I was going to add fingering tape until i sort of get the hang of things. I was going to place them at first finger, second finger (high) and third finger.
My question: How do I locate/place the tapes? That is, how do I know that the tape is at second finger high vs. "Second Finger too high" or "Second finger not high enough"?
Is this done by sound or can I simply grab a measure?

I took it to a proper luthier. His first comment was, "That's old and it has been played a lot."
He described it as follows: "A Bohemian workshop violin of good quality."
It was most likely built in the first half of the 1800s in the Bohemian/Central European violin-making tradition. It is unlabeled (as far as he can tell) so he can't attribute it to a particular maker or country. If he learns more through the restoration process, he will obviously share the information.
The luthier will charge me $700 to replace the strings, bridge, tailgut/tailcord, and repair a separating seam. He recommended not restoring the bow at this time. His words, "When you play professionally like your grandfather, come back and see me. For now, just buy a good quality, modern horsehair bow and save $300."
All in, I it will be about $800. I will post another update in 3-4 weeks when it is returned to me.

My grandfather was a professional musician from roughly 1918 to 1968 in the Northeast. I'm not sure what i have. I'm not sure if it's playable. I'm not sure if it's with returning it to a safe playable condition. Thoughts? No label inside.
It sort of made my day. It took three Dunks for me to figure out what was going on, but I got the joke. It reminded me of Mark Parenteau from WBCN back in the day with "Cop / No Cop"
My child is a fan of ShakeShack and Five Guys. I regularly insist there are far better options both from a burger perspective (ShakeShack) and a fries (Five Guys).

I picked up a bike with TyreWiz 2.0 installed. However, it did not come with all its bits (i.e. - the TyreWiz Sealant Injection Sleeve).
I have watched a few videos on replacing sealant but I am not quite sure what this sleeve does. I need to add sealant to a newly installed tire and I would normally just pull the valve core and fill with sealant using the Park TSI-1.
Why can I simply not use the fine tipped tube to feed past the sensor and into the tire. What am I not understanding?

I was excited to log into Full View to see that I had hit my retirement number. It was a huge jump since my last look.
As i dug deeper, i noticed that my mortgage was not registering in the net worth calculation.
The account shows as a liability (with a positive number) and it is messing with Net Worth calculations.

I recently moved from a Yeti ARC HT (130mm travel) to an Epic 8 with 120mm front/rear. For the life of me, I cannot keep the front wheel down when climbing up short/steep/punchy climbs.
Never an issue with the Yeti, but I am struggling with the Epic. Any technique recommendations?

I recently accepted a job that requiring me to travel to Phoenix one week each month. I have traveled there for work previously, but usually only about once a year. I typically rent an MTB from a local shop to ride the trails.
Paying around $250 once a year for a rental is not unreasonable. Doing that 12 times a year adds up quickly. I’m thinking it may make more sense to ship one of my older MTBs out there and store it locally along with my helmet, shoes, and other gear.
Any recommendations? I have friends in the area, but I would rather not impose on them by asking them to store my equipment.
