This image shows Opaspong's Project 3 - Northeast. The warp thread is dyed with Japanese synthetic indigo, while the thread of the thread is dyed with Thai natural indigo.

This is a photo of Opaspong’s Project 3 – The Northeast.

The warp yarn is dyed with Japanese synthetic indigo, while the weft yarn is dyed with Thai natural indigo.

We use slubby yarns combined with an ikat-style resist-dyeing technique, creating beautiful depth and variation in the yarn, with shades of indigo alternating with white.

It shows the film, thanks to the kindness of Pigerworks, what it looks like to work on natural indigo staining.

I wanted to show you, with the permission of the founder of Pigerworks, what color staining and capturing by Selvedge looks like in stages

These are the different shades created by each dyeing stage. The one on the far right was hand-dyed 25 times.

This photo shows the different shades of AWA Natural Indigo created through repeated hand-dyeing.

From left to right: undyed yarn, followed by 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13, 15, 17, 20, and 25 dyeing cycles.

With each additional cycle, the indigo gradually becomes deeper and richer. The yarn on the far right has been hand-dyed 25 times, resulting in an exceptionally deep natural indigo shade.

Here’s a behind-the-scenes look at the making of The Masterpiece.

The warp yarn is hand-dyed with AWA Natural Indigo, considered one of Japan’s finest indigos, in Tokushima, Japan. The yarns are dyed in alternating batches of 25 dips and 20 dips.

The weft yarn is hand-dyed in three primary-color shades, using natural dyes from Thailand, before being sent to Japan for weaving.

Every dye used in this project is 100% natural, and every yarn is dyed entirely by hand.
