Thrift scores! All half off!

Not nearly as active as I used to be (camera/darkroom, cinematography) but the minute I saw the shape of the camera I stopped dead in my tracks.

Grabbed everything you see. A Kodak tripod alone was worth it, the camera was unicorn.

I gush. I can't believe it. $75?

Was hoping for 120, 127 is still fine!

What is with the dot/dash blips using analog phone on modern line?

For reference I am using a StraightTalk wireless home base, and both a WE and AE rotary dial desk 5302 and a wall 354 through a pulse to TT adapter. There are artifacts in the line that sound like pulses, regular and consistently the same patterns.

I wonder if it is part of the wireless base to cell tower(s) connection?

Anyone know of this?

Look at the little ghost blob in a hat! I love that Katy brought her little ghoul-friend with her! A mini-she.

How tell if these are made for sugar use, double boiler use, etc.?

I have used the larger one many times for egg whites, and they whip quickly and hold their shape. However, I want to expand to using it for double boiler use for candies and cooked sugar use.

The small found I found today. Same questions.

1941 and 1955 respectively, testing dial speed because 'tism.

I found the Western Electric 302 (Left) last week, the 500 on the right was found a yew years back. Oiled the dial on the 302 and it nearly nearly nearly speed matches the 500. I established a new line for these dolls, and off we go. Pulse to touchtone box added the final touch, home phone returns.

Novice music teacher branching out into recording, what did I do to my first input? I8i8 issues with channel 1 instrument/mic.

I mostly fluctuate between my Macbook Pro (personal) and my Windows laptop (work), so I've not really isolated a specific workflow for using this device.

However, my Channel 1 with or without 48v has a loud hum. Did I blow a capacitor by driving too hot a signal and never realized it?

It is entirely possible. As I have learned how to use the school's mics (2 SM 81s), or just recording stuff on my own, anywhere from 60 year old RCA ceramic mics for tape decks, to modern, to transferring/digitizing analog tapes, vinyl transfers, etc., I may have blown out Channel 1 without realizing I ran too high voltage a signal in.

Yesterday's thrift finds- all less than $5.

I'm curious as to age, and durability since they are metal.

What other pieces/parts am I missing for these attachments?

What model is sturdy enough to power these?

I have a KA 3B, 3C, 4C and K5SS bowl lift.

Has anyone built a chassis bottom to top pre-amp/mixer console?

I'd like to build a small (which means it will look giant when done!) mixing console, maybe 5 dedicated channels. All point to point wiring, fan for cooling, mounted under a hinged work surface with clearance for all components to sit comfortably.

Also to function as a pre-amp stage for vinyl to tape, to daw, etc.

Knob pots for each channel gain; and, neon lamps for Normal and Overload at the output stage of the main mix, and probably Normal and Overload per channel?

So...

- - Signal - - Channel Input - - Gain - - Tone - - Mix - - Output? (Also a DAC stage)

Bare bones is that a signal chain?

Each stage could have multiple signal processing and filtering spots, and a Mute and Solo switch to monitor each channel, so it would select and isolate.

-- Just ideating--

I do not really make music as in compose and produce, but I teach band/orch, music theory and music production. So it would eventually become lecture and practical material for future projects for my students.

RCA 7 TR 3 reel to reel with brightly working Normal and Overload lamps.

Been fussing with this deck for a while.

The Normal and Overload lamps are very sensitive, so I am working out why my VTVM is messing with resetting the 1 vrms and 1.5 vrms for the lamps.

So, here it is flashing to Berlioz's Symphonie Fantastique during a record transfer to tape. Using the mixer (off camera) to check VU v neon lamp flashes.

To be fair I have the recording gain very hot on purpose.

Y'all! I have Samantha's Pyrex Caraffe!

Used it just this morning! Still have the box, the hotplate and cord! The box still has the divider between the hotplate and caraffe.

Trial and Error of Aunt Clara

At the end when Darrin walks back into the living room from the den, looking for Samantha and trying to clear up the wrong papers from the desk; Clara sees Darrin's reaction to the courtroom scene and waves her arms and makes it all disappear.

Samantha was Clara's defense attorney and couldn't prevent Clara from demonstrating her poor magical control, however, we are left wondering if Clara actually made everything return to normal because of Darrin and Samantha's relationship.

I can't handle not knowing if Clara actually did this correctly, or if instinct to protect Darrin and Samantha just made it work out.

When would the Ricardos buy a color television set?

The country house den set is black and white, the shape and fact that the tube is rectangle screams black and white.

1957 it would have been a color, round faced tube. And I'm sure it would have been something they would buy on time if they wanted it. Also given Ricky's career in entertainment...

Wouldn't Darrin and Samantha have a color tv?

In the first two seasons at least, I would have thought Darrin and Samantha's livingroom set would be color. RCA's first rectangle color tv came out in 1965. So I have assumed the (I think Magnavox or Zenith) would be black and white.

Darrin's job clearly pays well.

*I was wrong! It was Motorola with rectangle color

Ugh...I need to stop before it is too late. Need to delete a certain auction app.

At least now I can use the RCA tape I got lucky with.

I'm falling down a rabbit hole I only understand from inside a symphony orchestra.

Incoming 9th grader with proud parents, kids seems humble, I feel some kind of way.

Held first day of 9th grade auditions (HS full orch) and met student, nice kid, VERY proud parents with award certificates and grades/transcripts in hand to show to any school personnel. Asked to take photos with people, received thank you notes and giftcards, etc.

I smell trouble and a lot of pushy expectations. I refused photo, tried to engage as little as possible with parents. Kid handed me thank you card, I was in between escorting him out and next kid in.

While we are a magnet STEM program, it is a public Title I school.

I sense danger. This makes me feel some kind of way. Wish I could have refused card, should have.

*He's very respectful, took criticism and praise in stride, and is definitely teachable. So not a bad deal so far!

Didn't mean to sound so negative, just wary.
