Do It Again

I can't stop listening to this song lately, I think maybe it's because me and my gf have a bunch of concerts planned and it's got me feeling like when I was young going to shows all the time.

But it's just so fucking great, like the opening drum beat, the rock and roll energy to it and all the harmonies and background vocals as well as his use of including studio talk into it.

And the hand claps!!!! They add so much to it, and the Brian style switch ups from upbeat rock and roll to slower style.

And I think putting the I Wanna Be Around noises at the end is fucking genius.

Salute to Good Timin Podcast

I really love this podcast, I think it gives a great perspective on things from fans and always an entertaining listen and I'm sad to hear there not doing the official podcast anymore as per the comment on there newest video.

But for all my Illinois fans, looks like he'll be at the St. Charles and Des Plaines shows so we should all chat with him there!!

Thank you Al for keeping it clean!

I wanna say how appreciative I am of Al and his music and his continuation of the Pet Sounds Band!

I think Al for years was very underappreciated by a lot of people and fans, and he's getting his due credit he's deserved.

I think him continuing with Brian's band is so wonderful and a sweet tribute to a guy we all know about and love in Brian Wilson.

I've only seen videos online and reviews, haven't gotten to a show yet (I'll be at the Des Plaines show with my gf!!!) but he seems to really be having so much fun on stage and you can tell the love he has for Brian.

I highly applaud him for still making music and and playing the deeper cuts the official Beach Boys don't play, also I'm pretty sure I read that Al is paying out of pocket and not even breaking even on these shows.

So to Al, keep on keeping it clean and show the whole world what one of the remaining Beach Boys can still do!!

I think 15 Big Ones is better than a lot of people say

I've been listening to 15 Big Ones quite a bit lately and I've been thinking about how in my opinion it's better than the reputation it's gotten.

I mean songs like It's OK, Had to Phone Ya, That Same Song, Susie Cincinnati, Back Home and Everyone's in Love with You are great in my opinion.

And I even like the covers like Palisades Park, Just Once in my Life, Talk to Me and Blueberry Hill.

Sure it's not Pet Sounds or Sunflower, but I really think if you look at this trying to have fun it's pretty good.

My favorites entry 4

For this one I wanna do Love You, this is honestly my favorite overall if I had to choose one.

To me it's a messy masterpiece and one of the most interesting albums of the 70s.

I love the use of synths all over it, weather used in a more rocking way on songs like Honkin Down the Highway and Let Us Go on This Way or in more melodic ways like I'll Bet He's Nice and The Night Was So Young.

I also love the writing on it, one of the few times Brian wrote with no collaborator and it's very interesting in that way ranging from bizarre to personal heartbreaking stuff to goofy madness to honest and hernest.

For example songs like Johnny Carson seem simple and just about well Johnny Carson but I think it's more than that, I think Brian saw himself in Johnny especially with lines like "the network makes him break his back" or "when things get boring he fills up the slack" about at least in my opinion Brian dealing with record label and image pressure.

My favorites entry 3

For this one I really wanna talk about Adult/Child, in my opinion it's one of the Boys absolute best material even though I know it can be really dividing.

For me I really love the mix of the big band and more up beat stuff, I think Dick Reynolds really did a great job on songs like Life is for the Living, Deep Purple and Still I Dream of It and I also love songs like Lines, Everybody Wants to Live and It's Trying to Say.

And of course I love the infectious groove of Shortenin Bread, it's easy to see why Brian was so obsessed with this one.

Overall I think this really is one of Brian's masterpieces, it just has a great vibe to it!

The only ones that knock this down a peg imo are Tomboy, which is self explanatory if you know lol, HELP because I honestly don't think it fits the vibe of Adult/Child sound wise and Games Two Can Play for the same reason as HELP.

I give it a strong 8 out of 10!

An unshared poem I wrote about Brian last year when he passed away

I wrote this last year after Brian passed and haven't shared it until now, hope you guys enjoy

Summer's gone and the tide has died down

It seems the air has been colder since you've passed

The sun a little less warm and the summer dream seeming to fade away little by little

But it's one thing I know that you taught us is to give love and mercy

God only knows what the world will do without you, it feels a little less whole

Three brothers united again in harmony and spirit and music

You told us to smile, you told us it's ok, you told us "don't worry baby everything will be alright"

You gave us a ding dang time and cooked us all up some Shortnin Bread

But surf is up and we can all hear the wind chimes hanging down by your window as you let the wind blow

And over and over the crow cries uncovers the cornfield

And over and over our tears cover the cornfield

So sail on Sailor sail on you one one wonderful soul

Is Jan and Dean worth getting into?

I know there quite an important influence on the Boys early career, and along with the Boys they were basically the first to add vocals to Surf music as we know it.

I know I love songs like Surf City and Dean Torrence designed the cover for Love You.

So I'm asking, is it worth doing a deep dive on Jan and Dean?

Al Jardine live question

I'm going to see Al at Des Plaines Theatre this upcoming month and I got balcony tickets but I was wondering.

Can you still hear Al pretty good from the balcony? I know others have said he does small theaters but I'd like to hear from fans who have done the balcony seats experience!

Dennis - You and I

I've been listening to Pacific Ocean Blue quite a bit lately, and everytime You and I always absolutely stands out to me big time.

I love the music on this track so much, very jazzy feeling to me I don't really know how else to describe it tbh.

And Dennis's vocals on here are so sweet and soothing sounding, to me it really shows the great voice he had!

What do the Boys mean to all my fellow neurodivergent fans?

I was diagnosed with Asperger's (ASD now as they stopped diagnosing Asperger's and other disabilities individually) when I was 13 years old and I've often found myself looking at and processing things differently than others.

I don't know if it's weird, but Brian and the Boys often make me feel proud to be different and embrace all the struggles, especially Brian seeing everything he went through.

I don't think I'd be okay mentally a lot of times without there music tbh.

But I wanna know what does Brian and the Boys mean to my fellow neurodivergent BBs fans out there? Id love to hear it!

How do you feel about Definitive Jux?

I gotta say one of my favorite labels to ever be in existence is Definitive Jux, it truly helped define and cement my love for Hip Hop as a teenager.

I really think a lot of the stuff they were doing was absolutely legendary and helped change the game and what's crazy is for the most part was ran in El-P's apartment.

Albums like Fantastic Damage by El, I'll Sleep When You're Dead by El, The Cold Vein by Cannibal Ox, Labor Days by Aesop Rock, Hell's Winter by Cage, Bazooka Tooth by Aesop Rock, as well as people like Mr. Lif and producers like Blockhead are all fantastic.

But I wanna know how do you guys feel about Def Jux? What does it mean to you?

Third World Man or Were You Blind That Day?

I've really been obsessing over all the Gaucho stuff, released and unreleased.

And yeah I Know technically Were You Blind That Day was an outtake from Aja I'm pretty sure.

But depending on the day I find it hard to decide which one I like better, but I think I prefer the darker lyrics of Were You Blind That Day.

Which one do you guys prefer?

Soulful Old Man Sunshine

This song is absolutely infectious I love it so much, I really love the opening harmonies going right into the rest of the song.

Some of Carl's best vocals too imo, it's crazy this never made it on a album.

Something I really love about being a Brian fan

I've noticed ever since being so obsessed with Brian and the Boys that I've gotten into quite a bit of music through him.

From reading and listening to stuff about him I've gotten into stuff like Burt Bacharach, Gershwyn, Randy Newman and The Ronettes.

Anyone else gotten into quite a bit of music from being interested in Brian and his music?

Kind Spirit

I've been falling in love with this, with it only having a chorus I'm guessing it wasn't finished or they lost interest maybe but damn it's good.

That chorus is amazing and gets stuck in my head.

I love the piano in it too!

Anyone know anything else about this track??
