Admittedly, the butter has been in the fridge unused for a while. But that's the only spot. I know mold can penetrate deeper than is visible, but would it go all the way to the other end without any more being visible? I just need a tablespoon 😢
I had started this doll several weeks ago, then ended up taking a break. This part is not in pattern, I improvised because I didn't not like the look of the pattern's closure. This is knit flat and sewn together, the seam right at the front at the beginning.
I can't tell if I only did k2tog with purls in between rows, or also did p2tog, or something else. I can't even tell if i ended with closing 4 stitches or 7, or if I did something in between. I'd probably be confused even with a good yarn, but this shitty yarn makes it even harder to see, I don't know if anyone can discern the stitches well. Everything I try keeps leaving holes or looking ugly. This yarn doesn't unravel well, so I have to either keep ripping parts of the yarn or cutting it off and restarting.
Can anyone tell what I did?

I'm looking for a shower mat for grip that won't mold so quickly. I currently have a wooden slat one and it's bad for all sorts of reasons.
I grew up with a bathtub that had some slight texture so I never had to worry about mats and slipping. My shower is super slippery and also I generally just find the shower floor gross (irrational) so I need something to stand on. Does anyone have a mat that has very minimal suction cups (like just four corners) and stuff like that that accumulates moisture?
I'm looking for a free curriculum to follow for kindergarten (or even preschool) age for music. I'm thinking mostly rhythm and a little bit of piano? I just don't know where to start and how to make sure I'm building things up appropriately. I haven't really played music since I was a kid. Is there something out there that's easy to follow?
Sorry if this is a dumb question. My niece and nephew (preschoolers) got little watercolour palettes but don't have watercolour paper, just a sketch pad or printer paper. Are there some nice little things to paint that work without watercolour paper/don't require wet paper? It seems like most fun and easy things need wet paper, but I don't know a lot. So far they've just tried essentially drawing and then get disappointed when it doesn't look good. Hopefully you get what I'm talking about.
I'm well aware it likely won't work, but not too long ago I saw a short video (probably youtube short, but maybe somewhere else) where a woman was saying it helps to stretch your neck a certain way and then pinch/massage part of your neck, and people were commenting that it helps.
I'm not a regular migraine sufferer but I have one coming on so I thought I'd try but I can't remember exactly how it goes.
I got an Aura One secondhand and I'm trying to give it a clean. I'm seeing a fair bit of stuff in the side seams and want to know the best way to go about cleaning it. I don't want to damage anything but I do want it clean. So far I've just done a little alcohol wipe over my fingernail along the edge. Would a toothpick or needle be a bad idea? And actually is it dirt or could it possibly be glue? Thanks for any help.

As the title says, I made a beginner decodable version of The Little Red Hen for my kids to read. Our summer reading program has "read a fairy tale or fable" as one of the challenges. For little kids the challenges are mostly to be read to, but I like to try and find things that my little beginning reader can read. But of course, all those "early reader" stories are not decodable, or you might find one at a higher decodable level. I did find one decodable story but it still included some sight words I didn't want to introduce yet, while also being very disjointed and incomplete. So I made my own version. I took the pictures and rewrote the words, so I will just be sharing the words. I ended up using a few pictures/symbols in place of words to avoid "story words" while making sure the story didn't get too disjointed.
Phonics skills needed: consonant blends, -s making the /z/ sound

The Red Hen
A red hen has 3 pals: a cat, a dog, and a pig. (You can change it to rat or duck to match other pictures.)

It's by no means perfect. "Mills at the mill" sounds funny but there are no other words that fit for her level. And no picture of dough since they aren't very obvious. The overall illustration shows mixing in a bowl though.
I know it's the end of kindergarten for most here and kindergarten reading is not consistent everywhere, but this could be just right for someone and I wasn't sure of a more appropriate place to share this.

I've seen posts with lists of summer reading incentive programs for the US (like the Pizza Hut Book It program), and I'm always a little sad that there doesn't seem to be the same kind of thing in Canada, as far as I've seen. I'm hoping I've just missed them, so I'm putting out a call for people to share any that they know of! Of course I know libraries usually have one, which is great, I'm just looking for others if they exist.
We were fishing at a lake in the Lower Mainland, BC (Canada) and saw this tadpole floating at the top, nearly dead. The white didn't seem to come off, though I don't recall trying to scrape it off. Is it some fungal thing? Was it the reason it was dying? Or is it something else? It kind of looks like it got pooped on by a bird after it started floating on the surface, though I would think that bird poop would wash off and come off pretty easily.
I'm making a crochet guinea pig with this cheap dollar store yarn that looks vaguely agouti. I'm stuck on the ears and feet though. I know a lot of people do ears with the same body yarn, but it was looking too big and thick to me, even when I tried to get more of a wavy shape rather than a round bear ear shape, and well guinea pigs aren't furry like the rest of them. I have this other thin brown yarn, which I can adjust the shape of better and get thinner ears (final shape not pictured, that was just the foot prototype tacked onto the head to see what it might look like). The thinner brown might look more like thinner guinea pig ears, though it's not quite the right colour. And I wasn't liking the little blobby stumps for feet so I thought maybe I could use the thinner yarn to make proper feet with toes, though again the colour isn't quite right.
I'm wondering what guinea pig people's thoughts are! Fuzzy matching ears with little stump feet? Fuzzy ears but thin yarn for defined toes? Thin yarn for ears and toes? I wish I had darker thin yarn but I'm not going out to buy yarn just for this.
Another alternative could be felt ears but I'm not sure I can attach them nicely and I don't think they'd make good feet so I'd still wonder about those.
These ears are just little tests and placeholders, I'm still figuring out the shape.
I'm not sure what the best colour/yarn is for this guinea pig I'm making. I feel like the one from chenille yarn matching the body is just too big, the thin brown one isn't quite the right shade, and the pink one isn't very accurate to what guinea pigs of that colour look like. I'm also thinking about the feet as well. I planned to do the feet with the thin brown yarn so I could make toes rather than just blobby stump. Now I'm second guessing myself. I did the nose/mouth with black because the brown just didn't work out well, it was getting lost.
So what do people (particularly guinea pig owners) think?
So I just discovered a bunch of ants downstairs and spent a while squishing and flushing them all. Right now I've got Terro bait, which I'm reading isn't the best, but I got it for the garden outside at the end of last summer when they were farming aphids on my carrots and I assumed they were living in the wooden garden bed. I just put another one out in the garden the other day because I saw an ant carrying away one of my carrot seeds. I think they're likely carpenter ants, but could be wrong. I saw a winged queen last year in the garden that someone identified as a carpenter ant queen.
I don't believe there has been an ant problem in the house before, but I'll confirm later. This is my mom's house so she makes the decisions but I can offer suggestions.
For bait, is it better to just put it down where you saw ants or put it somewhere away from your house to lure them away or something? Kind of like how beer traps catch way more slugs in your garden than there were to begin with.
And is there any sort of barrier that ants won't cross? I know there's diatomaceous earth but that just kills them after they've touched it, and they don't have any sort of aversion to it, right?

I've knit most of a sweater for a plush. The original intent was to make long sleeves, but seeing it now I'm kind of digging the short sleeved look. I just don't know how to finish short sleeves like this. Being a beginner, I have no idea what would look good though. I don't really want them getting much longer, but they currently aren't even attached at the bottom, so I assume I'll need to knit at least another row or two. I don't know what would look good on this smaller scale, so I come to you for recommendations. Thanks!
I haven't crocheted in a very long time and I'm just getting into it again. This is the beginning of a snake. It says chain 2, and then sc 6 into the first chain. It doesn't look very good with the right side out though. I already made another one the other day and it didn't have the same problem (or it was much less obvious). The kids have made that one disappear though so I can't take a look right now to compare. I'm quite sure the hole was smaller though. Is this normal or have a done something wrong, and how do I prevent it?

Most examples I find are either not obvious enough for young kids, not appropriate for young kids, or are just general "fix it" passages that aren't exactly what I'm looking for. I know there's a love letter paragraph, but I know some people find it a little inappropriate for kids with innuendo.
