Free drink tickets?

Or so I thought, (not that I'd use them anyway) but upon opening a letter from SWA today I found a booklet of 'Kick Tail' coupons that you can give to staff as an attaboy for a job well done, which is cool and all, but I wasn't aware of this program. Was I just not paying attention and they've been doing this all along? I've been A-List for a minute as they say ...

Delta 1509 into HOU go-arounds

Interesting go-round for DAL 1509 into HOU. On that first approach he's under 500 ft lined up with 22 before aborting. Thinking possible crosswind as there's some healthy gusts out of the SE currently. Not sure why they aren't bringing in traffic on 13R. There's a major rebuild planned for 13R-31L but that wasn't supposed to start until later this year. He landed on the next approach.

Easy DYI Bacon Wrapped Chicken

DIY lol...

Anyway ... Here's something I do quite often and it's cheaper than buying similar product already made up. And it's more fun because you do it yourself.

Buy a pack of chicken breast sliced very thin (1/8" - 1/4"). If it's more than a 1/4" thick you wont be able to roll it easily. They come six to a pack at our local HEB.

Take 2-3 fresh jalapenos, cut them in half longwise and clean them out, creating a boat. Stuff the jalapenos with jack cheese then roll the chicken breast around it.

Finally, take two strips of center cut bacon and wrap the chicken breast one at 90 degrees to the other to create a seal. Then toothpick together. Lightly season with black pepper and that's it. We make these up a dozen at a time and freeze them. Remove the toothpicks before grilling.

Grill over hot charcoal 10 minutes on each side. After pulling, rest for 5 then make your cuts about 1/4" thick and serve with vegetable side of your choice.

Was in Florida for the past week helping fight fires in the Everglades per the news report. This one flew over to Galveston yesterday from St. Augustine, presumably to stay south of that line of severe thunderstorms over the southern states yesterday. Today this one is heading north, first to Springfield MO, then tomorrow to Duluth MN per FlightAware. On to the next job. https://www.naplesnews.com/picture-gallery/news/local/florida/2026/05/02/super-scoopers-stage-in-naples-florida-to-fight-everglades-fire/89873838007/

Departed a few minutes ago. Govt. of Equatorial Guinea. No idea why it stopped in Houston. Maybe just for gas, maybe business.... edit: Just pulled this blurb from AI: "Houston is home to the Consulate General of Equatorial Guinea. Because of the strong oil and gas industry ties between Houston and the Central African nation, the consulate provides vital services for citizens, expats, and travelers, including visa processing and passport renewals." The Offshore Technology Conference is in Houston this week so there you go....

The site graphic shows this Hawk as a T-45 but I'm pretty sure RAVN only flies Mk-67's (old export versions for Korean air force restored for training purposes). Same lineage but different aircraft, right? Correct me if I'm wrong pls. FAA registry shows MK-67 but other sources indicate T-45 which is a modified variant. I saw it fly over and it appeared to be the same aircraft as in the photo (camo and red tail).

Will watch to see where it's headed this time. Climbing through 10k now...

UPDATE: 2 hrs later... doing some high altitude stuff off the coast of Mexico. Not sure what that's all about... maybe prep for Starship 12 launch surveillance? Wouldn't think they'd have to go that far south if that's what it is ...

UPDATE: 6 hrs later ... currently heading back to Ellington. About to cross the coast west of Freeport. It was a full day whatever they were doing down there....
