Dad refuses to get h pylori treatment at an advanced age

I have no idea what to do, my dad (69) definitely has H pylori(my whole family had it. We all got rid of it except for him), and the chronic cough that comes with it. He also has no appetite and neurological symptoms for sure.

I’ve been trying to get him to go get checked since march, and he gets angry and refuses. His cough is getting worse and he is getting thinner and thinner. I’m convinced he must have stomach cancer by now, because he can’t eat spicy foods which is his favorite all his life until recently.

I’m just so frustrated he is actively choosing death over seeing a doctor or getting treatment for something so easily treatable. No one in my family wants or does anything to help, and just succumb to his stubbornness.

It’s so difficult just watch a family member choosing death because it’s easier than dealing with the problem. I swear I’m about to cut everyone off because they are all enabling eachother to be the worst version of themselves.

Pregnant after H Pylori Clear Up (FSH levels 27-32)

I’m beyond excited, in a day I’ll be on my 12th week of pregnancy, and 7 days away from finishing up the first trimester!

This was such a crazy pregnancy. We’ve been trying for almost 5 years, after well timed sex, Clomid, IvF, egg donor…. I’ve became extremely ill. Lost control of my right hand (neurological symptoms), had no appetite, always tired and sick. I’ve finally decided to test for this thing called H Pylori. Test came out positive, and did the hellish treatment for two weeks. Afterwards, I’ve lived my life as usual for two months - then waited for my period - to start transfer my IvF egg donor embryos.

That period never came. I was feeling extremely ill again and was convinced I’ve got something else(perhaps Lyme disease?). I wasn’t concerned about missing my period because IvF clinic said my FSH levels were perimenopausal/post menopausal, so I expected to miss periods here and there. My husband suggests taking a pregnancy test because I kept throwing up, and I immediately dismissed it. Thinking that would be absolutely impossible.

However my boobs kept growing bigger and bigger, suddenly I started to believe him(“oh you don’t listen to me, but listen to your boobs. That’s interesting.” -husband). Took about 10 pregnancy tests, they all came out positive. Took a blood test, and I was extremely pregnant (about 6-7 weeks at that point).

We’ve been keeping this secret (but kind of difficult when my breasts doubled in size, and I throw up all the time). I’m so excited to be able to talk about this in real life and let people know about this miracle!!!

The only thing that bums me out is that other women who suffer from infertility and have H pylori may not know that they are intertwined. This is an understudied subject, and fertility clinics don’t test you for this, even though H Pylori infects almost HALF the world’s population.

When you Google “H Pylori and infertility” several scientific articles are available, but no where near enough! Apparently the antibodies end up in the ovaries, and hinder fertility. Someone needs to do a PhD thesis on this, and make this public knowledge! I wish someone told me about this years ago, and spare me years of grief, humiliation, depression, etc.

Is this story full of embarrassing details I wouldn’t share with people I know in real life? Yes. Do I want to share this story publicly? Not really, but, if this helps other women achieve their goals, I don’t care. I hope a someone who needs this information reads this, and they seek treatment immediately.

Oh, H Pylori can also cause miscarriages, is scientifically linked to Hyperemesis Gravidarum, and other difficulties in pregnancy. So if you suffer from any of those, you might have H Pylori.

Genlisea Subuglabra

I swear I thought it was misspelled the first time I read it. Sounds like someone drunkly trying to say “Subulata,” but no this is the real spelling.

My favorite Genlisea at the moment 💕

My IVF journey finally ended in a miraculous way!

After 4-5 years of trying with fsh levels at 27 which is post menopausal, and one working ovary. I’ve only found success after clearing my body of H Pylori.

H Pylori infects almost HALF the human population. It affects fertility GREATLY, and is incredibly understudied(imo). Your body produces anti-bodies for H Pylori and they are found in the ovaries which messes with fertility.

Some people don’t show any signs of having it for most of their lives, until you are older and the bacterial already did a number on your body.

If you are having trouble conceiving, please go get a quick breath test for H pylori or the much more accurate stool test. It may change your life.

Go get tested for H pylori

I don’t know who needs to hear this, but if you are suffering from unexplained infertility, you NEED to get tested for H pylori.

I was infertile for 4-5 years, and gave up all hope on regular IVF. Was going egg donation route because my numbers were “post menopausal.”

As soon as I cleared up my H pylori, which I’ve had my entire life apparently, I randomly got pregnant. Now I no longer need ivf or the donor egg embryos.

I don’t want to share my story at all, but after reading about how H pylori makes our body create anti-bodies, and they end up in the ovaries, which disrupts fertility. I started thinking about the other women in the same situation.

If this helps even one person, then sharing this story is worth it. Keep advocating and educating yourself!

Infertility solved via H Pylori Clear-up

I don’t know who needs to hear this, but I was infertile for 4-5 years and sought out all sorts of treatment. Several doctors said it would never happen for me based on my numbers and physical reaction to drugs they’ve given me.

So they’ve set me up with egg donation, but I kept getting ill. My old doctor dismissed the idea of h pylori, and refused to test me for some reason, so I’ve saw a new one who did test me. Turns out I do have it, and treatment was extremely difficult (thank god this sub exists, because some of the suggestions were essential for me).

After treatment I got pregnant naturally, by accident! I’ve been reading about the correlation between H pylori and fertility. It seems like an extremely understudied subject matter. Apparently antibodies for H Pylori can end up in your ovaries and perhaps hinder fertility? Especially if you’ve had it for a long time like I have. I think I’ve had it since childhood, I was born outside of the USA, and likely picked it up in my birth country. This strain that I have doesn’t seem to transfer to people of other races(a theory my partner’s doctor suggested), as no one else around me tested positive.

Anyway, if you are having fertility issues, resolving your h pylori may save you a lot of IVF money.

Just Two Hybrid Ladies Chillin’

U. Nelumbifolia x Cornigera hybrid (wears too much eyeliner) kicking it with “Valyrian Wedding” (red flowered U. Campbelliana x Asplundii clones).

I’ve crossed them several times (some times non-hybrids) but it never works lol. Even though both in sect. Orchioides, they might be too genetically different. Perhaps in the future - they will separate the sect into two different groups.

My friend called my babies “Butthole Cactus” now I can’t unsee it.

They do look like the butthole of a dinosaur or alien (if they have buttholes).

I’ve recently been given a bunch of williamsii babies, and they live on a windowsill next to a table where my rabbit likes to sit and look at the street like a cat. There’s usually a strong barrier between them, but last night I took it off so I can do some work on the table. Forgot to put it back and noticed a chunk is missing from one of the peyotes this morning!

The rabbit seems fine, she was just very anti-social last night and went to bed early without snuggling with me. We have an appointment with a vet in a few days. I’ll ask about my fur baby then.

But on to my green baby, is it going to be ok? I’ve sanitized the wound, but it looks dried already. There are deep teeth marks that I’ve just sanitized and left alone. Should I cut into them to clean it? I’m an experienced plant parent, but a cactus noob.
