Do you paint the inner parts while assembling or only paint the outside at the end?

Been building my first ever model kit, and I've noticed there's all these small parts that you're supposed to paint while assembling, even though some of them will literally never be visible outside of the tank. So my question is do you bother painting them while assembling or do you only paint them afterwards, when you're gonna be painting the whole model anyways?
