Hi all,

A fairly simple bathroom reno to replace 1980s tiles from the walls and early 2000s flooring after a toilet leak has now exploded into needing structural work due to joists being overnotched as well as a spiderweb of shims and homeowner specials over the last 100 years when the bathroom was first added to the house.

This is our only bathroom and so our expected 2 weeks out is now a month and the budget has tripled.

How do you prepare yourselves financially or psychologically for unexpected surprises? I'm trying to stay positive.

Inspired by another post! The excuse is often “they won’t remember it”.

But how many of us have these memories, these feelings that come up, these implicit tugs that tell us we were subjected to it? Do think it impacted your mental health or attachment?

J’aimerais connaître vos expériences avec les différents types de revêtement extérieur (vinyle, CanExel, fibrociment, bois, etc.).

J’ai une maison centenaire avec un vieux crépi des années 50 qui commence à se détériorer, et je vois beaucoup d’opinions contradictoires selon les matériaux.

Dans mon quartier, j’ai vu plusieurs maisons avec du CanExel qui semblait s’être engorgé d’eau et les planches s’effritaient, donc ça m’a un peu refroidi.

Pour ceux qui ont installé ou entretenu ces revêtements :

• Qu’est-ce qui a bien ou mal vieilli?
• Des regrets?
• Coûts d’entretien surprenants?
• Est-ce que les matériaux plus chers valent vraiment le coût?

Je suis rentré dans le McDo à Aylmer l'autre jour et il était pratiquement vide. Il y avait pas de station de sauce, de breuvages, à peine s'il y avait des sièges... Une seule caisse où on a attendu 5 minutes pour pouvoir utiliser notre coupon.

Est-il encore en rénovation ou c'est la nouvelle normalité de design des McDo pour empêcher qui que ce soit d'oser rentrer pour manger?
