This is our boy Boone we got recently. I was told he’s a Lab/Husky Coonhound mix. Was just wondering if you guys generally agree with that or think he looks like something else

Right up front, my dad’s shitbox Ford Windstar, basement tenant’s Mercury Sable, and my mom’s rotted out hog of a 2nd gen Ram with the 5.9 gasser.
Seeing this gives me such a nostalgic vibe and a sense of longing I can’t quite explain. I was probably inside playing Halo Reach.
He was 7. A sudden and aggressive inflammation of his disc disease left him unable to walk pretty much overnight, and gradually got worse.
He was such a character. Small dog with a huge personality and so many quirks. He was definitely a guard dog. Born during lock down so he didn’t socialize much as a pup. He liked his select few and that was it. He earned the nickname “Mean Dean” from our family because of how snippy he was with anyone outside of his bubble.
At home with us though, he was such a suck. If you were one of the lucky ones that gained his trust, he loved you like no other. I can say he was the most loyal friend we have ever known. We were nervous when we had our first child with his temperament, but he adored her. Let her smack him with stuffies and pull his ears and give him scritches, let her do the things babies do and he never cared. He always watched over her, he couldn’t go to bed until he looked in her bassinet and made sure she was there. And she was obsessed with him.
He was around for so many firsts in our life. Graduations, leaving home, buying our first house specifically with a fenced in backyard just for him, and watching us come home with a baby and being such a good family companion. I was always sure he would be around for her first day of Kindergarten, or even grade school. But here we are coming home without him the day she turned 11 months old.
She may not remember much of him, but we will make sure he’s never forgotten.
Rest easy, little buddy.
I hope I have a love that lasts as long as the 1st gen D-Series platform.
I’ve seen truckloads full of these things coming through town all day. The dealers are stocking up like crazy. I think the new D Series is about to be a biblical sales hit.
Heard of it being done before but had to try it myself. May or may not have rented a 2500 H-Series with the big motor, took it to an undisclosed location, and sent it back with a 4.8. Good thing these old GLDs bolt up like legos. I don’t think they’ll suspect a thing.
Union boilermaker here for context. We basically get dispatched out to calls then get laid off when the work is done and go back on the out of work list. I am a journeyman so I can refuse a call or stay unemployed for as long as I want, and I was planning on taking the summer off, but I never say no to a quick little moneymaker.
I just got a call from a rep asking if I could come and do a job for a couple days at a cement plant 6 hours away. It’s WELL outside of the range from my address where I would typically always qualify for LOA, but he said because of it’s proximity to the hall in that city they aren’t offering LOA (per diem). They will pay travel time there and back, but not for your room (like $150 a day.)
He said it’s the first time union boilermakers have been contracted to work there so they really want to be able to make a presence but I told him I can’t do it without the LOA. It just goes against my core beliefs. If I’m laying my head anywhere but my own bed for a job I should be compensated for the room I have to rent, and we typically are. I have never taken a job away from home without LOA and I’m not about to start.
I have had this exact situation happen before and a day or two later they call back and say they’re now offering LOA because they can’t get anyone. If that happened it would he a huge victory for us in my eyes. Just curious what everyone’s thoughts are on this.
For me one of my top picks in the LR3. Something so beautiful about it I can’t quite put my finger on. I like the Range Rovers of this era too, but something about the LR3 hits the sweet spot between luxurious and rugged. I really want to own one, maybe if I come across a nice one. I’ve seen quite a few high mileage ones out there and they actually seem like fairly solid rigs with the 4.4 V8.
