PSA: Mumford Walmarts Coolers are Broken

Don’t waste your time and stay home in the A/C folks, most of the stock in coolers is cleared out. No meat products or anything else in this end of the store. Produce coolers still seem to be still functioning. Dairy coolers at the other end are still good.

Best idioms for hot weather

In light of it now officially being hot as balls, how about an idiom competition to take the edge off?

What are your favourite expressions/idioms for describing a smoking hot day?

I’ll go first!

What to call your biological parents vs your adoptive parents?

Hey y’all, first time poster here. I’m in my late 20’s now, but was adopted when I was an infant.

I’ve recently come in contact with my birth mother and we are working on setting up a time to meet.

The whole situation is overwhelming for me, and I have a bazillion thoughts racing through my head already, but for now I’ll just keep it simple.

For starters, how do you guys address your birth parents? For me, my “mom and dad” are my adoptive parents, the wonderful people who made sacrifices to raise me like their own, did an incredible job that I am eternally grateful for, and are all that I’ve ever known.

I know that my birth mother is also my “mother”, but I’ve only ever referred to her by her first name. So I’m basically wondering how I should address her in person? Call her by her name, or Mom? I don’t want to offend her by calling her by her first name, but calling her Mom almost feels a little disrespectful to my adoptive Mom. Maybe I’m just being weird about that thought though.

Any other advice or comments are appreciated. I’m honestly pretty nervous for this and I know it’s probably going to be a little bit awkward, but I’m trying to put my thoughts to the side, because I want to do this for her.

Thanks everyone

Pothole damage compensation success story!

Back in May I smoked that massive 7” deep pothole in the intersection of Queen/South. My tire blew out on impact, and my rim was scuffed but luckily not bent.

I wasn’t even going to bother calling 311 to file a damage claim because I always heard people say to not bother wasting your time as the city would likely weasel out of it anyway, but I’m glad I took the 10 mins to call and open a claim!

Just heard back that they’ll be compensating me for the costs, so that’s $500 back in my pocket for the one tire! It was still a hassle and an inconvenience to buy and mount my tire, but I’ll take what I can get! I think they’re also going to cover the alignment I had to get done as a result of the pothole.

So, to the other victims of potholes, it might be worth a call to 311 if you have photos of the damage, exact location of the pothole, and any receipts/invoices from the repairs you had to pay for.

Goodluck!

PSA : LONE STAR TICKS ARE HERE

That’s right folks, pulled one off my leg last night near Fall River. Undoubtably was a male lone star, indicated by its red/orange color, but no white dot that the females have.

Luckily, I wasn’t bit, but it’s a sad day for fellow red-meat lovers as we now have to fear the worst…the possibility of no more ribeyes or Baconators if we get bit.

Unfortunately I didn’t take a picture before I sent him to the afterlife.

Escalator Etiquette

This isn’t a big deal at all, just something I’ve noticed and am curious to hear other people’s thoughts on. Not trying to be miserably pedantic here lol.

We don’t even have that many escalators around, and the ones we do have are all relatively short, so it’s hardly a pressing issue.

That said, has anyone else noticed that most people here seem to just stand in the middle of escalators without moving and blocking everybody behind them?

In pretty much every major city I’ve visited, there’s an unwritten rule / common courtesy for escalators: if you’re standing still, you stay to the right so people in a hurry can walk past on the left.

In London for example, people will let you know very quickly if you’re blocking the way. Sometimes quite forcefully with a shove, usually accompanied by a few choice words. 😂 (“Move out of the bloody way, you ******* donut!”)

To be fair, the escalators there are much longer than anything we have around here and often run deep underground in subway systems, so continuing to walk can actually save a noticeable amount of time. Montreal and Toronto are similar in that regard.
Our escalators, on the other hand, are short and sweet, which is probably why I’ve never really heard anyone bring this up before.

Just wondering if anyone else has noticed this, or if it’s simply not a thing here.

What do you think my bf% is? 200 lbs 6’3”

idk how to flex my back lol.

First 6 pics are today, last pic is 16 weeks ago back in February.

Getting a dexascan soon but curious what you guys think my bf% is first!

Cut about 24lbs since September, just a slow moderate cut/recomp.

Does my chest look very underdeveloped to the rest of my upper body? I think my chest strength is solid, I recently took the 100lb DBs for a ride on flat bench. My traps are definitely underdeveloped.

Thanks

Sorry that it looks like I took this pics on a potato.

First 6 pics are today, the 7th is from 16 weeks ago back in February.

Down ~24 pounds since September 2025, just a moderately skow recomp.

I’m getting a Dexascan done soon, but I’m curious what you think in the meantime and I’ll come back with the answer

Excessive amount of semen

Not trolling, genuinely curious. 26M.

I always just thought it was normal, but in the last couple years all of my sexual partners have said the same thing, that I have huge loads lol.

I don’t particularly have a problem with it, and they don’t either, it just makes a bit of mess sometimes.
I’d say on average it’s about 30ml give or take 10.

I’m getting mixed info from Google, so I’m basically wondering is this anything of concern? Does in indicate anything? What causes or contributes to it?

Even going multiple rounds in a day, the volume of it barely diminishes.

Sorry if that’s TMI!
TIA

Am I coming over the top?

Trying to get rid of this fade that turns into a slice for my miss.

Am I coming to over the top? I’m really trying to focus on bringing my hands down into the slot before coming through but I’m guessing I’m not doing it well enough.

Anything else you see here that I should change?

I keep my backswing pretty short intentionally as it helps me stay control.

I’m also noticing that I’m standing up pretty straight. Should I add more knee bend or lean over the ball more? Or both?

Acceptable tread difference?

Hit a nasty pothole and had to replace one of my front tires. I know it’s better to replace them in pairs, but money is tight right now so I’m hoping to get away with just the one new one.

Does this difference in tread depth look harmful to the car/dangerous to drive on? They’re Pirelli tires, the older one is around 6/32, and I think the new one comes with 9/32.

AWD haldex system if that adds any context.

South street / Queen Street intersection

Heads up folks, absolute crater of a pothole going westbound on south street in the middle of the south and queen street intersection. Can’t see it coming over the blind crest.

Blew out my tire and bent my rim, has anybody had any luck with the vehicle damage claims through 311/the city or should I not even bother wasting my time?

26M. In the past couple months I’ve started to notice the front really start thinning. I’ve already told myself that I’m content with taking the plunge and going bald when it starts getting out of hand, but I know I’m not nearly at that point yet.

Is this about the time I should start looking into fin/min? When I wash my hair in the shower, i probably have ~30-50 hairs on my hands after.

I’m a Canuck so this might explain it, but Anaheim is the one major city that I know nothing and hear the absolute least about. Nobody I know is from there, or has travelled there. If it weren’t for their hockey team, I don’t know even think I would know where it is.

So, how is it living there? How does it compare to the other cities in California? Is there a reason I don’t know anything about it or is that just a fluke?

Has anybody had any luck using certain defences against pigeons? They have completely taken over my balcony downtown in the last few weeks, and covered it in shit to the point that it’s a bio-hazard and I can’t even use the space or barbecue.

My plan is to give it a good clean and then set up some humane defences that will hopefully keep them away.

Getting a net/screen put up is out of the realm of possibilities here.

I’m hoping a decoy owl will do the trick, and there is already bird spikes out there but they literally just stand on them lol.

Cheers
