Will never understand this particular way of thinking.

We have all seen it. People saying they won't get one pet because they could ruin furniture and other things, but then proceed to get a dog that does exactly that except it ruins a whole lot more due to anxiety or boredom or just cause it's an asshole. Except now people will excuse it away and then try and manipulate and gaslight you for caring more about material items instead of the dog, if you say anything negative about it. I don't understand the disconnect people have regarding this.
