 GTE, the Mercedes-Benz #63 Sauber-Mercedes C9, and the 2016 Audi R8 V10—running a one-lap race—but for some reason, nothing worked. Could this be a bug?

I can't record the screen with the Xbox Game Bar on the EightyOne emulator

I wanted to record ZX81 and ZX Spectrum games in the EightyOne emulator using Xbox Game Bar (Windows+Alt+R), but for some reason, the recording won't start. And this only happens with this emulator; MAME, Ares, and Mednafen work perfectly.

Why is Air Combat running slower in the new version of MAME?

I had previously downloaded MAME 0.283, and some Namco System 21 games had an issue where sprites appeared behind 3D elements; *Air Combat* was the worst case, as it made the game almost unplayable. I saw that the issue had been fixed, so I downloaded the latest version. However, the game is now running a bit slower and stuttering—it used to run at 90% speed, but now it's around 70%. Why is this happening?

Would the Motorola 68EC020 have been a good choice for the Saturn?

The Motorola 68EC020 was a low-cost version of the 68020 featuring a 24-bit address bus—like the original 68000—instead of a 32-bit one, limiting memory access to 16 MB. However, since only sixth-generation consoles would reach that amount of memory, this wouldn't have been an issue for the Saturn.

It was an inexpensive yet highly capable CPU; Namco used it in the System 22—the arcade board powering Ridge Racer and Air Combat 22—which rivaled Sega's Model 2.

The 68000 architecture was widely popular, used in the Macintosh, Amiga, Atari ST and Falcon; the Mega Drive/Genesis and other Sega arcade boards also utilized the Motorola 68000, so developing and porting software for the Saturn would have been easy.

The only caveat is that it likely wouldn't be quite as powerful as a single Hitachi SH2, but I think what I mentioned could have made up for that.

The Xbox Dev Mode app download don't start

I'm trying to download the Xbox Dev Mode app on my Xbox One S, but it stays stuck in the queue indefinitely; when I select it, "error 0x8024001e" appears, even though I've seen that this error usually affects PC users. What could be causing this? How do I fix it?

Why NTSC TVs couldn't show more than 224 pixels vertically?

One thing I notice about older video games (especially from the 8-bit to 16-bit generation)is that a game or console might have a slightly different resolution depending on the region: games in PAL countries had vertical resolutions of up to 240 pixels, whereas in NTSC regions, it was 224. On the NES itself, there was a so-called "safe area" for developers to place graphics, which ended right at that limit.

I'm not sure if this is the right sub to ask about this, but why did that happen? And did the same thing happen with 480p? In NTSC, would that limit be 448 pixels?

How do I solve this problem?

I wanted to do oscilloscope deconstructions of chiptune music in a program called "SidWizPlus" (like this video) . This program depends on FFmpeg and FFplay to work, but an error message appears every time I try to render a video, saying "Expected number for y but not found: -hide_banner Failed to set value '-hide_banner' for option 'y': invalid argument".

How do I solve this problem?

SidWizPlus don't playing the music

I enjoy vintage hardware and recently discovered the oscilloscope deconstruction community. I don't want to make videos of it, but I still wish I could do my own deconstructions. I downloaded a software called "SidWizPlus" that some of these content creators use, and I'm having trouble getting it to work. I've already downloaded the main program, the GUI, and the multidumper. I can already see the waves, but they don't form a video and there's no sound at all.
What else do I have to do?

Ace Driver: Racing Evolution bizarre glitch

I was playing the game Ace Driver: Racing Evolution on MAME, and I was typing in my initials when suddenly almost all the textures turned white, but when the race started, they went back to normal.

Secret car in Ace Driver: Victory Lap

Recently, Ace Driver Arcade Archives was released, and in it, a trick was discovered that allowed you to race with the "C-Cars," cars that are only controlled by the game's AI.

On the "Cutting Room Floor" website, on the Ace Driver: Victory Lap page, there was a question about whether this trick worked in that game. I tested it, and it worked!

You need to hold brake when coining up (or stepping on the gas pedal to start if set to free play), then hold the gear shifter up or down after selecting the racing class until the lights are out and the racers are set to go.
