Have y’all heard about this?

Did anyone else need a minute to get used to the new vocalist? greyhawk are my favourite power metal band and I really didn’t like the new singer at first, but I have to say he is growing on me. The new album is a total banger as I have now discovered.

Hi there! Can anyone recommend me some good sci-fi space opera book series? I read the expanse and loved it. I’ve read dune 1 and liked it, though I prefer easy going reading and not quite so much politics. I really liked the Hyperion series too. The foundation was too much politics and was a chore to finish. The long way to a small, angry planet was pretty entertaining, A big shop at the edge of the universe is what I’m currently reading but the whole magic thing is a bit irritating- I just imagine that instead of magic the people have advanced neural expansion hacks.

Anyway hope I can get some good recommendations from y’all

Can somebody please explain to me why active electronics are necessary on a bass guitar?
I get what it does. It’s a preamp with tone controls. But that exists in the preamp pedal or the amp already.
Does playing an active bass essentially stack preamps into each other? And how much tone control is too much? If I boost the mids on the amp, why would I need to boost them on the bass guitar as well…?

I just posted about lyrics that hit like a truck and the results were mostly depressing lines.

So what do you all do to flip your mood then? What lines elevate you and make you believe in yourself?

I play a short scale Cort action Junior, and I really love it. I’ve never owned or played a full scale bass.
It’s comfortable to play. It’s super lightweight. It’s fun to play. I even tuned it down to D standard, and with a drive pedal in front of the amp, it sounds awesome for my mid forward driven style.

What short scale bass do you play and why do you love it?
Do you know of any bands except the Beatles where the bassist plays a short scale?
Why do you think not many bassists play a short scale?

Help me out here - ive never been able to enjoy modern metalcore (bands like Allt, Erra, Bad Omens, Fit for a King etc). I think it’s the guitars-as-low-tuned-wall-of-noise and the pop chorus vibes that bother me.
But I totally vibe with currents.
What other bands can I check out?

I just watched Furiosa for the first time and then rewatched Fury Road - got me wondering if there are any bands using that dieselpunk post apocalyptic theme? Or mad max themed bands? That would be sick
